@RowlandsCastle - no, never and not ever! :)
@Brenda - that is what I hate in IKEA - those one way signs are crazy.Mind you, I haven't been for aeons so maybe things are different now. I used to ignore the first floor altogether and just go to what was then called 'The Market Place' where they had all the interesting little stuff. That was definitely my favourite bit.

Morning all. Working again today, after my tea break ☕
When I asked my mother if there was anything she'd like to do on Mothers Day this year, she said she wanted to go to IKEA :yikes:, so we went (they don't drive so it's not easy to get to on her own). I can't say I was impressed but I did pick up a few odds and ends.

              Morning folks.
Cheeky day off as doing 12 hour shift tomorrow.

I’m sure the leaves on the trees are coming out before my eyes! I have quite a few Acers and they are bursting open with that lush lime green that shouts Spring.

              Have a good day all.

Yippee. I’ve caught up at last. Best wishes to all. Wonky, you too. I’m sure you’re still loving your gardening life.

As usual, the weather channel was promising rain and we still haven’t had a drop. But - this morning they were talking about snow on our high areas (Perisher etc) and I’ve been rugged up in a lap-rug all day. As I read some of your posts, I think of things I want to write, but by the time I get to the end, I’ve forgotten what I was going to write about.

we’ve discovered a new “Who dun it” and we are enjoying it. “The Chelsea Detective”.

The Vera series has produced another series which we are looking forward to. Also, Death in Paradise. Great!

I think I must be an oddity, then, but I love IKEA! We were visiting relatives in Sweden about 53 years ago, and they took us to the original store, a round building in Stockholm. OH and I were trying to furnish our first home on a very tight budget, and were absolutely gobsmacked at the stylish furniture and the reasonable prices. The only equivalent here was Habitat, and we were happily muddling along with a donated bed and wardrobe, two camping chairs and a wooden salmon box with a tray balanced on top! We were so excited when they finally opened a store in the UK.
I also hate having to wait months for things. It just suits me to pop down to the store, see what I want, and somehow cram it into the car to take home on the same day! ( we once brought home two dining tables and six chairs, flat packed, in the back of an Audi 80! That was a great car!)
So we have lots of Ikea furniture. We have an IKEA only 20 minutes drive from home now, and are now capable of walking round to see what’s new, and come out without buying anything! Just as well, I must confess to still having a drawer full of unused tea lights!
But I do think Ikea is great, our recently installed kitchen is excellent, and we love our sofas with removable and washable covers. As long as you steer clear of their more avant garde offerings (like industrial style cabinetry with wire mesh fronts) you may well see something you like.

Morning everybody, we've actually got sunshine at the moment but it doesn't feel very warm. I've got the windows open to air the rooms after the cat went home with my daughter yesterday.
Hopefully will get a chance to get into the garden later but I do feel rather tired this morning so not planning to do much.

@PatE, glad you made it back on here. Don't like the mention of snow though!

@Chicky, thank you for your kind wishes.

@Busy-Lizzie, hope the gates are repaired soon, such a nuisance for you.

@Ergates, I like Ikea too but don't go very often now, it's quite a trek over to Bristol via the M4 and M32. I treat it as a day out, have coffee and/or lunch there and just meander around. Always come back with something, their storage/kitchen stuff is usually good. Our Ikea kitchen is now 16 years old and still looking good so enjoy yours.

Have a good day everyone and enjoy your day off @AuntyRach.

I saw things I liked in IKEA (and lots that I didn't) but I saw very very little that I needed. I bought a chopping board, and two pairs of rubber gloves (size small) for a pound each. They're hard to find now that Wilko has gone, most places only have medium or large, and if they turn out to be decent quality and long-lasting I'll go back for more at some point. We also bought mattresses in IKEA a couple of years ago because they seemed as comfortable as some that were five times the price (or more). But I don't like the "experience" which seems to be what they're trying to market. I like to be able to go into a shop and go straight to what I want without being routed all around the houses to get to it.

Our nearest IKEA is about 100 miles away. There was a small one in Norwich which sold some small stuff and I think you could Click & Collect some things from there .. but it closed.

Our nearest is Sheffield so 40 minutes or so drive, but it could be a detour on the way to my parents. I'll have to see if they do click and collect for the small items, that would save walking all around the shop.
Edit: It seems there's no minimum order for click & collect . I'll try it sometime.

                            Morning all.
Happy Birthday to Wonky Womble! (she is @Dovefromabove 's Daughter)
An overcast day with rain last night, but light winds and not particularly cold. Hung the washing out more in hope than expectation :)
Much more enjoyably, I've been planting more of my hardy annual seeds (they are left over from last year, so I'll hope for the best).
                            Have a wonderful day folks.

Hello all, I'm dodging around the electrician at the moment. It's a beautiful day here.
Our nearest IKEA is just outside Toulouse and a nightmare to get to. We ordered a lot of units from there for our new utility room and had it all delivered, its so versatile.
OH keeps finding other jobs for the electrician to do, I dread to think what the bill will be like! :yikes:
                              Happy birthday @Wonky womble
