I don't think we got as much snow as the guessers predicted but it is heavy stuff!

I've got two sets of drapes to prepare for sewing and hemming and it is laundry day too. Plus I see I'm out of rolls so those need to be baked too!

Hello @wiseowl it's nice to see you fly in :)

        Cheers :coffee:

          Good Morning all.
Neat to see some interesting fabric for your project @CanadianLori . Over here we have what is called "Fabric Row" in Philadelphia which has "discontinued designer fabrics" never know what will be there when you go. And certainly have to have an idea and yardage in mind before going. But found out that on ebay the fringe selections are awesome and and much cheaper than anywhere else. Recently broke out my sewing machine to make a few pillows with fabric left over for my airbnb. But then I also discovered at an awesome "thrift store" beautiful in perfect shape couch pillows for only $4.00 each. I make sure they are washable fabric with a zipper , and wash it all when I get home. A couple of them the pillow insert I looked up from the label would cost $20.00 each. So awesome deal. Years ago we had a seamstress make up some valances and Jabots for our living room, we selected the couch fabric and the extra yardage for them so it all matches. Both couch and draping are in awesome shape still, and not tired of it at all.
It is 9am here, soggy outside from lots of rain. Back to organizing for taxes. Hope our accountant will be surprised that we are done early for her to start. Hoping we get some snow this month, kills insects ect. March is in like a lamb here, so expect a lion later.

Oh Lori, could not cope with that! But it is beautiful to look at.

What is a ' fridge selection' please?

It is 3 o'clock and we have just come in so J can have his nap. After Ben finished we sat out front with a drink and caught up with gossip. Sadly the sun was hiding behind cloud and it was nippy with a breeze at 17c.

Just re-read what I wrote and correct my typo. Fringe, or some people might say trimmings.

@Victoria you are probably more acquainted with the word "passimenterie" as we pros call it.

Aha, I thought since it was continental you would have heard it. It is a long winded name for bling!

@redstar, if the postage wasn't so costly, I'd send you some of my snow. Our March is doing the opposite of yours. It came in like a lion.

                    Good morning everyone. :)

Your garden is looking very lovely Vicky, it so nice to have a gardener you can trust. Unfortunately all my dealings with them haven't been positive, my Dad was too grateful and trusting towards the ones he hired and they repayed him by ripping him off...I managed to get him to dismiss the last lot and that was when I took over.

Lori your garden looks magical ..I love snow. Fingers crossed for us to get a dusting of it next week :fingers crossed:.

Redstar I hope today is less soggy for you.

Hope your weekend going well Flumpy.

Have a great day everyone  :dbgrtmb:

Morning one and all who venture here.

We have had a shower and further are expected through Thursday which will be very much welcome. It is 10c heading for 17c.

Yes, Ben is great. We met him 6/7 years ago as he was the gardener at a bar we frequented. He is so thorough. Yesterday he worked non stop for three and a half hours including treating the gravel with a chemical to kill the weeds (which is safe for cats in an hour once dried . The Babes were in so we didn't let them out for a couple of hours. There were two trips to the rubbish bins (permitted here). Ben said 40 Euros which included 5 for the weed killer but J gave him 50 as J said it would take him two days in stages to do so much! Actually, I pay for it out of my pocket money ... yes, we have pocket money!

Any old how, a usual lazy Sunday for us all ... Babes are back in bed (with us).

Wishing all a good peaceful day.

Good morning Vicky and to your snuggled up bed companions.

That's a very good rate indeed for a gardener, my Dad was paying well over a £100 and I kept finding one hidden by the garage have a cigarette and the other one constantly talking on his phone, albeit it hands-free with ear phones...still not good working practice, imo.:nonofinger:

I've decided not to sow anymore seeds for a few weeks ( if I can resist the temptation that is:heehee:) as it's just over 3 weeks before we spend a long weekend with son No.2 and girlfriend. Tiny seedlings need checking on to ensure that they're not in direct sunlight ( wishful thinking I know !!!) , so I would prefer not to have any that have newly germinated, I will probably sow a fair few a couple of days before we go.:dbgrtmb:

Nice to see Philip back.......house move???? It did sound like he was in a pretty remote area so perhaps he needs the security and peace of mind being nearer to more neighbours. I think he will miss his beautiful garden though. That's what I will dread leaving most too when the time comes.

Keep dry but enjoy the rain! xx

                          Morning Upsy

I didn't get my seeds sown in The Courtyard yesterday as we sat with Ben out front for a couple of hours and then on our own for another couple. The first this year so it was great. Ben could not believe the damage to the Jacaranda and Myrtus. He came to us after taking a Brit couple to Faro airport to go back to UK ... Ben and his friend had paid for their flights ... after paying for a hostel for them to bathe/change clothes as they had been living in their car for weeks/months and were rather "unpleasant" to be near!!! Ben helped them sell the car for scrap yesterday so they could eat (but probably buy booze). They are alcoholics and had been kicked out of the house they were renting. They had been here 19 years as non-residents / non tax payers even though they were working ... the "under the radar" type. They lived near Algoz and we met them once at a bar and found out the guy had been to our house once helping Ben when he had a lot of tree trimming to do. We decided at the time they were not our type so did not make suggestions to meet up again!

Have a pleasant day and we will enjoy looking at the rain out the window which is due to start 11-ish. Vxx

Yes, I was surprised regarding Philip's aborted house move as he had just re-painted it following a water damage incident and bought some new furniture. His cottage was not remote, in town with adjoining cottages.
