Lovely steady rain all day. We really need it here especially the farmers in the country areas with goats and other animals who need the hillside vegetation to keep the herds happy and producing.

It's not cold but I have the fire going which is lovely/ Takes the edge off the humidity.

Thank you for all your book suggestions - it is hard here to find english books unless ordered online. There used to be many Brits down here with a good supply, so much swapping was done and there used to be a book fair in Pezenas. But since Brexit ........ I like Jojo Moyes style of writing but I think I have exhausted hers and Ann Patchett is good too. Maybe it's time to invest in a Kindle. I see that a film has been made of the Tattooist of Auschwitz which I read some time ago - borrowed from the local library, who have quite a good selection of english books. I don't have Netflix or the like, so I haven't access to this new stuff.

Those sorts of cruises sound nice @Topbird No dressing up. No "high falluting" meals. No mixing with the hoi polloi. I saw a lovely programme about a cruise from Oban in Scotland - on a restored trawler - alors là ...!!

 

Good afternoon all. Ssshhhh no rain today so have managed to achieve quite a bit.
@AuntyRach, I got a washing load done and the kind weather has allowed it all to dry very nicely. Good to read you found a lot of tempting things at the Plant Fair? I must admit that I love the sounds of those unusual mints.
@Ergates, it does sound as though your OH has done something fairly severe to his ankle but I'm glad to read it is improving.
Thank you @Topbird and @redstar for your very interesting travel stories. I really enjoyed reading through those posts. Love the ones mentioning the humming birds especially the post about humming birds in Alaska. Somehow I always think of those as living in warmer climes.

 

Evening everyone. I think all the flavoured herbs would be good in drinks and puddings. Blackcurrant mint on ice cream - yes please! I have a little collection of herbs on my back porch area so I can have some aromatherapy whilst I sit with a drink.

Hello @PatE … we have bright sunshine here in Norfolk and it’s 6C which is an improvement… and it looks as if it’s heading to 16C today which is almost double what the best temperature was a few days ago. Can we really start thinking about putting some plants out? Only thinking mind you … not actually doing it …

Hello all. @Ante1 according to the forecast this morning, it actually might get warmer here this week. Just to stop us getting too excited though, and like @PatE says, the rain word was mentioned again. Well we can just live in hope as the garden is now bursting with life - including the wild life. My choisya outside the back door was smothered in bees yesterday.

 

Today is the start of National Gardening Week and this year's theme is 'Knowledge is Flower'. I really hope that the big tap controller in the skies is kind to us and we can get into our gardens to catch up on all of our jobs. I've still got tidying up to do!

Morning all.

It will be a tidying up sort of day tiday as we go back to Norfolk tomorrow.

While we are away CB the handyman will be coming to replace guttering that was damaged in the hailstorm 2 years ago. He will also lay a path from the garage barn to the sitting room patio. I have bought the gutters and pavers.

 

I totally agree @Dovefromabove , he can create an atmosphere better than most.

 

Morning everybody, I woke up early today at 6.am -well, it's early for me. Think it was the unfamiliar sight of bright sunshine peeking through the curtains. Unfortunately it's now gone cloudy but it is warmer than yesterday so grateful for small mercies. Nothing much to do today and intend to take it easy after yesterday's exertions.
