    Hi all

Well it's not raining, and it is very warm, so some progress.

Grey and dull, and pretty windy here. We are hopefully outside the main area that will be affected by Storm Katherine, but the trees are waving about and there are white horses on the sea.
Looks like another day inside, decorating, although I’m very keen to get out and retrieve some of the baby hostas from the top of the two pots on the patio.
Despite my best intentions, I haven’t yet started filling the green bins! Still another 10 days to go, but I so want to avoid the last minute panic. Must remind myself that if the weather doesn’t cooperate, there isn’t much I can do.
On my nightly trip out to the garden with the fox/ badger’s tea, I saw a frog loitering by the side of the steps. It quickly hopped off out of the torch light. Two nights ago, I met a rather cute toad. Hopefully, they will start to make an impact on the slug population.
There has also been a noticeable rise in the number of woodlice wandering around. First task in the morning is to relocate them outside before we accidentally tread on them. OH won’t pick them up, but does come and tell me where the offenders are, by which time they’ve often taken cover! Annoying, as every room has a glass tumbler on a piece of card ( usually the pretty front of a birthday or Christmas card) at the ready for evicting spiders! It would be helpful if he would at least corral them for me!

Good morning everyone. Thought it was about time I started joining in with the chat thread instead of just reading it. Lovely to 'see' so many familiar 'faces' from GW and also to 'meet' some of the GC regulars.
There are some names I'm not sure if they're people I 'know' or not so will occasionally have to ask. We were away at the end of the world (literally) with very slow internet when the whole GW saga unfolded so I'm several steps behind in finding my way around.
I've bookmarked this thread (thank you BL for pointing out the 'First Unread' button I'd missed that) and have put a couple of posts on other gardening threads so, hopefully, I'll catch up soon.
Meanwhile belated Happy Birthday wishes to Wonky!

Warm but very windy today. Will weed the raspberry patch (sheltered there!) and cut the grass. Might also prune the cornus - bit late for that but, hey ho.

:sign0016:@Topbird. I think you will soon get the hang of things! Are you completely recovered from your wonderful Antarctic trip? I've had a recce in the garden deciding where I want some things to go and later I'll be getting stuck in.

I haven’t found the First Unread particularly helpful, as I seem to come onto the thread at the last posted message, and have to scroll back. The unread ones do seem to have a New sticker on them, so that helps.

Edited to add that I’ve just pressed the go to First Unread button, and it did take me back to the first one marked unread. I’m sure I’ll get the hang of it in time!

That’s sort of how I do things @Ergates … and I use New Posts most of the time.

                  Good morning,

A blustery morning and set to get stronger this afternoon. As long as it stays dry long enough for the remaining bedding I’ve got in the machine to dry on the line :fingers crossed:.

Lovely to see you @Topbird. Hope your trip to Antarctica was all you dreamed it would be - look forward to seeing some pics if you want to post any.

I think it’s going to be too windy to do any proper gardening here today. I don’t have a big greenhouse to escape to, only a couple of those small ones.

                  Have a good day.

Good to see you @Topbird :yay:

There’s a half plucked and half eaten woodpigeon corpse in the garden behind the amelanchier … looks like a sparrow hawk has been busy. The brown slugs are feasting on it at the moment … I’ll dig a hole and bury it in in a corner of the veg patch in a bit …

                      Hello @Topbird.
It's rather cloudy now but it's a heady 14C, warmer than my living room! I've just eaten some warm crumpets with butter (although I shouldn't). I'm glad I hadn't read Dove's post about the pigeon before my food!
A walk soon once OH comes back from golf and he's had his lunch.

                          Good morning (just) readers.

Having a quiet day today. It’s still grey here but noticeably mild, albeit breezy.

Bedroom tv went kaput for the third time this month! It’s the little LEDs inside that blow and, like fairy lights, the whole thing goes out if one light breaks. Luckily OH is a whizz at mending tech and the price is only that my dining room table constantly looks like a cross between Santa’s workshop and an electronics factory.

                          Have a smashing weekend everyone.
