Your trees are looking beautiful @Ante1. My friend who has the Heritage Orchard was talking with me yesterday and he was worried that the storm may strip the flowers from his pear trees. He is going to arrange a time in about 2-3 weeks when the apple blossom should be at its best and I will go up for a visit and get some pictures.
@Busy-Lizzie, enjoy your day with your family.

@Brenda, well done on all your gardening hard work yesterday. One day soon I know I will be able to say I've finished tidying up. crossed-fingers_light-skin-tone_1f91e-1f3fb_1f3fb.png

          Good morning all :coffee1:
I hope everyone’s weathered the storm ok :fingers crossed: It’s 13C and a beautiful morning here in Norfolk. Blue sky with white fluffies.

OH will be working today and son has left early to go on a trip with a friend so once I’ve got washing on the go made a loaf and set it to prove and prepped supper etc I’ll get on with turning over the veg patch .., I got a decent area done yesterday much to the delight of our robin who was busy getting lots of worms, and our brown bin is nearly full of selfsown forget me nots and flippin Geum urbanum which has been trying to colonise the veg patch. I think and hope tomorrow is the fortnightly collection day

Since whenever it was when my dodgy knee gave way and I fell in the garden and broke my foot I try to remember to have my mobile in my pocket so I can summon help if I need to. It was no fun crawling painfully on my hands and knees to the house then trying to find a way to stand up so that I could open the door. It’s a bit of a nuisance but I’m afraid I’m beginning to assume that if something can go wrong it will … and it puts OHs mind at rest if he’s at work and he knows I’m planning to do stuff in the garden.

Supper today will be a piece of local Red Poll brisket … I’ll do it with carrots and onions in the slow cooker and add some large potato chunks for the last hour … we love it when the potatoes absorb all the flavours like that. The juices will be marvellous reduced down with a bit of mustard or horseradish … probably horseradish … and I’ve got some beautiful purple sprouting broccoli from the farm shop.

Don’t know if son will be eating here this evening but if he is he’ll probably prefer more of the lasagne we had yesterday (there’s plenty … I made two big ones).

Have a lovely Sunday everyone :spinning:

Didn’t get any gardening done yesterday, yet again. We did get a really decent walk in the morning though, the first for ages. We really notice how unfit we feel if we don’t get out for some fresh air and exercise. A combination of foul weather, and OH having a foot problem has really up set our routine over the last few months.
I was again thwarted by the weather yesterday afternoon. We went out to refill the bird feeders, and I took the opportunity to walk round and see what the plants are doing. Lots of primroses, and the dicentra are starting to flower. Lots of wild garlic unfortunately, it has taken over a whole section of path. Headed back in to get my gardening tools, and it started to rain, and that continued on into the night.
Pretty grey and dull out, and I haven’t got up yet. OH woke early to watch the motor racing, which he said was boring, and has gone back to sleep. I’ll stay here in the warm and scroll through the posts on here for a bit longer!
The picture is of a baby rabbit in the garden, in the middle of the spent snowdrops. The pieris and camellias have put on a good show this spring.

@Brenda, you are so right about the complete cycling of work in our gardening seasons.
@Dovefromabove, enjoy your day and then your evening with your son - whatever he decides to eat!

Good morning all, well the promised heat didn't materialize yesterday, in fact it was quite chilly. It's quite murky and chilly this morning but dry. I had a few Salvias in pots which had become root bound so we planted them in the ground yesterday. Harriett hare is still paying us a twice daily visit, she has a favourite border of grass to nibble, goodness knows why when we are surrounded by fields!
                  Enjoy your day everyone

@floralies I once had a hare in my old garden. She made a form in my big herbaceous border and one day 4 baby hares came out and played on the lawn! After that they all left and I didn't see them again. She probably thought it was a safe place.

Very sensible to carry your mobile phone, @Dovefromabove. A lesson to all the rest of you out there, before you learn the hard way! Have some way of summoning assistance just in case.

I now carry our little walkie talkie radio when I’m working outside. Much of the garden is out of sight and sound of the house, and I’ve twice had to drag myself up a slope on hands and bloodied knees, because OH hadn’t known I needed help.
Another friend fell and broke her shoulder, and had a real struggle to get back up and into the house. And many years ago, I was standing at a bus stop when I heard faint cries from behind a high hedge nearby. Went to investigate, and found an elderly lady lying in her front garden, where she had been for a couple of hours. Called an ambulance and got her wrapped up until it came, but it was just so lucky I had heard her over the traffic noise. And that I didn’t have my ears plugged in to a mobile phone!
                      Gardening is a dangerous sport!

Didn’t look in yesterday so very sorry to read your news this morning @steephill. A horrible shock for you all. Take care :wub2:

Got some gardening done yesterday and planning more today. I am also way behind with my tidy up.

But we did get our potatoes in yesterday …..will now be checking daily for signs of new shoots.

Also got our annual cycling trip to Holland booked - going right to the North - Groningen - this time. Need to get the bikes out to get my stamina built up before June.

Late on parade today, few beers and a curry with friends last night, not often I am still putting the world to rights at 2am.

I lived and worked in Groningen for a year, @Chicky

                              Good morning all.

I’m having a lazy morning here. I do have a list of jobs to do but mostly uninspiring HW and work prep. I’ve caught up on GW from Friday - a lovely programme again.

Have a decent Sunday folks whether you are having a quiet one, a busy one or something in-between.
