Eek @Goldenlily26, not the hallowed cricket square!! :love30: That's akin to treason! Why do we gardeners rush into all our jobs as soon as Spring hits us and then wonder why we get bad backs? Take is easy (ier!) today. Good idea about the bean cultivation.
@Bluejayway - I better make an appointment to have my ears syringed! :roflol:

Well, I have just had a pleasant surprise in the form of an email from United Utilities informing me that my payments have been reduced. When I had my water meter fitted 10s of years ago I couldn't believe how much money I was saving and to date I am still not paying even half of what it was costing me per month before the meter was installed. :spinning:

That's good to know, @Ladybird4. I'm seriously thinking about having a water meter installed. Could you tell me a little on how to go about it please?
I've mopped floors, set the fire and am about to go out and play with the compost. I need more for seed sowing.
It's cloudy but the early fog has cleared. The forecast says dry with some sunshine- that doesn't look likely from where I'm sitting. It's going to be a wet week though, so I must do what I can outside.
Have a lovely day all, whatever is planned.

            Yes! The hallowed turf!
The chap who does most of the mowing for the cricket club would have gone berserk. He goes all peculiar when a dog runs across it when he takes the fencing down to mow.

Did you know ear syringing is no longer available on the NHS. Funding has been withdrawn. You have to find an Ear Clinic and pay for the service. Also, the old warm water and syringe method is no longer used. They use suction equipment, sounds like fire crackers going off in your ears and can be quite uncomfortable.(The voice of experience)

I remember having my ears syringed a few years back at the GP's. On the way back to the office when I worked along the High Street, a bus put on its air brakes near me and I jumped in fright, it was so loud in my newly unplugged ear'ole!

I know what you mean. The world sounds unbelievably noisy when you have had your ears cleaned out.
Much like the world appearing much brighter when you clean your spectacles! Or you dust the TV screen.

Morning, all. It’s a glorious sunny morning here, overlooking the sea. It was a bit foggy at home, but the drive through the lanes near the river was magical. All the daffodils and blossom showing through the mist, it was quite otherworldly. Then climbing out of the valley to brilliant sunshine.
Hoping we will get an hour or even two gardening before the projected rain arrives. It was good to get out early before the kids and holidaymakers arrive, but the hour change has really messed me up. I didn’t think it would, as we have been waking up early for the last couple of weeks. Now I’m struggling to get my eyes open at 8am, despite having lights out soon after 10pm ( 9pm old time!)
@pattie, our old water bill was based on our council tax, which is horrendous. When we got our water meter fitted, the bills dropped to a fraction of what they were before. You should be able to find the information you need on line, or on your last water bill?

Morning all, I hope everyone had a good Easter holiday.

I am very sad to tell you that my much loved younger brother Richard died peacefully in his sleep early on Saturday morning. He was only 73 but had suffered heart problems all his life so it was not unexpected.

Good morning everyone. It's looking like a nice day but sadly I'm working, so no getting stuck into the gardening. I might get a quick turn around the garden at lunchtime.
Edit: what sad news @lizzie27. Your post appeared while I was typing mine. I hope you can treasure the good memories of him

                          Good morning,

It’s getting cloudy again, I suspect more rain is on its way. It does feel milder though. I might do a bit of weeding, though, if it stays dry long enough.

So sorry to hear the news about you brother @lizzie27. Even when expected, it’s still a shock.
