Morning all. Tuesday . Rained all night, chilly 47 right now.
My nephew, who lives in Mississippi and his crew are going to the town that the tornado hit. Guess he got a contract to work from the town. He takes with him two large travel RVs for sleeping the guys and his trucks.
Chess club meeting again later today.
The other night did a movie walk about. Have a good day all.

      Good day,
I've still been very busy so am only popping in for a minute. It is cold up here. We are going down to -7c some nights this week and snow is predicted.

@Victoria - what reminded me to pop in is this - I think J and his friend would get a laugh out of this wine lover's version :)

Cheers and hugs to all :coffee:

        Bee - eater
Increasingly found nesting here in the Uk now due to climate change.

Very moving film yesterday with a very unexpected twist at the end that ....... didn't see it coming !!!:yikes:

Decided on our next film but it's not released for another couple of weeks yet, which is fine as the schools breakup for the Easter holidays ,so we avoid the cinema!!!

Uncle's funeral is arranged for a fortnight this coming Friday. Exactly the same arrangements as for my Aunt's.

Baby son called last night to say he's coming down middle April ,so looking forward to seeing him as we haven't since he came back from his travels.:hapydancsmil::hapfeet::yes:

Middle son phoned to check on our travel times for our visit to them this weekend ...... we're really excited at seeing them, it's been ages.:hapfeet::hapydancsmil: Thank goodness for video calling!!

Seeing our brood is the tonic we need after the gloomy start to our year...with 5 deaths .

We can't wait to hug them all.:grphg:

Not much on today , I'm leaving all garden related things as they are now until we come back as everything is carefully arranged to minimise damage to all the seedlings.:fingers crossed:

I accidentally clicked on paper tickets when I booked our train tickets online ( normally have digital) so I might go down to the station and get them.....after working out how to use the machine!!!
I'm not good with all this modern stuff.....still once done, once learnt.:blue thumb:

        Enjoy your day everyone.

Morning Upsy and all who follow.

Wow, what an interesting guitar Lori ... I forwarded a copy to J and John. Rather unique!

It is so good you are seeing your Bots Upsy. I know that makes you a Happy Bunny. :imphrt:

J has gone on antibiotics today as he has to have a back tooth removed next Tuesday. So I had to cancel arrangements to meet up with Caroline and Steve at the Chinese by the beach. That would have been my first outing this year ... oh well, there is always another day.

J picked up my plants yesterday afternoon as he did not get to the PO on Monday, so I will plant those up late morning before it gets too warm (it is about 20c then).

That's all from here then folks. Have a good one.

            Good day
It is 34f 1c and sunny. The guessers are saying to brace for a drop in temps but the snow won't start until later this afternoon. I'm tired of snow but that's what I get for living in, what is on the U.S. agriculture site, a 5a zone. Canada's zone ratings are a little more optimistic but I thought I'd use the U.S. one as it has mostly the same criteria as the U.K. one.

Things are finally starting to slow down and I am having a bit of a breather.:) I've got all of the work shoveled out of the house and now have seedlings everywhere instead. I will be looking at getting back into my teensy exercise routine. For the past few days, I was going to start that "tomorrow".

How nice that you've attended the cinema @Upsydaisy. I attended a play last month after a pleasant luncheon with my friends. Sometimes it is nice to be forced to just sit for a few hours in order to take in a show.

I still have a lot of personal sewing to do but at least I have settled on matching two patterns with fabric to make up the clothing. I'd been dithering and it was starting to irritate me.

            Cheers all :coffee:

Morning all. Wednesday. Sunny day today.
Won two chess games yesterday. Yeah me.
Yes, @Upsydaisy , seems with age brings lots of losses. my last Aunt passed on this pass November. She was so full of history. She lived in Washington State, was able to fly there about 6 times over the years to visit, a sister of my mother who died many years ago. And both my matron of honors are gone, and a few other friends come to mind --gone. Can't think of when I ever rode in a train to get anywhere. Its all about driving around here, or flying. Have an awesome visit with family, good hugs are the best.

Just put out 5 suet cakes this morning, birds are eating up a storm. And my trees loaded with songs. Have a good bird identification book to find the names.

Husband driving about an hour this morning to drop of his antique train set to a guy, we need to get rid of stuff, sell things etc. too much stuff about. No need to keep it. He's going to stop by the car builder on the way for a meeting.
Just putter about outside today always something to do. Have a good day all.

Hawfinch...one of the rarest bird in the Uk.

Good morning everyone, how are you all today ?

I hope all goes well with J's tooth Vicky ...shame about the timing, but can't be helped, toothache is horrid.

Thanks Vicky and redstar.....we certainly will enjoy this coming weekend immensely.
With all 3 living out of the area it makes our get togethers even more special.:imphrt:

Lori that is so very true, I feel that by going to the cinema I can shut off the hustle and bustle of life and switch off from the depressing world news and worries and forget the weather for two whole hours!!!! Sitting in darkness and getting immersed in the story.....bliss!!!

Still a bit concerned about leaving all the seedlings for 3 nights and not being able to cover them when needed or vent the greenhouse. Fr & Sat overnight temps are OK ( 9 &7C ) but Sun dips to 3C. We are also set to have winds all day Fri ranging from 44- 47 mph!! Just hope the greenhouse still has glass in it by the time we return, last year we lost a fair few panes of glass in early Spring gales.:fingers crossed:

                Que sera sera.

                Have a great day .:)

Morning all. It is a hazy start to the day but the sun is peeking through. Another warm day ahead but it is breezy.

How long are you gone Upsy? Do you leave tomorrow?

Might repot a Bunny Ear Cactus and redo a big hanging basket by The Jungle Room as I have a giant pot of Tradescantia 'Blushing Bride' on the Front Patio I want to remove.

                    Hi Vicky.

Yep tomorrow morning and coming back Monday afternoon. Both are working, so only a slightly extended weekend.
We wanted to avoid having to go into Central London and change trains, which you have to if you travel up at weekends. We will now link trains at Clapham Junction instead...much better for jittery husbands....:lunapic 130165696578242 5:

                    I know I said I would email you but.......:dunno:

Have a Fabulous day both of you. :grphg: xx

                          Good day
It is 21f -6c and clear. Wish it was warmer but having sunshine is wonderful. :)

I'm sorry to hear about so many people in your lives passing away. I seem to be in between those sad times at the moment. :fingers crossed:

@Upsydaisy I have automatic vents on my little greenhouses and they sure take any work out of controlling the vents. Perhaps one of these would give you some peace of mind? Mine closes at 73f 23c. The only thing annoying about them is even at this time of year, when the sun hits, they open and tease me because it is still far too cold on cloudy days or at night to put plants in there! It's like they're singing, "nerny nerny poo poo!"

I have the giant joy of going to get my teeth cleaned today. I'm getting off far easier than J today @Victoria and I hope things go well for him. After that, there are lots of shops I want to visit as their sales flyers are full of good deals.:blue thumb:

@redstar do you use Hagerty for insuring your vehicles? I only have the 'cuda insured with them and I find that they are absolutely the most pleasant insurance company I've ever dealt with. But, maybe rightly so because they are expensive. :noidea:

                          Cheers :coffee:

Hi Lori, yes also have automatic ones too but I have noticed that one doesn't really close up tightly and we have the bubble wrap enclosure underneath it and if I don't check it we end up with water pooling on top of it....and we are currently having a bad spell of wet and windy weather too!!. When we're here it's fine as we can nip out and secure it tightly.:dbgrtmb:I

                            Have fun hitting the sales.

Morning all. Thursday. 29 degrees. 8AM Daffodils standing proud this morning.
Husband on his way to an auction, says lots of nice furniture there, as extra pieces to store for the airbnb. We might have to take a drive down there with a small UHaul to put it in the garage there, unless we can figure out storage in one of the garages here. Besides the garage attached to the house, there is also 2 others where cars are stored for future work. Wish one of them he would just get rid of, as there is no way he will ever get to it.
The antique train set was embraced by the new owner, all is well.
@CanadianLori, we use State Farm for our "fleet coverage" and for the show car--she is covered by Grundi Insurance. My car has a mileage sensor on it, less mileage driven, less cost, and all cars got adjusted for senior citizen.
@Upsydaisy, the closest thing I came recently to mass transit was using the bus in Scotland few years back. Was neat. Very clear system, and my cell phone helped to tell me which bus to go to where. Just had to figure out the coins.
Last night for 4PM cocktail hour, invited my neighbor over for wine and munchies and a daffodil walk about. Was night just chatting about. This weekend is husband's birthday, made dinner reservations, and have a few friends (surprise) joining us there. Well have a good day all.

Firecrest.. Began breeding here in 1962. Concentrated mainly in the south ,southeast especially in the New Forest area. Now spreading to Wales and the Midlands.

Morning everyone...another week nearer to Summer.:SUNsmile:

We're enjoying ( not a lot) a wet and very stormy morning here which followed on from...yep you guessed it...a wet and very stormy night!!!

On the positive side UK weather is never predictably or boring. We can get all 4 seasons in one day...if we're lucky.:roflol:

If it's the price we must pay for our ' green and pleasant land' then imo it's well worth it!! :dbgrtmb:

                                Have a good day.
