Morning all. Started sunny here, but it’s clouded over now. Forecast for rain this afternoon, and tomorrow morning, so we have headed out with plans for a walk. OH rested his ankle yesterday, took some paracetamol and tried an ice pack after quite a bit of nagging, and he is virtually back to what passes for normal today. I think he was panicking as we have a weeks cruise booked for a fortnight’s time, our first proper holiday since before lockdown, when we had to cancel a trip to Vancouver and the west coast of the USA, when he had trouble with his knee and had to cancel the day before.
Interesting to hear about the exciting cruises to Alaska and the Antarctic. We are going on one of the ‘big box’ cruise ships to Norway, and looking forward to the break. We are not typical cruisers, in that we don’t like to socialise, don’t visit the casino and don’t indulge in the supposedly posh dining rooms and restaurants. We treat the ship like a rather nice hotel, but with a different view every morning! We routinely eat in the buffet, which is usually at the top of the ship with views out to sea, caters for OH’s picky tastes, and allows me to sample something different. Also means that we can eat at our own pace, no dressing up involved, or being offered a table to share with strangers ( no way) or being seated at a table for two which is 6 inches away from the adjoining one! Otherwise, our routine is fairly similar to a leisure day at home, a relaxed breakfast followed by a wander around on shore, but I don’t have to do any cooking, food shopping, or even make the bed!
As usual, it’s green bin day on Wednesday, and only one of the two bins is a third full! How does this happen? I start off each fortnight with such good intentions, and once again, I shall be out having a last minute panic!
Hope the weather improves enough for everyone to get on with their gardening plans.

Good morning all! Breezy with sunshine and fluffy clouds here, no rain in the forecast today or tomorrow and a only small likelihood for the rest of the week (not that I care midweek because I'll be inside working).
I might go out and trim the small privet hedge at the front this afternoon. I've been watching it for a few weeks and there aren't any signs of birds nesting in it. They go for the trees and larger shrubs that are safer from predators and further from the road/pavement.
Happy birthday to Moira @Punkdoc, York is lovely - I should go more often. It's only an hour or so drive to the park-and-ride at the outlet shopping place on the south side.

Tomatoes, courgettes and squashes all potted on. 4 beefsteak, 8 Roma,, 6 All Green Bush and 10 Uchiki Kuri … I hope WonkyWomble can find a home for some of the squashes! One of her customers sent me some knitting wool. Perhaps she’d like squash plants in return?

            Good morning all (just about).

I’ve been up and about for a long time, but just sitting down with a coffee now.

The weather is much drier today, thank goodness, and a tiny bit warmer, but we still have the annoying breeze.

I aim to pop out into the garden this afternoon to do a spot of tidying up. Everything is sprouting well with all the rain we’ve had. There was a chap on the tv earlier from the water company who said that we might yet have a hose pipe ban in the summer, due to climate change - even though the reservoirs are now at nearly full capacity and the water table is healthy too. He’s confident we won’t, but it can’t be ruled out. Hedging his bets, I’d say.

Monday morning. Time now 10Am here, been up since 7Am, coffee, garden walk, mentally listing which areas need my attention.
Yesterday, locked down the Ferry from St. Johns, New Brunswick, to Digby Nova S. cannot believe how much money it is, but it is taking us and our car, it would take 12 hours of our time to loop up and around to stay on land to get to where in 2 hours it would take us, so guess that's the trade off. And hope going over on the Bay of Fundy maybe can see Whales. So now, while up there, I am looking at doing Cabots Trail, have to research it more, its 184 mile loop, suppose to be a spectacular visual experience, says takes 4 days to properly do. Continued research in that area goes on.
              Later.

Yes, I heard that too, @Blue arbour. I can't quite fathom the logic behind it, but there it is.
Good afternoon all. I hope the weather has been good for we garden folk- it's been dry here but there's a big possibility rain is on the way- quite when isn't clear.
I've never been on a cruise, it doesn't appeal to either of us. My friend is going to the Caribbean in June for her 80th birthday, paid for by her son. Now the weather there would definitely appeal!
                Enjoy York, @Punkdoc, it's a fabulous city.

Good afternoon all. I managed to get a few jobs done outside until the sun disappeared, the wind rose and the temperature dropped considerably. I have had several texts reminding me about my blood tests tomorrow and also my Covid booster. It would be good if I could actually get to make a Doctor's appointment as easily.
Tonight I have to be question master at the quiz which does make for an easier night. Don't need to get my brain in gear. We take turns in doing this quiz master job - not as much fun as taking part and it is normally when this happens that all my favourite subjects turn up in the questions.

3pm, and sitting down after a late lunch. OH was sufficiently recovered to manage an hour and a half’s walk this morning, with no difficulty, very pleased with himself and very relieved.
I had a John Lewis order being delivered to our local Waitrose, expected after 3pm, but got a notification before 12, so we were able to pick it up as we passed on the way home. While I was there, I also picked up a bottle of The Glenlivet Caribbean Reserve at 25% off the regular price. I’ve never liked whisky, but bought a bottle of this at Christmas as it was reduced in price, and I just wanted something to offer any guests. However, I tried it with ice, and am now hooked! Still some left in the opened bottle, but I’m now set up probably for the rest of the year!

We headed out into the garden when we got home, and two hours later, the green bins are both near enough full! OH cut one of the ‘lawns’ and I shredded the prunings I cut last week. Added the lawn edgings to the bins, plus what I cleared away from the ground round the trunk of the magnolia grandiflora - had some very enthusiastic help from a robin! All tidied away, rain forecast to start within the hour but hasn’t started yet. I think I’ve earned a sit down!

@pattie , regular cruises have never appealed to me either, those large huge things. no way was that me. Then I read about the small "exploratory" ones. There are only 55 or less guests on board. Don't need fancy clothes, no elevation of "sitting with the captain", no sitting at certain tables, just total relaxing and seeing /touring chosen subject / area.

@redstar, my Bestie and her daughter are obsessed with cruises. Listening to them planning their packing is a total nightmare for me as I am a minimal traveller. They have to have shoes that match their outfits and then handbags to go with the shoes, at least two outifits for each day including the posh frocks. I remember once saying I compared the appearance of those huge cruise liners with the cattle pens used in the markets, as that is what all the balconies remind me of. Still the world would be a boring place if we all liked the same thing. I wouldn't go on a cruise like that but a small ship with under a hundred passengers would be the sort I would like. Bestie is petrified of flying so the cruising suits her.

@Ergates, good, positive news about your OH. My Dad loved his whisky - all the malts but he didn't mind the blends either. There were always interesting bottle labels in his drinks cabinet. Jack, my ex cat sitter, is another whisky lover and I have to have a C*******s drink with him. He bought me a pack of three miniatures of different Taliskers. I've not opened any of them yet.

Funny how different we all are, I enjoy the anonymity of the larger cruise ships, ditto with chain hotels, and think I would feel rather uncomfortable in a smaller group setting, or a cosy b and b or boutique hotel! You’ve probably guessed I am also a fan of the self service checkout!
A picture especially for you, @Ladybird4, here’s one I petted earlier!
