    Good morning.

We had another great day in the garden yesterday, more borders planted out. Tomatoes and Cucumbers now placed along side the fence in the little sun trap area.
Hubs finished cutting the hedge that runs along the lane, he's also cut most of the back hedging too.

We're off to visit my brother this morning then stopping off to pick up a few groceries, we should be back early afternoon.

So after our meal I'm hoping to get at least a couple of hours worth of planting out done, weather permitting.:fingers crossed:

    Have a fab day everyone.

Morning all. I would say it was a peaceful night ... but there was a screeching owl for a long time but no visitations on the cctv. Apparently I had a nightmare and woke J at 5.30ish. I do remember having a dream where I go anxious. Any old how, we both got up and had a pee around 6 and all four went back to sleep after the neighbour left for work at 6.15 (he has noisy gates).

John has Dentist today so no meeting with J today.

Have a good day whatever you do.

        Good day
It is much warmer today 47F 7C and there is a haze over the sky. I believe that the haze has something to do with the prairie fires out in Alberta. They get these fires every year and for the life of me I cannot figure out why they don't do control burns in advance to create corridors that have nothing left for the fire to eat.

A friend is coming for lunch today. It is a delayed birthday celebration. I've got a sheet of meringues in the oven and when the 2 hours of slow low baking are up, I'll be baking cupcakes and then after that, bread and buns. Granddaughter Emily is here so she can help me decorate the cupcakes. I'll barbecue some burgers and make french fries as a side. :)

His 3 hanging pots are on the front porch ready to go and also a large pot of 4 O'clocks. The 4's aren't very sturdy for some reason so I may switch them out for a canna before he gets here. I don't want to give him a pot of floppy plants!

Sounds like John and J are taking turns in that dental chair @Victoria ! @Upsydaisy I hope your brother is "with you" when you visit today. @redstar it sounds like you have everything set up for the trip and I'm sure all will go as you have planned :blue thumb:

        Cheers :coffee:

          Morning all. Friday, 5/19/23.
Double checked weather for our destination, looks sunny and no rain, so no worry about having the car out the whole time in Springfield, MO. Will get up to the 80's so light clothes to pack.
Brother-in-law again stayed last night, he could not fix his car to travel back to his home, so late last night about 1AM a tow truck too it to "our" car mechanic place about 2 miles up the street. We have an extra car that BIL can use to get home, and have while we are gone. As we are leaving tomorrow early the house will be locked up etc. Have a feeling BIL will not like the "bill". But not my worry. He's always been hard on his cars. BIL lives about an hour from us.
Today is totally clean out fridge day, eat what is there, no "new" cooking.
Have a good few weeks all. Take care.

            It's the weekend! :yes::hapydancsmil:

Had a fabulous visit with my brother yesterday ,he was just like his old self joking away with a mischievous glint in his eye. It was lovely to see but sadly these times are far and few between nowadays. So when they do happen I really treasure them. :imphrt:

When we got back I had a message from my old school friend who sadly lost her husband at Christmas, she suggested we fix a date to meet up at the Pub at the end of my lane for lunch and a catchup. So that's on the calendar for the first week in June. I have spoken to her several times but left it to her to say when she was up to resuming our meet ups.

My sister has one of her grandsons staying with her, so I'm off over to see the gorgeous little cheeky monster this morning. Apparently he was awarded a certificate for trying hard and working well at school this past week and he wants to show it to me.:star:
He knows me well ..as soon as I told him that I was coming over he immediately ask my sister if they could bake a cake....we reached an agreement that a biscuit and a coffee would be absolutely perfect.:coffee::smile:

I hope to continue the planting out this afternoon as I never got to do any yesterday after all.

I hope you had a good nights sleep Vicky with no more nightmares or screeching cats.
Can you recall bits of your dream at all ? I'm not asking you to share with us....just wondered. It might have been a saucy one.;)

How was the BBQ Lori? We had one on Thursday and also batch cooked a load of Chicken portions on it afterwards.

            Safe journey redstar, have fun.

Hi to you too Flumpy if your looking in. Look after yourself.:grphg:

Behave yourselves everyone and have a grand day.

Morning all. No visitations and I slept well/ One walked through The Jungle Room at 9.30 last night but headed back to the orchard. I should call it grove as it is oranges, actually Laranjal. Maybe May Cat Season is subsiding .:fingers crossed: I have had visions of a Queen having her babies here or bringing them here!!! :yikes: :hate-shocked::thud: Now that would be a nightmare!

Upsy, sadly it was not a saucy nightmare. A grocery store was in it and J and my BinL!

              Nothing planned here.

Enjoy your visit Upsy and trust weekend going well with Grandaughter Lori. Safe jouney redstar. Hello Flumpy. xx

                Good day
It is very mild, almost warm at 57f 12c and I am delighted to see it pelting down rain. We really needed some free water.

@Upsydaisy & @Victoria I am have a marvelous time with my granddaughter. We sew for a couple of hours and then she goes to hang out with her cousin 3 blocks from here.

@Victoria I have been having lots of dreams lately that are populated with friends and family who have passed on. Nothing horrific, just very strange.

The barbecue went well. I grilled hamburgers and jumbo hot dogs. The french fries came out perfect - I think you call it armadillo? @Victoria ? And the cupcakes came out well. We did the "butterfly" type of icing application. Scoop out a circle in the middle, fill with icing and then cut the circle you have cut out, in half and put them on top of the icing to look like butterfly wings. It helps with packing too because I always send this fellow home with desserts too and the "wings" keep the wrap from sticking to the icing. He went home loaded with desserts, buns, baguettes, three fully blooming hanging pots and a large pot with saucer holding a red canna lily.

As usual I have lots of laundry to do with it being the weekend and low time of use rates for electric. The weather is supposed to dry up later on and if the guessers are right, it means that tomorrow's load of bed linens can be line dried. Oh how I love that smell of sun dried sheets! :)

I've got some wire work to do and have the soldering iron/supplies set out but I will wait until Emily is up to do any of the joining as she mentioned that she is curious about how it is done.

Have a wonderful day all and cheers! :coffee:

                  Good morning.:)

Lovely day yesterday and looks to be another today as well.

I am getting out into the garden very soon as I want to make an early start. After midday we have absolutely no shade during the late Spring and Summer months. No only will the young plants wilt...so do I now as I age!!!!. :heehee:
I can still work outside in the sun but find carrying trays of plants from the nursery area then digging planting holes....going back and forth for water is just too much in the blaring sun. From now on the majority of 'hard' work will be undertaken in the morning. Whimp that I now am.:roflol:

Yes I agree Lori nothing beats line dried laundry...I always prefer to wait for the right weather than go and load up our drier . We seldom use it so it stays down in the garage.

Enjoy your weather everyone...and don't forget the sunblock!

Morning all. Overcast here but 16c with threats of thunderstorms and perhaps rain. As we are only 15/20 minutes from the mountains, it really rumbles.

Love the bag Upsy and gave J a chuckle.

I don't envy you Upsy having so much to do yet in the garden. I will be my usual lounge lizard self on a Sunday ... we both will, all four will!

                      Morning Vicky.:)

We were supposed to get some thunder this week but fortunately it never materialised. Not keen on it at all.

Oh working in our garden is a pure delight and definitely not looked upon as a chore !!! :imphrt: It's good for keeping my joints well oiled too..added bonus. ;) I think I would get easily bored , I'm not good at sitting and just admiring it..my mind would start planning more changes to it!!:heehee:

I don't let it rule my life at all and think I have a perfect balance of gardening, seeing my local family, days out just hubs and myself and normally a weekly catchup with one friend of another.
This week we have another cinema trip booked, and for the next 3 weeks I have meet ups with various friends on my calendar.

So all in all I love our lifestyle balance.
Winter months are my chill out time for doing other hobbies... when the weather doesn't permit outside ones to be done comfortably.

Last year was difficult as it was way too hot...sometimes to even sit out in what little shade we could make......what's the point of lovely weather when you find you have to sit inside to avoid it....:dunno:
:fingers crossed: We don't get a repeat this year a nice comfortable 22C would suit us perfectly :SUNsmile:

Sometimes I wish I could make myself sit a while....but find it's too impossible as my mind just keeps tempting me with ideas of things to do:biggrin:.

I hope the 4 of you enjoy your perfect day as much as we will ours. Have fun.xxx

                        Morning Upsy xx

I don't mind thunder at all ... it may be the forerunner of rain. ;)

Oh, I know you delight in being in your garden ... as I do in mine ... but in different ways.

We bought this house in June 1997, got the deeds in August and were back here in the October. As you know, it was a deserted weed plot ...
                        CasaDB4.jpg
In 1998, 1999 and 2000 we came over twice a year for two weeks each and worked like slaves on our "holiday" clearing the land whilst builders renovated the house making it habitable. We moved here in 2001 and until five years ago I devoted all my time to the garden till health stopped me. Fortunately I planned and designed a garden for this climate, which of course is evergreen perennials so nature takes care of them except for the occasional human help.

And so now it is time for me to go out and enjoy my years of labour.

Have a lovely day my friend ... and I know you will be sensible and keep out of that sun.

                        Catch up with you later.

                          Good day
It is a lovely 51f 9c and super sunny. Beautiful :)

I've got my usual corrie morning and and plan to pretty much just putter about. Tomorrow being a holiday, Victoria Day, is a low electric rate day so I can put off the vacuuming and such until then.

                          Have a lovely day all.

                          Cheers :coffee:

Morning. Must look for some greetings later. It is a grey start here, not the norm for us. Had a smattering of the wet stuff yesterday (under 2mm)and more forecast for this afternoon.

Nothing going on here today except a run to the Post Office as I am expecting a plant from Spain.

                              Enjoy the film Upsy.
