Going on a healthy hike today to place some flowers from our garden on my parents resting place...a walk of just under 5 miles.

Apart from that just a quiet chilling out day.

      Have a super day too.

Good day and Happy Birthday @Upsydaisy !
It is 59f 13c and there is some blue in the sky. We had a good downpour last evening so all the garden has received free water :blue thumb:

I hope your stroll over to see your parents @Upsydaisy is relaxing and not too hot.

@Victoria I hope that it is also not too hot a day for you. Our rain really cooled things down here and I am liking the freshness.

Emily is back home and I don't go to take Violet to her class for another 2 hours so I shall enjoy have a leisurely time reading the newspaper and catching up here.

          Cheers :coffee:to everyone including @Flumpy @Michael Hewett and @wiseowl :)

Good Morning all, still morning here, 11AM.
Happy Birthday @Upsydaisy , have an awesome day, eat some cake.
Yes, Avon, Honeysuckle, I used to sell Avon products when I was in high school, that was about age 16 years old. For a few years, then the Avon Regional manager stopped me, she said I could not sell it in High School as I was selling to folks that may live in a location that some other Avon seller territory was in, Go figure. OH, Well.

Well, waiting for the new washer delivery, 4 hour window, but have enough to do. Later---guess what---a pile of laundry to do, go figure, LOL.
Working on the next trip, it will be a long one, be gone from home 17 days. Hitting TWO car shows. Mid September. then I think we will be done. The challenge is keeping the distance between hotels duable, does hotels have a big lot for the trailer, and walking distance to a restaurant. That is always the challenge when planning.

Ok, well back to work. hot day today, 81 degrees. hate it.
            Later.

Thanks everyone for you kind birthday wishes. :thankyou:

Snap redstar !!! I was both an Avon Rep and a Tupperware one too.....I was even a top regional Tupperware Seller Rep once!!
I took on this extra work when I first got married, fulltime I was a manger of a Hairdressing Salon. Hubs had trouble securing a job that not only matched his highly qualified background as a PHD Pure Mathematician but matched anything!!!!! due to the crisis and unrest in his home country . We had a few hard years at the start of our marriage ..but we made it!! :imphrt:
Use to remind me of the the saying .. Judging a person does not define who they are but defines who you are!!

@Upsydaisy , yes, recall way back when you could only get Tupperwear at a "House Party", probably attended at least one back in the day.

Back when we first got married, husband was under contracts at 3 different places for his skills, then the contacts would not renew or something. So he decided to just start his own business. Meanwhile I am working full time, and my health insurance could cover him. In fact as his "small business" continued, the health insurance for an indiviual is nuts, so we continued to use what my job had for the "spouse". Years later, business going strong, I am still working full-time. Then as one is ready for retirement, he sold his business to a similar person with same skills. I did help him start his business being a Marketing Director etc.
So goes that part of my life.

That's right redstar :) It was all about signing up people to host a party . I would put together a package that included recipes, tips on food presentation and storage and games that resulted in the winner receiving a Tupperware item.Great fun was had by all...usually managed to sneakily get a few Avon orders as well ;)

                      Morning all.

It will be another hot and breezy day. The fire I mentioned 10 miles from us in the weather thread is still ongoing and there is a massive one up Lisbon way.

So pleased you had a grand day Upsy and hope you get your rain and that R is fine when you visit.

Long term friends (he since 1984) arrived here yesterday from Surrey for a five-day break at the Spa Hotel in Olhau and are coming for a visit this afternoon. They do several cruises every year plus small holidays in between. If I remember correctly they have cruised around the Caribbean and Thailand so far this year and a couple a weeks ago were in Turkey (or Greece), now here.

Morning all. 7:21Am here, threatening to get to 90 today, horrid.

Washer got here just fine, but the drain out hose that came with it did not work with the plumbing we had, ran to Home Depo for another type, and that one worked, did 3 loads. Machine works fine. has more fancy dials and what nots on it that my old one. The drum also seems larger, good I guess, now I can do my mattrace cover at home and not go to the laundromate.
@Upsydaisy , I am a little ahead of you, already started the 70, soon to be 71. If it was'nt for my arthritis I 'd be fine, I keep on moving, that helps. But those long drives we make, I step out of the car and have to stand a bit before my one knee is ready, SMH. I take some herbs etc to help, I hope, man made to scary with the side effects. Thanks for the chess set. Played a new guy on Tuesday, we played two games, both we took a draw, got down to both of us having hardly any pieces left to check mate.
The trip in September is all organized with hotels now, worked on that off and on yesterday, we leave Sept. 5, and return the 19th, two car shows, first one to Michigan--that is west of us, then go East to Vermont, then home. And that will be it for the year. Tired just thinking about it. We leave July 30 for the one in Kentucky.
Have a good day all. Off to do something. Always something.

                          Hello again to you all.

How lovely having your friends over Vicky...lots to catch up on I expect..

That nearby fire looks and sounds horrific, has it blown your way and polluted your air ??
                          Take care.xx

redstar I have no real complaints about my health...yes I had a dodgy knee a couple of years ago but had surgery last year ,weather depending it can get a tad niggly at times , and the normal degenerative arthritis with a touch of Osteoporosis in my lower spine ...like most at this age but on the whole I consider myself fit for my age. Like you I keep on the move and to be honest since we decided for my hubs to cut back on driving and now we walk and bus it more we have felt the benefits and truly feel so much fitter. It was so easy to just hop in the car for trips of 3 miles and under ....now we just walk it!:)

I take nothing other than VitD and Probiotics....I stop the VitD around April/May as we spend most of our days outside so I get my quota naturally, restart them beginning of Nov.

It just makes me feel a little sad to wave goodbye to another decade... they are like old friends that we share so many memories with.
I suppose I should think positive and greet my 70s next year like a new ,exciting friend.....I'm trying....honestly!!;)

I bet you had a great time yesterday Vicky with your friends, did you all go to out for lunch?

red star it certainly sounds fun but I can imagine it must be very tiring too for you both.

Lori I hope your not overdoing things....you seem to be rushing here ,there and everywhere doing this and that...some of your posts are very exhausting to read.:heehee:.

Michael how are you , hope your garden is enjoying the rain...that is of course if you are fortunate to have got some.

Flumpy , I know what you're going through and my thoughts are constantly with you. Keep strong .

Right I'm off to put my wellies on and splash in all the puddles........if, at long last, our forecast proves correct.:fingers crossed::fingers crossed::fingers crossed: So far it's just damp out there and nothing is actually falling....having said that except for a tree opposite.:yikes::noidea:
Saturday we are supposed to have strong winds to battle with......just in time to batter and breakdown all the plants!! My poor Lillies and Dahlias, I won't be able to look out the window!!:yikes:

                            Enjoy your day.

                            :spinning:

Good morning @Upsydaisy and everyone ... yes the weather is making up for the rain we didn't have in April May and June !

Someone is clever to have made that origami cactus, thanks for showing it Upsydaisy
I started collecting cacti in 1965 when I was a teenager. I was in Ilfracombe on a holiday with parents and brother, and one rainy day we went to Barnstaple, and I saw a florist shop where they were selling cacti so I bought one.

Then that same year a man living near us died suddenly at Christmas and his wife gave me some of the cacti he had in his greenhouse.
Every time I saw a shop selling them I would buy one and when I went to college my father looked after them.

When I moved out to my own place I took them with me, and after I met Beryl she started collecting them too.
Now I've got over 100 different species and almost as many succulents. The oldest ones are quite big now, although lots have died over the years.

Have a lovely day splashing  xx

I have run out of trees so will have to put my thinking cap on, but I had this tree house.

                                Morning all.

Had a great time with our friends and lots of chatter and laughs. Haven't seen them since October 2017, the week before my trauma began that month on Friday the 13th. They arrived at 2pm so no we did not go out but stayed in The Baffa in a lovely 22c till 6ish. We may be coming out of this heatwave we are under till 10pm today. It is very tiring. ... it got to 37c yesterday! They brought me a lovely purple Calla Lily.

A quiet day and weekend are ahead, except for J meeting John for lunch today.
