Just dropping in to say hello.

    HELLO!!

Having had a couple of sunny days, I've been more concerned in getting the garden a little straighter. Pushed by my wife, and encouraged by my ageing parents, I had to do something.

@Punkdoc any photos of your Somme-like lawn? It might make many of us appreciate what WE have!!

I agree and I will always give things a go @shiney but I do know my limitations. The only recent achievement is climbing to the top of Roseberry Topping in Yorkshire. I was quite proud of myself especially as I don’t like heights!! :)

        Good Monday morning everyone!

As @Busy-Lizzie has said - we have a serious drop in temperature this week. Crazy weather - one minute it's sandals and this week back to shoes and socks!! A drop of 10°C.

Au mois d'avril, n'enlève pas un fil !! Quite so.

I hope your tomato seeds germinate soon @floralies I have carefully nurtured a sowing of toms etc. in my conservatory, spray watering gently to keep the soil moist etc. And lo and behold, 2 tomato plants are thriving nicely in a pot in front of the kitchen door!! Can't win. Really!!

I hope your daughter has a safe birth @Anna42 Keep us posted - as I'm sure you will!!

My wisteria hasn't flowered yet @Obelix-Vendée In fact it is only just coming into bud.

Went to local rugby match on Friday evening! Our side won so it is looking promising for them to be champions this season. (It's been quite a while ..... quite). Good food. Good company this weekend.

I am looking after my nursing neighbours' dog this week whilst they have a well-deserved break in Marrekesh. He's such a lovely dog and gets on well with my Border - so no bother. But being a male, he does tend to wee on every bush he can!!

Today's expression: Quand le Saint Paterne vient la saison, la chaleur vient pour de bon.

Doesn't look as if there is going to be much heat this week!!

Happy gardening everyone and be careful of back strain!!

Woke to howling wind and damp. A rain shower has just passed through, and it looks dismal out. Thankfully, both green bins are full, after yesterday’s efforts in the garden, so we can ‘relax’. I have a start of a shopping list, some paint needed, and I have a parcel to pick up from the M and S food hall at the motorway services. While we are in the area, we’ll top up the car with petrol, get some houseplant compost and drop into Ikea for a longer charging cable for my new iPad.
Last night, I potted up all the cuttings I rooted in water. All looking neat and tidy, I hope they survive the shock of feeling the dirt round their feet rather than standing in water!
          Keep warm and dry, everyone.

Morning all, sounds like most had a successful day gardening yesterday thanks to the weather, I'm so pleased I managed to catch up with all the heavy, awkward, and unpleasant chores, now I can relax and flit around the garden doing more dainty chores.

Just had a thunderstorm pass through here, Rusty the dog and I thought someone was throwing bucketful's of gravel at our front door. I felt sorry for the Anglian Water co man, he was over the road bending over a 'hole' in the pavement when the hailstone storm was at it's worse, he didn't even down tools and retreat to his van while the worse blew over. Anglian Water has just changed my water meter, apparently this new one allows me to see online in real time how much water we're using. If there appears to be a continuous flow of water, the meter will alert us to a possible leak.

So today is going to be my domestic goddess day, just about to start making a coffee and walnut cake for hubby, it's his favourite. Then I hope to spend a few hours in the sewing room, got so many plans to execute in there, not least new cushions and a bit of springtime clobber.

Have a great day everyone, no matter what the weather.

Morning all, what a change in the temperature, the plants in the GH don't know if it's winter or summer, and i don't either!!
@Tui34 I have posted on the Tomato thread, how is your house hunting going?
Have a good day everyone whatever you are up to.

                  Morning folks.

                  :gmorning:

Still very breezy here, although not currently raining. It’s snowing cherry tree blossom!

Will need to pop to Dad today as his WhatsApp not working. Not much else planned today, will venture into the garden once risk of being blown away passes.

Have a good day all - catch up with everyone’s news later.

                    Hi all

I think the end of the world might be here, we have had sun, rain, hail and now it is snowing. I went to the g/h got absolutely soaked and ended up staying there for 1/2 an hour until it eased off.

Morning all. Sorted out the veg plot on Friday and got broad beans planted out. My reward for all that effort was picking up the first tick of the year . Serves me right for getting my hands in the soil. Last year was a low tick year, only a handful, but the previous two years I got over 80 bites each year. I suspect the mild winter means this will be a bad year too. Just need to check my supplies of tick repellent and get my gardening rags treated.

Debatable whether this is music, so I posted it here. A local band that make money for charity, The Everley Pregnant Brothers, featuring Pete McKee a well known Sheffield artist.

                          Good heavens @Punkdoc, snow!

We are going to the Lake District in late June, but I don't think we'll be doing climbing sort of walks. We'll amble gently about and look at scenery and eat in restaurants. May even meet @Ladybird4 if she still wants too.

Very windy here, with very frequent downpours, so no gardening today. I did make it to my coffee morning group, but had to sit in the car a few minutes when I got there due to a sudden cloudburst. I’d have got drenched as a brolly would have been useless, so sat it out. Luckily it didn’t last long.
Back home now, with no plans to go anywhere else today. I could go and collect a prescription, but it can wait until the morning. Instead, I think I’ll tackle the food cupboard after lunch as it could do with a good sort out.
