    Morning Vicky.

    Very festive!!

Glad to hear that J is feeling much better now ;):blue thumb:.
The' boys' look very comfy and settled for the day.

To be honest the film is not entirely my cup of tea....beheadings and brutal battle scenes make cheery viewing for a dismal day! :heehee: Reviews are 50/50 , there are ( as always I think) some historical inaccuracies but my knowledge of French history isn't that in depth that I will spot them I'm ashamed to say.
There has been so much said about it that we just felt we had to see it with our own eyes.
    C'est la vie.

    Have a relaxing day.xx

      Good day
It is right at freezing again and there is snow on the ground with more falling. What I could see does look pretty.

@Victoria your Christmas decorator did a nice job!

Here it is 6 already and although I've got my second load of laundry going, I've got lots more to do. I need to spend this entire weekend baking and also the next so I need to get ahead on some chores or at least keep right on top of them!

There are 6 pounds of butter sitting on the kitchen counter to get up to room temperature and for me to mix into doughs later and to stow in the fridge until this weekend when the marathon baking starts. Then I'll repeat it all with different batches next weekend.

In about 3 hours, I'll be going to meet my friend for our monthly brekkie. She'll also be coming by mine after next weekend to get her cookie tray and a bite of lunch with me.

Em's up now. She had a tetanus shot yesterday to update that immunization and I'll arrange for her other two boosters for HPV and Hep B to take place, hopefully during school break. Our drive to the doctor's new office was interesting as we took three highways there and four back. I drove by places I hadn't laid eyes on since I was in my 20's!

Best get going to switch the laundry.

      Cheers all :coffee:

My father had been in and out of hospital many times in his life, ever since I was little. He never moaned or complained and was always grateful for whatever someone did for him. He always thanked me for helping him, not that I wanted it, and he always had a smile. When asked how he felt he'd say he was 'A1' but I knew he was really ill.

My mother however, when she wasn't well she was the most miserable person on the earth. She wouldn't speak to anyone and constantly moaned and complained. She was so miserable you just wouldn't want to be with her. I don't think she ever said thank you to anyone. I never heard her say it anyway.
After she had a slight stroke and couldn't be left on her own we brought her here. She was here for 3 years before she died. Those were the most miserable and difficult years of my life, she drove me and B up the wall. I wouldn't have minded if it was my father

I'm not boasting but I'm glad to say I follow my father - can't be doing with fuss. I'd rather pretend I'm all right..

We're having a mild rainy day today ... suits me fine, I never moan about the rain

@Michael Hewett my mother was a miserable so and so too. My dad took good care of her in her later years but she eventually had a severe stroke and subsequently passed. Then my dad had the most fun he'd had in years. He no longer had someone forbidding him from socializing and we kids really enjoyed visiting him and he, well, it was just the most wonderful 8 years for him :)

And like you, I am more like my dad but I also work at reminding myself to not ever be my mother!

Sometimes I do something or say something in a certain way and I think I'm turning into my father. It horrifies me.

My mother was always the life and soul of the party, a very friendly socialble lady ... but not when she was ill.

Morning all. Thursday, 32 degrees, Some fluffy snow coming down, doubt it will stick. We shall see. So no leaf raking for me today.
Awesome @CanadianLori you have all that butter softening, I am still debating my bakes. Put it on the calendar I'd start this weekend with something. Tired of what I normally bake. Right now thinking chocolate biscotti with dried cherries. Then I ran across a recipe, I never made called Malt loaf, will think on that one, something different. Giving away Loafs as gifts seem to work well for folks.
@Upsydaisy, would love to see some of the artwork from your son.

While down in Tennessee, was able to get some awesome wooden bowls that my cousin Bud makes in his workshop, his ability to find the beautiful veining of the wood and highlight that in the bowl is awesome.

Parental care---I was young when I had to deal with it all, too young to have that pressure, took away my childhood from me. My mother had a lot of issues, she was gone when I was 13 years old, my dad died when I was 21 years old. When I let myself think on it, I cannot see any support from mother's siblings who lived close enough to do something. Funny at that time you do not think that they should "do" something to help a teenager, call, come over, support. Its not till later you realized none of that was done, and you survived. My father's sister lived too far away, and again, never thought of that either at that time. I can't even recall where they invited us over for a holiday dinner. Hate letting myself think on it. But when these subjects come up, it brings up memories, or lack there of.

Ok, well, off to house stuff. Cat still with us.

I didn't mean to offend you or anyone else @Michael Hewett as I specifically said that I knew a few who weren't like this but I was referring to my own personal experience of male family members.....and.....well they are a bit ' whimpy' when under the weather. I dread to think how my hubs would have coped with having to carry on regardless with the monthly cramps for 40 yrs as we women have to put up with. Pregnancy and childbirth.....let's not even go there :roflol:.

You did not offend me @Upsydaisy It was just following on from what you said.

Well nature has evolved women's bodies to be the right shape for giving birth, and has made them strong so that they can do it.
Men haven't got the correct shape bodies, the anatomy, or the strength for giving birth - they are not meant to do it.
That's why women are stronger, and that's why they can endure pain and illnesses better than men ... SOME men ...

Women are not the 'weaker sex'. That's a lie. They are the stronger of the two.

                    Good morning everyone.

The film was good albeit a bit...no...very violent at times......hence the shocked and sad look on the sprouts faces today.

It poured with rain yesterday causing a lot of the roads to become flooded.
Our forecast for today was a surprise change.. from a grotty wet day to a dry and sunny one.
                    What a lovely change that'll be.:smile::SUNsmile:

Thanks redstar but I won't post any pics of his work...he's quite a private person and wouldn't be happy with me doing so. At the moment he only paints for himself or offers some to close family.

He's taking his drawing pad and pencils with him on his South America trip and hopes to capture some images that he'll be able to work further on once he's back home, really looking forward to seeing them!!
He also enjoys working with ink and has created some absolutely stunning pieces but they are very time consuming to do.

Michael yes I totally agree with you about our bodies being designed for childbirth but what I was really trying to say was that I don't think for one second many men...that I know anyway....would cope with the discomfort that accompanies such ' womens things'. I certainly found it very hard myself at times. I could visualise them taking days off work that's for sure!:heehee:

No real plans yet for today as of course we had expected a wet day..

                    Have a lovely one yourselves.

My Christmas Avatar a little larger. Upsy, I thought you were trying to scare me with you little green fellows today! At least you were "sort of" prepared for the movie.

Van decided last night to sleep in our dirty linen basket ... a wooden collapsible contraption with navy linen receptacle which is between the lounge chair and J's tall boy about four feet from the foot of the bed (under the window sort of). Munchkin has been known to sleep in there from time to time. During the night he got out and up onto my faux suede covered dressing chair where he stayed till 8am.

A fine day here so I will sit out after my cycling.

Translation ... You have a happy end of the week.

But they are not women, so obviously they would not cope with the same things.
And women are all different anyway, so some cope better than others.

Oh dear Michael I really didn't mean for my comment to cause you such ..annoyance??

I said it more tongue in cheek to Vicky as both of us have experienced .....well I won't say for fear of causing more upset , suffice to say no matter how much they dramatize things...we still love our dear hubs to bits.:roflol:

Yes of course everyone is different and copes with life differently...say no more ..end of of subject please. What I said was in silly jest and I apologise.

                          Friends still??? xx

It is mild 33f 1c and again, lots of clouds. The guessers say that we will get a peep at the sun later on before the precipitation starts pelting down over the whole weekend.

@Upsydaisy I think the saying, "suck it up, buttercup", refers to most women because that's what we do. Things don't hurt us less, just that most of us were trained to, "grin and bear it"!

This is everything week so all of the various forms of items needing disposals are at the kerb waiting to be collected. Other than the people who chance putting their items out the night before, I am the first out in the morning. I won't put the recycle, rubbish out the night before because the raccoons can tear into that and leave a nasty mess. I don't tempt them.

I've got lots of cookie doughs to mix up and I'll make and cut the pastry for the mini tarts in preparation for the weekend baking. And I have shopping to do.

                            Cheers all :coffee:

My (ex) husband is an illness devotee. He used to run to the local doctor with the slightest twinkle of a potentially approaching flu, and returned most delighted with a heavy bag of over-the-counter remedies from the corner pharmacy.

He lined the bottles up, carefully reading all instructions (which is interesting, as reading even the first page of any non- medical instructions of user manuals was out of the question) and set to joyfully administering the medicaments.

This repeated itself so often that I finally had to point out that firstly, a cup of tea and rest would be a sensible first course of action, and secondly, the pharmacist is the brother of the doctor.

The doctor and pharmacist were always most polite to us and gave The Baby lollipops. :heehee:

Anyways, The Baby probably got a counter- reaction and is never ill and doesn't confess of any suffering. When she was a young teenager she texted me at work to ask where we keep the antiseptic lotion as she can't find it and sorry she forgot to pull the bin.

Returning home I found out she had dropped a heavy planter on her foot (the plant was ok), smashing her toenail into smithereens and bandaged the potato like toe securely so that she was able to mop the blood up. :yikes:
