Yes @Ladybird4 She was painting the yellow and black pirate ship in one of the photos. I'm glad that you liked them. In fact, she was the only artist that I saw - usually there are a few at these sorts of festivals.

        Hi all

Word of advice, never have more than one tradesman working around the same area, at the same time. We have the painter and an electrician sorting our outside lights, and it is carnage, I can't bear to look at what they are doing to my plants.

PS @Ladybird4 Did you manage to contact "Biglad" and tell him which tree we are hiding behind?

What a lovely, inspiring post, @AuntyRach. I shall forget being soaked through this morning by the April showers and instead think of the joys the month will bring.:gardening:

Ooh no @Punkdoc I hope they don't do too much damage. Our landlord came to fix the fence around this time last year. Luckily I was able to dig up a few plants and put them back when he'd finished. Not specimen plants or anything valuable, but they're my children..

                Afternoon all.
Thank-you to @RowlandsCastle & @Tui34 for the beautiful photos (there are few things as elegant as a sailing ship, in my humble opinion), and also to @AuntyRach for the nice words from the almanac.

My continued best wishes to @lizzie27 at this very difficult time.

@pattie Here is a link to a video clip of a certain money saving expert offering advice on whether to get a water meter:

Enjoy the remainder of your days folks.

Thank you @Badly_Maintained . That's interesting and very informative.
I have completed a calculation questionnaire and reckon we'd save about £70 annually which fits in with the water company's costs based on the number of people living in my home and the approx usage of water per week.
Maybe this will persuade OH to go ahead with getting one...:noidea:

I think my water bill was calculated on number of bedrooms (or a random number generator set at ‘extortionate’) so we changed to a water meter asap and are saving hundreds of pounds per year. Hundreds. Can’t predict if everyone would save like that, but worth researching.

Yes, Martin Lewis mentioned that if you have the same or more bedrooms than the number of people living in your house, it's worth getting one.

In our last house turned a bedroom into a wet room as the only bathroom was down stairs. Notified house insurance company and was very surprised when they reduced my bill. Queried this and they stated my insurance was based on the number of bedrooms.

Afternoon all, many thanks for your kind wishes @Anna42, @Debs64, @Coccinella and @Badly_Maintained.

@Debs64, hope today is not too manic and @Coccinella, hope you feel better soon.

@Badly_Maintained - you keep mentioning your bad migraines which is worrying. Have you consulted your GP recently about these? They do seem to be getting more frequent.

I had to go into town again today to have my haircut which I'd forgotten about so my daughter dropped me at the bus drop on her way home. I had an unusually long wait in horribly wet and windy weather. I came straight home only to find that the bus company have now cancelled the nearest bus stop to us and got dumped at the next one up the hill which necessitated an even longer walk. I compensated by eating chocolate egg after lunch!

Happy Birthday to @Wonky Womble for tomorrow.

Good afternoon all. Had a great trip to the nursery today - despite the torrential rain. I got some of the plants I wanted and helped my friend with all her selections.
Late last year, I watched Monty advising people how to save seed from their own tomatoes. I duly did this and carefully looked after the seeds. When I came to sow some the other day, could I find the little perishers? No! I suspect I may have taken the 'envelope' of kitchen paper containing them and recycled it. Rats and drat. Make a note to self - just buy a fresh packet of seed for goodness sake!

@Tui34, I sent several messages to Biglad before the demise but unfortunately I didn't hear anything back from him. I know he was busy and hadn't been around for a few days but I really hope he has a look round and finds his way here. I loved his posts. He used to make me laugh a lot.
