      Good morning all :coffee1:
Glad you’ve had a wonderful time @Punkdoc … its a shame the traveling and weather was so bad tho … the hill farmers must be having a tough time … what did you have to eat?
It’s good to see you popping in @PatE … hope it’s not too chilly there.
Sorry to hear about your storm damage @Ante1 … it’s a difficult spring. Thankfully I managed to tie up and support my overwintered broad beans before the string winds this week. They and last year’s chard are the only plants out in my garden so far. I shall sow some more chard and some Cos lettuce direct in the ground when the weather picks up a bit. I sowed tomatoes, squashes and courgettes on Sunday and they’re germinating nicely on my dining room windowsill. upload_2024-4-11_7-19-53.png

          Good morning all.
We are promised a nice few days of weather. Shame that we will be visiting son in the north east so I’ll only get HIS gardening done!!
That will be when OH takes the granddaughter out for a round of golf.
@Punkdoc glad you enjoyed your meal.
          Enjoy your day all

I tested the new sofa. Lovely. Went to sleep on it in the afternoon.
Today the men are coming to begin "sorting out" the log burner. I shall be glad when they have all finished trasping in and out with wet boots and I have my sitting room back.
I have to watch the dog like a hawk as the men leave the door and gate open which means Rob can get out to chase and potentially kill some of my neighbours free range chickens. They are so tame they come to our front doors looking for food. Just too much temptation for him.

                Morning all.

I was up early making chicken and mushroom tarts and a crunchy salad for the Gardeners' Club meeting today. It's their 20th anniversary so someone will give a talk on its history then we'll have a B & S lunch.

I'm glad you enjoyed your meal @Punkdoc. I would like a look at the menu, too.

                  Good morning all.
I'm just waiting to see to some washing whilst drinking my coffee. The sun has now come through and it's rather breezy. The temperature is showing 11C which is quite something as it was stuck on 4c all day yesterday.
I'm pleased your sofa is comfy, @Goldenlily26 and you managed a nap. That's one thing I can never do... but anytime after 8pm and I can sleep like a baby!
                  Have a super day.

                    Morning all.
Oil tank man arrived at 5.30 last night - his 50th survey of the day! (apparently it's that time of year when the council get his company to check tank installations for LA housing)
Good news is we can put a new oil tank where the existing tanks are. Thought we might not be allowed to as it's up against a garage wall and very close to the boundary hedge. However, it's also hidden from view (oil thieves are a big problem in rural areas) and is very well protected from UV and the weather. He was happy that a single bunded tank would be a safe and appropriate installation. Weight off my mind as the existing 30 year old steel tanks are now well past their BBF dates & I've been dreading them springing a leak for the last 5 years.

@Punkdoc - good to hear you enjoyed your meal. We love Cartmel - very historic and pretty. There used to be an excellent 2nd hand bookshop in the village, but I expect they've gone now. We're big fans of Simon Rogan Josh(:heehee:) and have been promising ourselves a trip to his restaurant for yonks.

Expecting 3 DA roses to be delivered today:)

Morning all, another day, another dollar and no gardening. But my tomato seedlings are popping up on the back bedroom windowsill - I have the same quarter-trays with lids as @Dovefromabove . Must open the vents a bit when I next go in there.

I am another one with an electric windowsill propagator. My tomatoes need to be pricked out today as they have galloped away.
@Goldenlily26, I did smile when I read you had gone to sleep on your newly covered sofa. I'd say that was a fair consumer test!
Enjoy your day @Busy-Lizzie. It will be nice to hear the history of the Garden Club - 20 years is quite an anniversary.

Pleased you asked about the Honesty plants, @Badly_Maintained. We pass lots of them on the roadside banks, but nowhere to stop to take a picture. I’ve been wondering what they were!

Woke to sunshine and headed out, but then a load of sea mist has bubbled up over the cliff and obscured the view! Hopefully it will start to burn off, and we might tackle a walk, mud permitting.
No excuses today, I must get out into the garden later. Always masses to do, but mainly cutting down and digging up. I do envy those of you starting off seedlings and the like, what I call proper gardening! Our garden is more like a very small park, no flower beds to speak of, with some large grassed areas, only one of which is flat! Masses of flowering shrubs though. I do have at least five hydrangeas in pots to plant out somewhere. However, so much of the garden is in the shade of trees and the slope, it’s hard to find somewhere to put them where they won’t end up all leggy.
                              Hope everyone enjoys their day.
