I agree @Ladybird4 but I do want good heavy rain every night from 1am to 4am and a cool breeze to stop it getting stuffy and very occasionally a dramatic thunderstorm. Not too much to ask is it?

        Good morning all.
Another glorious sunny start to the day but due to cloud over soon.
Although it was a gentle breeze I found it quite chilly while gardening yesterday.
I did purchase an Acer called Emerald Lace and 3 Digitalis. I will find the Purchases thread to post the pictures.
Will plant my purchases, do more weeding and carry on thinning out the Forget Me Nots.
        Enjoy the plant fair @Busy-Lizzie.
        Enjoy your day everyone

It is always risky going back to a previous garden.
When I went back to visit an old neighbour, she took me down her garden to look over the fence into what had been my garden. Which the buyers told me and the estate agent had sold the house to them. My entire garden was no more. Bare earth with a line of lollipop standard roses and a huge concrete plunge pool creation for the new owners koi carp.
My neighbour, a keen gardener who I got on very well with, was heart broken for me. I was content in the knowledge that the hours of work I put into that garden had brought me a lot of joy, contentment and happiness. I could only hope it did the same for the new owners.
          Each to their own.

That was most kind of your neighbour @Ante1 - even if it did mean a bit more extra work for you to do!

@Debs64, I couldn't agree more with you. We will need some water for our gardens.
@Busy-Lizzie have a super time at the plant fair.
@Brenda, my elderly ex cat sitter, Jack, who lives across the road from me, has an Emerald Lace acer (he's a fan too!) and its a beauty though it can be affected by strong winds, which are more prevalent on his side of the road than on mine.
@Goldenlily26, you definitely had the right attitude about your previous garden. We pour our love and energy into our gardens and they bring us solace and joy but moving on means we have to let go.

                  Another glorious day.
                  No gardening today.
I am going to my croquet club for a game. Today we are hosting some local counsellors who have generously donated to our money raising fund.
Our farmer-landlord President died and his family are selling off his land. Our club lease ends in 3 years time and we are trying to raise £65,000.00 to buy the plot of land the club stands on. A big ask for a small club.

                  Myths about croquet.
                  Only posh people play. Wrong!
You need to live in a big house with a big garden and lawn. Wrong.
It is a nasty vicious game. Wrong.
(There are no rhododendron bushes to hit balls into at our club!)

Morning all. Waiting for a roofer to come and cost up sorting out an overflowing gutter and a broken roof tile. We have intermittent showers at the moment - no doubt one will start when he arrives and I need to go outside...

Nice part of the world you're in Dove - I always enjoy the occasional visit to Stamford, Barnsdale and the surrounds. Hope you have a delicious Sunday lunch.

LB - don't you be wishing us a dry summer! Damp (not wet) and cool like last year suited me and my garden very well. Actually Debs weather regime is the perfect compromise - warm & dry (not hot) during the day and wet and cool overnight. No strong winds at any time - we do seem to have had a lot of windy weather for prolonged periods over the last couple of years.

                        Another cold but sunny day.
I managed to avoid injury yesterday, mainly because I spent the afternoon watching the womens rugby. I have surprised myself by how much I enjoy the womens game.
Today I am just wandering round with a notebook, making plans.

@Punkdoc, England made it look easy against Ireland didn't they? Next week against France could be a different story. I still think they are on the way for another Grand Slam.

                            Afternoon folks.

Much more cloudy and cool today. Just doing my usual Sunday pottering about - ironing uniforms and clearing the decks before another week starts.

Enjoy Sunday everyone - whether you are out and about, lunching, pottering or otherwise.

                              @Ladybird4 - :pathd:

@Punkdoc - I can hear my late FIL spinning at the very thought of women playing rugby. He would have been genuinely horrified to see it being televised!
He became convinced we were taking over the world when the number of female BBC news presenters equalled (maybe exceeded?) the number of males:biggrin:

I'm like you. I don't really watch much rugby but I occasionally watch a bit of footie and find the womens' game more entertaining. Not (quite) as much dirty play and histrionics - especially in the World Cup and Euros where some of the male Latin players could garner nominations for the Oscars.

I love the "brand" of rugby England women are playing, if only the men could do the same.
