          Good morning everyone .

Another dismal looking day today. Laundry day so I really hope we get a few dry spells :fingers crossed:

Housework chores are beckoning me today, so that'll keep me off this awful internet.:dbgrtmb:

Need to write up my Christmas card list, this year I'll be sending more e-cards I think as not only is our post so very slow but they've hiked the stamp prices up to 75 p for 2nd class and a huge jump to £1:25 for 1st.....dread to think of the overseas prices. That'll come to over £30 for just 2nd class, not including the overseas ones.!!

I would be quite happy to not receive any....Scrooge that I am .:roflol:

On that friendly note I take my leave....have a lovely day..

          :spinning:

            Good Morning Birdie.jpeg
It is sunny and calm with not a leaf moving.

I only send about a dozen e Christmas/New Year cards now as cards are not a "thing" here. J sent some mail to the UK some weeks ago and it was 1.05 Euros each. That is ridiculous in the UK.

Things have calmed down here and J doesn't have any medical appointments till December, four then. Hair cuts are on the 12th but like last year I think I will let it pass and grow my hair for the "cold" months. I always keep the front trimmed.

I will just potter about, tidy up things on my computer, think of themes and crochet to keep my hands active ... after I get up and cycle.

              Morning Vicky...

It's dry and very calm out ....dare I say that I would in fact like a bit of a breeze to dry the laundry but mustn't temp fate...we'll end up with a gale!!

Yes prices here are terrible....along with the service, even local items can take a fortnight to arrive at their destination it seems.

We only have Dental/ Hygienist appointments and hubs has one Hospital one in Dec.

I have a trim booked for 3 weeks time.....dreading the nippy neck feel but can't cope with it longer anymore....just have to toughen up, and dress accordingly....

                Good day
It is now up to 20f -6c and the sun is trying to poke through the clouds. The guessers are calling for a bit of precipitation. I'm not going to use the S word... :nonofinger:

How coincidental is that @Upsydaisy ? I had my cards list out yesterday and had bought new cards on Saturday and there is one in the box that would be perfect for @Victoria because it has cats. I agree that the cost of postage is excessive but I'm an antique and feel that no matter the price, it is how I do things. I will need to go to the post office to get the international stamps but I shall be much more careful than last year. Last year I bought a bunch, then somehow lost them while doing some grocery shopping after. I guess they slid out of my wallet

I'm working on a new decorative Christmas touch for the front door. Mine will be similar to one I saw on Lee Valley.
Theirs is roughly 40 euros or 60 pounds and that is why I'm making my own. Which will cost only about 4 euros. Plus mine will be a bit longer and have smaller bells in between the large ones. :)

                Cheers :coffee:

Quick pop in. Still alive. Leaving New Bern, NC. Tuesday morning, heading for Rydall, Georgia .
Will be spending Thanksgiving week with a bunch of cousins, 10 of them showing up. Take care.

Good morning everyone ,how are you today?

Another supposedly grey sunless day here for us today.

How did your theme searching go Vicky....it is hard isn't it, I have a couple of weird ones coming up.

Love that door decoration Lori, looking forward to seeing your version.

Glad to hear your plans are going well redstar......have a great thanksgiving.

As we can't go anywhere today, because the telephone/ internet engineer couldn't give us a set time for sorting out our annoying issues, I will probably get time to get out into the garden at some point.

We had a note in our post box informing us that next Tuesday we'll be without electricity for 8hrs as they are doing some maintenance work. As it stands at the moment that day's temperature is a fair bit lower that we've had so far with a high of only 8C and a low of 1C, but at least it's supposed to be dry......at the moment.

We debating where to go for the day .....somewhere where we can eat a cooked meal in warm surroundings. Not too sure if we want to venture too far on a cold day so it will probably only be into Southampton or Winchester I expect. We might even incorporate our visit with my brother on that day too. Just keeping everything crossed that it remains a dry day.:fingers crossed::fingers crossed:

Looking forward though to regaining faster internet speeds and having a landline that doesn't keep us awake at night with it's random rings.

                      Have a great day.

                        Rock Stone Tree Bolivia.jpg

Morning Upsy. I decided on Rock Formations and this first is a Rock Tree in Bolivia.

It is a lovely mild start to the day but we may drop to 7/9c tonight for the week as this Polar Front passes. We should have a high of 20c.

Not sure if J is doing some grocery shopping today. He avoids Mondays now as they are often stocking shelves and have the aisles blocked.

I got a lot of clean up done on my laptop so will do more today, along with a bit of crochet.

                        Have a good day all.

                          Good day
It is 30f -1c and not going to get much warmer. The guessers say to watch out for precipitation but heck, they said that yesterday too and not a flake or drop anywhere!

8 hours is a looong time to go without electricity @Upsydaisy ! Even during our massive blackout back around 2001 , it was only out for about 5 hours. Yes, I'd be going somewhere that is toasty too.

@Victoria I totally agree with J when it comes to picking times to shop. As I mentioned, I had to be out in the shopping world on Saturday and it is the first time that I have been out there on the weekend in many a year. I declare it a horror show. Wall to wall people and long line ups of vehicles just trying to get into the mall parking or back out again. :yikes:

I've got the roomba doing a surface clean in the kitchen and hallway downstairs and will be washing the floors when it is done. And today will be a loo day. I have company coming tomorrow and like everyone else, I do like things to be tidy and freshly cleaned when I entertain. Bless em, they are being thoughtful by inviting themselves to come by with birthday cards for me :)

And I have lots of other stuff to do before tomorrow morning because I will be baking first thing so as to give my guests fresh buns and things to take home.

                          Cheers all :coffee:

Morning everyone......we have speedy internet and a well behaved landline !!! :hapydancsmil:

The chap was here for about 3hrs...well not just in our house but up the lane too, he found our cables were crossing with others . He called out back up and they replaced all the cables.

We're in for a couple of minus temp. nights so that should finish off all the remaining bloomers in the garden. They can then all be finally put to bed. :snooze:

Plans today include a bit more kitchen Autumn Spring cleaning.. and a few gardening tasks later this afternoon.

Yes I think it's too long to cut off the power Lori. We're all electric and hot drinks in a flask are really only good for a few hours imo. I wouldn't mind in summer but now!!!!!?

I don't mind going into town sightseeing on weekends.....occasionally.... as I quite like the buzz. I definitely wouldn't attempt any shopping.......as I don't like attempting it any day actually!!:heehee:

                            Have a good one !

A beautiful Wave Rock from Western Australia.

We are a nippy 10c this morning.

Pleased the Internet/Landline is back in order Upsy.

The thought of going to shopping malls or crowded towns makes me cringe! When I worked I did my shopping on my lunch hour. I worked in small towns with markets so it was never really busy. I usually went alone or perhaps with a co-worker. Since I have been here I only went to the monthly market or Chinese shops. I have never been a Brand Name person (M&S, Debenhams. Liberty) although I could afford it. I actually have not been shopping in a store in over six years. I shop on line. J's Mum forced me into Neiman Marcus once ... and embarrassed me by saying "buy a shopping bag"!!!

J off to meet with the President of our Freguesia/Parish this morning regarding a worthy local cause to give the Kia to and then is meeting Donald for lunch.

Have a lovely time with your friends Lori. That is something else not for me ... girly things. I have always been a one on one.

                                Good day
It is warm , 43f, and the guessers have said it will be another miserable day. Oh, yes, yesterday they were actually right and just as I was going out the door to do some shopping, the skies opened up. And it rained for the rest of the day.

@Victoria I only have a couple of people here today. It is next week that I have the mini horde (9) of ladies here. Today is just lunching celebrating. I'm finally at the 70 mark today.

@Upsydaisy I wish I lived closer. I'd invite you over to hang out for the day. We could have had a couple of games of scrabble and played with a jigsaw puzzle to pass the time :)

I've got to get going here as I have to get the dough started for some fresh buns and things.

                                Cheers :coffee:
