    Good day
It is 40F now and sunny. It darned near got down to freezing last night :hate-shocked: The guessers say that is that last of these scares.:phew:

I like the bowery boy cat @Victoria. He looks like a handsome rascal. @Upsydaisy I think there are two types of people in this world. One doesn't mind drop in visitors and the other, like me, prefers to know when someone is coming. I'm talking about friends, not family. I don't mind family popping in whenever they want and they do that. I don't care if family see me in my Hilda getup but friends, no, I prefer to be prepared including having things like milk in the house if they are the type who like it in their tea.

My boiler iron system is almost up to pressure and I'm going to work my heart out to get these shades done as far as my aggressive to do list sets out. In a few days it will be lovely out there and I want to be in garden, not the workroom at that time.

I do need to do a little shopping today as well. I have eaten pretty much all of the leftovers and fresh food and the freezer contents aren't exciting my taste buds.

    Best get going here.

    Cheers :coffee:

Hi there Lori, I 'm totally with you on that too ,I like a bit of advanced warning of friends visiting.
Sadly our friend is a massive hoarder and you can't move in her house at all..jammed packed with... well to be brutal.....rubbish!! :yikes::sad:
She lives on her own but pays random people she meets to live with her rent free in exchange for some care assistance now and then, she has the money but cannot be convinced to go down the proper care route. Not that I haven't tried ......even today I did!!. A place like my brothers would be absolutely prefect in every way for her needs.

She is constantly being taken for a ride by these strangers she befriends....the most recent turned out to be very verbally abusive and on numerous occasions some of them have cleaned out her bank account and vanished, some don't help her at all just wanting free board and lodgings.
She has no family to speak of...can't say more for legal reasons. To her we are her family we go to the social and welfare meetings.....not sure why as she refuses to even try out their suggestions., we just go to support her really. We've been friends since before we all got married, her hubs came from the same country as mine there was a large group of us as most had British girlfriends, sadly their marriage didn't work out and he went back home.
We prefer to visit unannounced so that we can judge her current situation and her wellbeing first hand without any ' sprucing up' as it could potentially disguise what is really happening in the current living situation.

Like today...we knocked the door and a 'new young man's answered . I asked to see her and he replied they were preparing to go out as she had an appointment.
I asked to see her and he said she was in the shower. I told him our names and asked him to go and tell her we were here I could hear him calling out to her but giving the wrong names...I walked in and called up to her myself and she called back that she wouldn't be long. The chap wasn't too please that we had followed him back into the house.
I asked him who he was etc. and walked off around the house calling out to all her cats. I walked out into the garden and two came running up to greet us . Hubs and I sat out in the garden with the cats and the chap walked off back into the house.
Saw our friend and apparently this chap was her 'stand in helper' while her (new to us) current one is on holiday for 3weeks. This chap we saw today chargers her £200 a day!!. When we were chatting I mentioned to her that it's a bank holiday weekend coming up, she had forgotten and said ' Oh no!! he'll charge me £400 for bank holiday Monday then '

We really have to do these spot check visits as she is so trusting of people ...many are strangers!!
She is quite disabled as she has had Parkinson's for many, many years now. Very sad state of affairs, if only she would trust the true health care professionals and their suggestions as much as she seems to trust these complete strangers that she meets and invites into her home and then gives them her bank cards and pin nos. so that they can shop for her!!!!!!! :yikes::yikes::thud::thud:

There are evil people out there who can spot vulnerable people a mile away and win them over by being charming and full of promises to help make their lives easier. Not so...if only she would learn from her many past mistakes. She's too nice a person to think bad of anyone.

        Good morning everyone.

Had a super day in town yesterday enjoyed a nice leisurely stroll around. We had a lovely pasta salad lunch.
It's the schools half term holiday next week so we will more than likely stay put as everywhere will be busy and crowded in town. Best avoided if at all possible.:dbgrtmb:

Still not heard from baby son so we'll take that as a sign that it's not this weekend that he coming down.

A bit more planting out is on the cards for today.
        :planting:

        Have a good one !!!.

          Morning all.
Lori, I just love the Cap Boy ... thought he'd make a cute avatar. :cat-kittyandsmiley:

Oh dear Upsy, your poor (not monetary )friend" I wish you or someone could make her see sense! Can you not get Social involved before these con artists bleed her dry?

I forgot J had Dentist yesterday at 4pm ... he was in the chair for 90 minutes and had five upper teeth done. That's it except for the replacement front tooth. During the Pandemic his Dentist was closed and he had a problem so went to the Hospital Clinic I go to in Guia. They x-rayed with t he 'round the head' machine and told him then he needed lots of work done. J being J he did nothing till recently! Say no more.

John is going for his SEF/Border Control meeting in Loule this morning so the boys won't be meeting for lunch.

We may have some more rain later. :fingers crossed:

            Good day
It is 39f 3c and the sun is blasting. The guessers say that it won't get up much past the high 50's or maybe even 60f. Like lots here, we are far behind the temperature rise we usually see at this time.

I'm going to continue working this morning. The boiler system is now up to pressure and ready to start mega steam ironing. It's a bit of a race as the client is due any day now and we're trying to beat the baby with our delivery!

Hopefully by this time tomorrow I'll be getting ready to play outside :fingers crossed:

            Cheers :fingers crossed:

Afternoon to you both...phew finally finished tidying up the ' horrible to work' on clay borders. It was warm work, now inside preparing lunch.

Sadly Vicky as I said in my post we go to ' official ' meetings with her ,which involve her GP, Hospital Consultants, Social Services, Adult Welfare and The Ambulance Service.
She hasn't got Dementia, so is of sound mind that can make decisions for herself....if she refuses help then that's it!!:wallbanging:

Good grief .... I don't think I could keep my mouth open for that long, no definitely couldn't.

              Enjoy your steamy morning Lori...;)

Thought I would end the Bag theme on a garden note with this Leaf Bag.:dbgrtmb:

                Good morning everyone.

I'm in a very, very happy mood today....the sun is shining, it's warm, I managed to get a big chunk of the planting out done yesterday and most importantly...:hapydancsmil::hapfeet::yahoo:....baby son arrived last night !!! As we hadn't heard from him for a couple of weeks I didn't think this would be the weekend he'd be down especially as it's a bank holiday weekend. I thought he would be jetting off somewhere with his friends.

Soooo... a lazy, chilling, catch up weekend it will be and I'm really, really looking forward to it. We haven't seen him since we went up and stayed with him last October, I can't wait to see his pics from his trip to South America .

I hope you all have a fabulously fantastic weekend too. :)

                  Morning all.

Wow Upsy, has it been that long? I thought you saw him earlier in the year after his return from South America? I know you will have a grand weekend! I expect a photo. ;)

J has eye test in Silves later this morning. This afternoon he is delivering the full size keyboard/piano to Vale de Lobo (rich area of Algarve) to a guy whose son has final piano exams on return from half-term holiday! Depends on how long it takes to set it up as to whether I will go or not ... or even if I can fit in the car!!! Thank goodness that is sold as it has been taking up space in The Jungle Room and then The Baffa for a year!

May have a thunderstorm and a wee bit of rain later. :fingers crossed:

                    Morning Vicky.:)

I know!!! Time passes so quickly...it's scary!!

I have 'seen' him via our video calls but not in huggable reach!!!!

We are going to surprise my brother this morning popping round to see him. Just hope he'll remember him:fingers crossed:.

Hmmmmm a perfect pot plant space maybe???;)
                    :hapflower:

Hope you manage to find a seat in the car, as I imagine it'll be a nice run out...but maybe not in the thunder!!

                    Have a great day.xx

                      Good day
It is 50f 14c - really, it is! And sunny too :spinning:

@Victoria I have a full sized electric piano and those things are fairly heavy. I do enjoy the fact that I can use headphones and no one else can hear me mangle the music :heehee:

@Upsydaisy it should be a wonderful weekend with your son and do hope your brother remembers him. That would be a stellar moment. My youngest popped around twice yesterday which was lovely as the second time was after he had picked up Max, the autistic grandson, from school. Max is quite a big fellow now and is a joy to be around. He is pretty much non verbal but has the greatest laugh.

I worked late yesterday as those lovely visits set me back a bit timewise but we all know, family visiting comes first and is the best. It was a game of beat the clock as she is due any day and we wanted to get the master bedroom and nursery windows covered at minimum. She will have all 7 shades  My client will be coming to pick up around 10:30 this morning and then I can go out to play!

I've got my second load of laundry started, some bread dough rising, all of the rubbish and recycle at the kerb and the plants in the little front garden as well as the potted canna up there all watered. I took my heavy winter coats down to the cellar and I hope I haven't tempted the fates. :fingers crossed:

                      Have a wonderful day all

                      Cheers :coffee:

I like the weighted keys feature on these full sized models. Mine is a satin finish instead of polished. 1685195185748-167864791.jpg

J was very impressed with the new Opticians. He is going to try Varifocals. She said if after ??? days he can't adjust she will do two pairs at no extra charge.

Pianoman has now changed to 10am tomorrow and J said John will go with him ... so my outing is off!

No thunder or rain yet but it is still overcast and breezy.

                              Morning everyone.

Oh that's a shame you're not going on the trip Vicky

I've had Varifocals for years now and didn't have any issues apart from going down stairs, I still prefer ( but can now cope) to remove them when doing so.

In the end we didn't go over to my brother's as my younger sister was down and taking him to Salisbury for his Covid jab....the plans are to go today .:fingers crossed:

We had a great day yesterday, sat mostly outside. We enjoyed a BBQ, son made a marinade for the chicken and a Greek Salad....hubs did the cooking...and I did the washing up.:dbgrtmb:
Son went on a run late afternoon then we sat listening to the tales from his recent adventures in South America.

                              Have a super Sunday everyone.
                              :spinning:

                                Morning all.

J is up and getting ready for John's arrival just before 9am so they can take off. It is about an hour's run to Millionaire area. Guess they will be back before noon. I will just potter inside and on the Front of House Patio.

I have started Wordle in Portuguese!!! My first game I got in 2, then 3 and 4 and 3 ... today will be my 5th. I have only had one wrong in English so running 99% correct in 200 games.

J doesn't wear glasses all the time ... one pair for close work and one for TV/driving. We don't have stairs, just the odd one step steps ... three inside, three outside.

Bet you are in Seventh Heaven Upsy .... enjoy.
