Still here at our Airbnb in New Bern, NC. according to what they say the path of the Eclipse will not pass this way well. Shame. But I guess I will try to see something at about 2PM. We do have awesome sunsets off our dock.

@redstar, how much longer are you there? Its a pity you might have missed the eclipse. It would have been lovely to have been able to see that reflected in the water near your Airbnb.

            Good evening folks.
Just having a post-work cuppa and read before tackling the recycling/bins to put out for the morning.

No washing up for @Dovefromabove with the cut finger. You might be able to get away with that for the rest of the week;)

I hope everyone is doing ok.

I've a Quiz League Match tonight so I'll get my brain in gear - while I still can - and I'll see you around tomorrow.

Been reasonably dry here today but still with a strong breeze. Forecast says that bad weather will return overnight and last until lunchtime tomorrow. Daughter is just running the rubbish and recycling sacks up our long drive on the quad, collections early tomorrow morning and she will already be in work by then.
Look after that finger @Dovefromabove , you dont want any infection to start up.
Have a lovely meal this evening @Punkdoc looking forward to reading the menu when you post it for us.
Good luck at the Quiz tonight @Ladybird4 hope you manage to sort out your 'technical difficulties' in time.

Yep, I think most of we gardeners have done similar with secateurs and the like. I hope it heals quickly @Dovefromabove.
I managed a walk this afternoon to stretch my legs but it's so wet and muddy. The dog rolled in the grass and had a muddy streak from top to tail. I saw a lady with a little girl, washing her car with a bucket of soapy water. I asked if when she finished the car she could wash my dog!
Good luck with the quiz tonight @Ladybird4.

Looks like I’m not the only one dragging the recycling bins down to the road this evening!
Yet more rain here. We took ourselves out to the RSPB shop to restock with bird food, and made the mistake of thinking we might take a quick look in the nearby Ikea.Looks like every family in Devon had the same idea, so we just did a slow circuit of the packed out car park, and left without stopping. Not a surprise.
Popped into Wickes instead, which was almost empty, and got paint samples for the bedroom to try out with the Teal feature wall. Someone on here mentioned Duck Egg, so we’ve got a sample of that, and one called Cloud. I’d really like to be the person that picks the names for paint colours, or lipstick and nail varnishes! I think I’d find it a lot of fun!

I love looking at the names they come up with for paint colours etc too @Ergates!
There’s an advert for something where they have joke colours for off-white like “snowman’s bone” and “poached smoke” - funny. There used to be a quiz on Radio 1 called “Pigment or Figment?” where you had to guess whether a name was a real or not…

                      “Gardener’s Thumb”?
                      “British drizzle”?
                      “Dead salmon”?
                      “Mole’s breath”?

                      (Two are real)…

Hi all. Back from Scotland. It was a trip full of highs and lows but I did get a lot done. Sold mums car and closed her bank accounts, so most of the admin stuff is now completed on the UK side. Still a bit of tax stuff to do as our French banco seems to have lost the tax refund check! On the good side we spent 10 great days with our son, makes me réalise how much I miss having him around.

Sounds a tough trip @Jacquiscrap, my apologies (and condolences) if I missed one of your earlier posts. Lovely, as you say, to spend time with your son though, such moments to be treasured.

I'm hoping to see my son and family at the weekend so looking forward to that.

I was speaking to one of my neighbours today. She informed me that the soil here is ericaceous. I'm not sure, but if she's right, then I wasted money buying sacks of ericaceous compost to plant my blueberries in. One sack per plant!!
                              DOH! :wallbanging:

Morning everyone. Brrr. It’s cold and as predicted, there is a light sprinkling of snow up at Thredbo. Feels like it’s here.
