I have never been to IKEA

 

Been AWOL as had a busy (but fun) Easter break. Getting my gardening head back on now.

Lots to catch up on on here, but wanted to send big hugs to @lizzie27. Such a sad time for you all.

 

I went to the store at Gemini on the day it was first opened by Bill Tarmey and Elizabeth Dawn, the actors who played Jack and Vera Duckworth in Coronation Street. They were great. Long will the phrase 'my little swamp duck' live in my memory.

 

I haven’t been able to work out to get in again, and just mentioned it to Hubbya minute ago, who grabbed my iPad, clicked something, and here I am! Der,. I’m too old for computer stuff.

Only been to Ikea once (the one at Gemini @Ladybird4) and was totally confused . Now I occasionally look at it online and maybe one day I'll buy something. They won't get rich from me

Sometimes I wonder, Dove.
It’s one of our grandsons 25 th birthday. Had a short chat to him and wished him well. Hubby transferred some money to him. He’s a good young man.

 

@Bluejayway that is exactly how I feel about the Gemini store. I haven't been for many years but I would go if needed. The last things I bought online and had delivered from there were two cake carriers and I do have to say that I recommend these for anyone who does a lot of baking and transporting of cakes or cupcakes to coffee/tea mornings.

 

Good morning all.
I remember going to an IKEA once when it first opened. The roads were packed, the store was packed- what a nightmare. We trundled round like lost souls and eventually found our way to the checkout and exit. We thought that whilst there, we'd buy something. OH grabbed a pack of tealights... that was a mistake. We queued for hours, it seemed. All for some wretched tealights! Never again.
I'm just about to have my one and only coffee of the day, will run the vac around, de ice the big freezer and then flump. It's too wet and cold to be outside.

I love Ikea, it's like a big Aladdin's cave! What I hate is getting there. My nearest is in Bordeaux and very confusing to find, loads of traffic.

I won’t mention the weather!!
@bigbore we once went to IKEA and only wanted one item so we weren’t keen on the one way system making us go all around the store.
I asked a staff member and she kindly showed us the doors the staff use to get around quicker.
We were very grateful as we were in and out in no time!!!
