Good morning everyone..... take a deep breath and.....relax, it's the weekend!! :yahoo:

We have a chance of a couple of hours worth of rain this morning, so that will help to refill our water butts that we used up yesterday!!

Nothing much else on the agenda so I guess we'll enjoy just ' going with the flow '.:dbgrtmb:

Have a great day yourselves everyone.

      Trees Euphorbia pulcherima.jpeg
Euphorbia pulcherima aka Poincettia. Mine gets tall, 4 meters, but it is cut down to 1.5 meters every March when mine loses its leaves. Sadly I do not get a wide crown as it competes with the Brugmansia and Honeysuckle/Pandorea.

      Morning all.

A quiet stay at home day today for both so just a bit of watering and pottering.

      Have a good weekend everyone.

        Good morning Vicky,

A bit late in responding but I've been researching into how to clean up algae build up in my closed Terrarium.....never had it in the original container.. Panic stations!!!!

One site suggests a few things, rubbing alcohol, diluted bleach etc then others say just water in a closed one! :noidea:

They all say however to do a clean up in the afternoon after the misting has cleared......so :fingers crossed:.

Hope all is good with you both and that the poor Furballs are coping well in your heat.

We've just had a shower of rain...literally for a few minutes....must have been a very quick moving cloud.

Have to decide on my next ' morning theme' I have a few ideas to ease (or not!!) everyone into the new day. :roflol:

        Take care xx

@Upsydaisy...no, not from seed but from a purchased plant..
          20230707_160822.jpg
          Good day,
It is 58f 12c and quite a plunge after the last week of heat.

I've got more laundry on the go and since I did some yesterday, it won't take long at all. And today was everything day so rubbish, recycle, yard waste etc are all out at the kerb awaiting pick up. My usual day is Friday but with the holiday, it was moved forward a day.

@Upsydaisy I forgot to mention that when I bought the 3 Cleome plants, the nursery only had a dozen out and that was their entire crop. I asked about it and it turns out that they too had a bad year for germinating these particular seeds. I cannot figure out why because the seeds that @CarolineL sent me were obviously not the same as the ones the nursery used and yet all us Canucks had problems!

I've got a pretty busy to do list and early evening, I go to the train station to pick up Emily to bring her back for a visit. This is the granddaughter who likes to sew too :)

          Cheers :coffee:

They certainly are tough cookies to get going....this was obviously my year!!...next year zilch I expect.

As I said before I use to grow them but for the last 7-8 years I've fought a losing battle with them.
Why ,why, why ...words that surround the mysterious Cleome!!

            Harvest those seeds!!:dbgrtmb:

Saturday. 2:40 PM. Rushed out this morning to a few "foodie festivals" come home laden with too many calories. Skinny husband better eat most of it. So no cooking for a few days.

But, at about 7Am sitting on my front stoop with my coffee. Had a lovely visit by a hummingbird liking my fresh flowering zinneas, 3 feet from me. He actually then flew close to me, a foot from my face to take a look. I did not move. So joyous.
And I have planted the Clemone seeds in a big 2 foot pot, they are just about to open. Lots of plants, fairly dense. Picture later when they bloom.

I am posting some plants for sale on the local community facebook, who knows, Annabelles and Hardy Geraniums. My Annabelles throw off babies that are easy to cut the long root from the mother and pot up, looks like I can get 6 babies this fall.

Well, that's it folks. Have a grand weekend.

                Good morning everyone.:)

Gosh we had a muggy old day yesterday, not pleasant at all I hope today will be a bit fresher.:phew:

I attempted to make a start at cleaning up the back nursery area , which is now spookily empty of plants...well living ones. There are a few pots which have died back bulbs in them. However I didn't get very far as that is always a real hot spot and it certainly was so yesterday. Hopefully I'll be able to continue my clean up mission today.

We're having a big BBQ cook up later as we've bought a large tray of chicken drumsticks....a couple we'll have for our lunch today and the rest will get frozen.

Hope you all have a blissfully peaceful Sunday.

Today we have a beautiful Magnolia.

Morning all. We had a very, very windy/gusty night and it will continue today with a temp of 33c+. A hot week ahead is forecast.

I have asked J to move some of the big pots around today in order that one with three Mandevillas gets up against a trellis. Other than that nothing is planned except a little watering and a movie this afternoon.

Have a good BBQ Upsy. Too many flies here for such and J said they came and put Citronella tealights on all the tables Friday as there were so many flies ... but the wind kept blowing them out.

Morning Vicky....you're not selling the Portuguese lifestyle very well are you !:heehee:
Too hot to be outside and too many flies for a BBQ!!

Sorry only joking, we have to be very careful about flies too what with all the horses on one side and chicken coops and rabbits on the other.....chickens are worse....gosh so whiffy they must attract critters from miles away. The farm gathers and stores horse manure too.......ahhh a deep breath of country air....you can't beat it!!:thud::roflol:

Which film do you plan on watching today ?

                    Have a fab day.

I so dislike July and August here, always have, but the other 10 are great! Oh, and there's also Tourists!!! The blood Nurse I had Friday said he lives in Silves and I said we don't go South of the N125 (the road that splits Algarve East to West) in July and August and he said he won't in August either. All Tourists are South because of the beaches ... luckily they are not so interested in the orange groves and mountains.

J usually surprises me with films. We watched a Nicholas Cage yesterday. We also finished The Vow about the NEXVM "cult leader" Keith Reniere. Still have some Hinterland to go and I'll Fly Away. What are you watching?

Morning all, Sunday, 73 degrees, 7:25AM here. Rain, and more Rain.

We don't get tourist around my local area, but if you go about 20 mins west that's where you will see many, they come up to see the "Amish" and shop in the "Amish" markets. They like to tour the "Amish Farms and see how they live". So there are a few "set up" places that are arranged , and staged I guess you can say, and also set up "Riding in the Amish carriages pulled by the horse". I guess the Amish has seen a way to make money again, they are very financially savy. We have had a few Amish friends over time, and those that speak frankly to you, I would say would give any CEO a run for his/money. And the Amish children who are working the cash register in the Amish markets can do math in their heads , makes the non-Amish children look stupid. Its not unusual for me to sit on my back deck and hear the clippy clop of the horses on the road above me as they are getting back home etc.

Been watching a few shows on Netflex. Last night watched The Mother, and The outlaws. Working on The Witcher. And working on Is it cake. Usually I sit down at about 7:30PM. prop my feet up and watch something, in my little study.

Certainly looking forward to the new washing machine on Wednesday. Thank goodness I have lots of stuff still.
                            Take care all.

                              Good day
It is 64f 16c but feels cooler as there is a lot of moisture in the air. There are some clouds in the sky and the guessers say those will thicken up and start dropping water here and there.

I love the origami sun flowers @Upsydaisy. I swiped some money out of my grocery budget the other day and in exchange for eating cheap stuff, I've got myself a pretty Mandevilla which has red flowers. I would like a white one too but we'll see. So @Victoria I will have the challenge of overwintering one of those and might be asking you for some advice!

The guessers say that tomorrow will be bright and sunny all day so I am setting aside the laundry that I usually do today, for then as I want to hang it out to be sun dried.

                              Have a lovely day all.

                              Cheers :coffee:
