Good to hear you are home safe and sound @redstar. I love getting back home after a holiday to have all my old familiar things around me.

@Topbird you were quite restrained in the nursery! Enjoy your dinner - it sounds delicious.

              Thank you @AnniD and @Ladybird4
Crowbar is out - I would like to retain the brick intact.
              An angle grinder is possible.

I've got to 0500 so far in trying the numbers. Just another 9,499 options to go. :rolleyespink:

@RowlandsCastle, I suppose it depends on the actual design of the Key Safe. If I wanted to remove mine I could smash the front of it with a lump hammer which would then give me access to the screws holding the back of the Key Safe to the brick wall.

@RowlandsCastle - I'm assuming you've already tried the usual 'easy' combos that some people still insist on using because they can remember them? You know - 4 straight down / up the middle etc , 2512 (Christmas Day) etc

If you're seriously considering entering 9999 numbers I'd do all the 19--'s and 20--'s first in case somebody has used a year of birth. Then anything which could be a birthday - eg 1804 if your birthday was yesterday.

Just make sure you keep a note of what you've tried!!

@RowlandsCastle - if the previous owner used it for carers access etc the most common codes are:

                    1234
                    house number repeated
                    Birth year

I see that on medical records all the time so worth a try.

The previous owner never used it. She was here for 17 years. I will end up removing it, probably.

                        A little known fact:
Before crowbars were invented, crows drank alone!

Smack with hammer to remove or cut a thin strip from a tin can (unless you have some thin sprung steel?) and use it to feel the tumblers until you get the combination

We’ve feasted on very good fishnchips and mushy peas followed by raspberry trifle and ice cream and now we’re tucked up under the eaves of a cosy cottage … night night all … sleep tight … :snooze:
