Yes, we had the whole living room repainted about 2 years ago by some young guy, prior to that I had done it at least twice since we had the house. I was not about to be in all that pain again. But was much younger also, then. He did a good job.

      Good day
It is 38f 3c and lots of clouds blotting out the sun.

I am very late because I forgot to come here! I slept in until nearly 7 o'clock this morning and have been pushing myself to make up for lost time since.

I've finished today's laundry and have made two types of cranberry sauces and some white and also red wine jellies. All are canned and waiting for me to cut out their Christmas cloth caps to have ready as little gifts. This now frees the next two weekends for marathon cookie baking. :)

I've got dough rising for some fresh rolls and as soon as the chicken breasts in the oven are done, those will be baked. Then I need to go out and get Emily from her sleepover and give half of the rolls to her friend's household. I hope she had a good time at the rock concert. :fingers crossed:

@Upsydaisy Waterloo station has to be one of the best places for people watching. I was fascinated by all the activity while I was sipping a cuppa and waiting for my train.

All this talk about painting makes me feel guilty about some rooms here that need freshening but there's no way I'm touching anything until some time in the new year.

      Cheers :coffee:

        Morning all.
There was a nice pink sky earlier but the sun is up now. However, it is a fresh 5c going to 15c.

Van is still acting strange but staying close to home, on the condenser in front of the house. He came in for lunch yesterday and went straight back out then came in for dinner at 6pm ... at which time the door was shut. He ate and went straight into my closet where he stayed till 8am when he shot out into the kitchen!

Hope all is well with everything.

          Good morning. :)

Brrrrrr it seems to be nippy all over the country at the moment...nobody has escaped it.

Hope you're all having an enjoyable weekend.

We changed our plans slightly yesterday ..don't we always :heehee:... We went to the National Gallery instead of the Portrait one, although both are almost next door to each other we didn't have time for both, we might see if we do when we come back in a couple of week's time :fingers crossed:

Saw a nice collection of our son's works of art ( not at the N. Gallery..but who knows maybe one day :fingers crossed::biggrin::dbgrtmb:). He's definitely very talented indeed.

After a nice lunch we had a bit of a wander round but we jointly decided it was too cold to visit B. Market. We got back mid afternoon but even then the light was fading.

Our outside security cameras were pinging off constantly yesterday evening and showed that we were having very heavy rain, I contacted my sister who lives just 10 mins away and she didn't have any at all !!

We're heading back late morning as we have to bus home from Winchester and we also don't know whether the top end of our lane will be passable after so much rain...we may have to do a detour round to the opposite end...I hope not as that would entail a really long walk as no buses run that route on Sundays.:fingers crossed:

          What will be, will be.:noidea:

Oh how I agree Lori, a few years back now my sister and I spent a good hour sitting in Waterloo supping wine and people watching....my favourite passtime!!:)

          Have a relaxing Sunday everyone.

          :spinning:

                Good day
It is 34f 1c which is mild to me. The guessers say that we will be treated to above freezing temps every day which is good because there will also be a lot of precipitation and I'd prefer the stuff you don't have to shovel :)

I am not bilingual so I just passed by your last posts @Upsydaisy and @Victoria.

I would like to go back to London/England one day as I didn't get to see all of the museums either.

I've got panzerotti rising and getting ready to bake. I think I'll make another one of those apple coffee cakes. It was yummy and I still have two old apples to use up.

And I will be doing a bunch of ironing while my show is on. I've got all the napkins from the other day and then the fabric to heat shrink for the slider rocker cushion covers.

                Cheers all :coffee:

then when we came to go home it was thick with snow, so my hubby drove very slow, more snow to come soon "snow dig"

Sunday. Morning all. 50 degrees here, raining. Guess another day of indoor stuff.
Amazing how I can find stuff to fill my time. And maybe find a good book later.
Thawing out some frozen cooked lobster, been in the freezer too long, Its going to go one of two directions, either a pasta salad, or Lobster mac and cheese. I am leaning toward the salad part, celery, frozen peas, little onion, small pasta, mayo, and old bay.
Going to find more Christmas stuff to put about today. Try to take some pic later to show you all.
                      Have a good day all.

                        Morning everyone .

Hope you all had a great weekend.

We did up to the point of our of return trip!!!:phew::thud:

We were all asked to leave the train we were on just before it's departure time. Apparently a weakness in a stretch of embankment that was due to be reinforced next weekend had now resulted in a landslide. After a couple of hours of line inspections it was deemed unsafe so all trains were cancelled for the rest of the day. After about 3 hours and lots of discussions with various rail staff ,who were all so helpful, we were suddenly advised of a train leaving ,albeit on a different and longer route that would eventually take us to Southampton Central ....so 7.5 hours after leaving our son to embark on a journey that should have taken 1.5 hours...we finally arrived home!!

It does sound like an awful ordeal but it wasn't so bad as we got to meet and chat with lots of other friendly people...passengers and rail staff. Two women who we sat chatting to were trying to get to Devon and it was proving difficult finding them an alternative route . When our eldest messaged us to say he too was having his trip diverted to Bath, then Salisbury, Reading and finally ending up at Paddington Station the women said that Bath would be good for them as they could get picked up from there by family. So they asked rail staff to check out a route that would take them to Bath....yes trains were leaving Bath but all the trains going there from Waterloo were cancelled.!!! We felt a tad guilty saying goodbye to them after a route was found for us. I hope they eventually got home.

Today hubs has a hospital app, I have a friend dropping by and then tonight I'm out with some girlfriends for our Christmas catch up meal....so another pretty hectic day .

                        Have a good day.

                          Morning all.

Oh dear, Upsy, what a horror. Where did you have to sit all that time. And that so many trains were affected. I would not be able to cope with that! However, so pleased you made it home safely.

Hopefully will be a more relaxing day for you and that R's hospital appointment goes well.

It was a quiet weekend for us. We watched a couple of Dolly Parton Christmas films and yesterday watched The Father with Anthony Hopkins ... so sad! Nothing planned for here today but it has started drizzling.

Morning Vicky...yes a bit of a downer but it was fine really ,even R wasn't too jittery..which surprised me!!

Well as you know Waterloo has plenty going on with cafes, bars, restaurants and fastfood outlets...so we were fine and had a meal and a drink and a wander ...with of course a bit of people watching.:heehee::blue thumb:

Yes I plan on watching The Father too.:dbgrtmb:

I have never been to Waterloo. Actually. I haven't been to many places in London as the train journeys and people put me off. Shopping in small towns like Aylesbury suited me fine ... I couldn't even cope with Oxford! Sad I know, but I am a country girl at heart.

Oh, we also watched Animal Farm, a cartoon.

@Upsydaisy , train trips places seem neat. Over here its not done much unless at the station is truly near where someone works. My friend Sylvia would take a train daily from her town in Virgin, parking her car in the parking lot, to Washington DC, then walk to her office. it was close enough to the station. Get work done for that 2 hours on the train she did. Our trip coming back home from Georgia to PA took us 13 hours driving, we switch off . Had suggested we stay a night somewhere half way, husband wanted to push through. For the most part traveling by train to any destination still means to have to get a car at either end to then get somewhere. Or someone picks you up. Guess that's like flying, same idea, have a rental car reservation ready.

Still very wet outside from more rain yesterday, so again inside stuff.

I did make the lobster pasta salad, not much meat from it all, so only a small amount made. Took the shells and simmered them in water for about 5 hours, will freeze the liquid for something later, maybe a fish type soup etc.

Well, off to do stuff. Cat is still with us.
