@Ladybird4, we’ve had our son’s dog for holidays since she was a pup, and she is now 13! If she had been at all dog friendly, we would have had one of our own by now, and taken turns with holiday cover with our son. Unfortunately, while she is a complete softie with people, even small children, she hates all other animals. We have to put opaque film on the low windows when she is here, as the squirrels look in through the glass and drive her mad!
We’ve had dogs in the past, then a succession of cats, but have been pet free for nearly 20 years. I do make up for it by ‘chatting’ with every dog I meet out on our walks!

Got out to the garden for an hour this afternoon. Very bracing, but the sun was out. I dug up more nettles and brambles, and collected up some of the blown down twigs and branches after last nights wind. One 6 foot long branch had fallen vertically and impaled itself in the grass, looked like a badly planted tree! Still very blowy out. The bird feeders are swinging around wildly, but the siskins are still hanging on without difficulty , hopefully not starting to feel queasy!

Good evening all. Just reading back.

Re the paint colours @Ergates - the real ones are ‘mole’s breath’ and ‘dead salmon’!

I’m shattered tonight but did half an hour in garden (just chopping up the pruning pile) before a shower and change into the ‘lounge wear’. Will have a lazy tea tonight - thinking New York Bagels (pastrami, gherkins and cream cheese)?

I hope everyone is ok this evening.

@Ergates, your son's dog sounds a right little character. She doesn't want any other critter muscling in on her yoomans.
@AuntyRach, your tea sounds delicious. I am a big fan of gherkins.
I am signing out for tonight as I have a book just waiting to be read. See you all tomorrow. Enjoy your evenings.

Managed to do a couple of hours in the garden after lunch, well wrapped up as we had a cold very gusty wind still. Mulched the raspberries and the camellia with ericaceous compost then helped OH to mulch our raised veg beds with soil improver -whatever that was! Must check the info on the compost bags. We also used some of our home-made compost. The raised beds seem to sink an awful lot over the year, not quite sure where it all goes. Beat a hasty retreat when it started to rain again.

That sounds yummy, @AuntyRach! We had home made burgers ( low fat British mince with fines herbes) in panini with the usual trimmings, one of OH’s favourite meals. I gave up alcohol for Lent, and discovered Erdinger alcohol free beer, enjoyed it so much that my celebratory bottle of wine at Easter wasn’t as much fun as I was expecting. Had a glass with my burger. Won’t be to everyone’s taste, as I don’t actually like beer, so presumably anyone who enjoys the real stuff would be spitting it out in disgust!
Can’t believe it’s nearly 7.30pm and it’s still light, in fact the sun is out!

                    Good morning all :coffee1:
                    Hello @PatE

Not only is it dry out there folks … it’s sunny! We have wall to wall blue sky here in Norfolk! Ok, it’s a trifle chilly at 4C , but sunshine is good … and the wind has dropped. Its been so very windy … I’m really glad I managed to find time the other day to support the broad beans with canes and string or they’d have been flattened. Hope no one’s had too much damage :fingers crossed:

                        Good morning all.

Colder this morning, 6C, but no rain is forecast for the next week. Should be good for gardening, but the garden is very wet again after yesterday's heavy showers. At least I got the ironing done.

Our nice gardening man has mown and tidied up our garden in Norfolk and sent photos, looks good. I still have a lot to do at my home in France, haven't started the veg garden yet, it's been so wet.

Good morning. A sunny but chilly start to the day here too. Shopping in town once I've finished my coffee (help yourselves).
We brew our own beer, also wine from our grapevine so there's plenty on the go. When OH couldn't drink alcohol due to illness we had alcohol free which I thought was ok. Guinness was particularly good and it was on offer for months, thank you Morrison's.
Goodness, a bit early in the day...!
                          Have a lovely Wednesday everyone.

Hello all later arrivals. I intend to make the most of this dry start as Carol has predicted more of the wet stuff this afternoon. I should be able to get some plants into their permanent positions.
It must have cheered you getting that information from your gardener @Busy-Lizzie. I does mean you won't have to face a hay meadow when you get back.
@pattie, I remember my sis being told by her midwife to drink Guinness everyday when she was feeding my niece and nephews.

Huh, it’s raining here! A day at home for us. I’ll be helping OH attach some skirting boards to the bedroom wall, but hopefully pop out to at least transfer yesterday’s weeds to the green bin. For now, will savour my breakfast coffee before putting some laundry on. Those of you with sun, enjoy!
