@pattie, regarding the water meter, it is so long since I had mine installed but I suspect the easiest thing is to contact your water supplier. The meter can be situated either outside of your property or inside. I opted for inside and it is only about the size of a baked bean tin.
@Goldenlily26, I didn't know that about ear syringing but as I was only joking it is not a real problem.

I am so sorry to hear of your brother's death @lizzie27, but I'm glad it was peacefully in his sleep. I did wonder as we haven't heard from you since Friday. I hope your SIL is OK.

So sorry for your loss @lizzie27, I'm reminded that grief is the price we pay for love. x

It's taken a while to read the postings on this thread, and I only missed a day. It's lovely to read everyone's chatter. Got a busy afternoon for me today in the garden, above all else I need to tidy things up and regroup!

          Enjoy you day every one.

A very good (late) morning to you all. I'm still trying to find my way round here. I wonder if the admin have an OS map of the place? Or do we have to find our way through trial and error?

I've just noticed that I have a cherry tree blossoming in our front garden! I don't suppose it's a fruiting cherry though.

I guess I'll find out later in the year. It certainly looks different to our previous cherry tree, which was well rounded. This one is tall and narrow.

Is it an Amanagowa (sp?) @RowlandsCastle ?
We had one at a previous house and it was lovely.
              I miss it!

It could be Prunus Amanogawa @RowlandsCastle. This is a more upright growing flowering cherry and it is purely ornamental.

                      Thank you @Bluejayway and @Ladybird4
I'm not surprised it could be a flowering cherry only, although my wife will appreciate not having cherries dropping, or birds creating mess on the car.

Some of the flowering cherries (the non-sterile ones) can still produce fruit @RowlandsCastle , it's just small and not particularly tasty.

Ah, well. I guess I will find out, later in the year.
Our previous cherry tree was a heavy cropping one. I used to take 1lb bags of cherries to work, and sell them. One year we had well over 100lbs, so sold the majority to the local greengrocer.
That was before my jam-making days!!
We would find out the going price each year, and sell ours at half price. We used to have a day out on the proceeds of our sales each year.

Hugs for you @lizzie27 and hope you can dwell on the good times you shared as well as your grief at losing him.

@RowlandsCastle How did you stop the birds getting them? We've inherited some very bland yellow ones we're happy for the birds to get but they also strip all the tastier red ones too, just before they're ripe enough for us to eat.
