Yep, way I see it also. I pride myself at packing very little, very little. Arrange for places to stay that have a washer and dryer. And if someone actually notices that I wore the same shorts the other day, I will cheer them for being observant, LOL. Lets face it when your home you wear the same shorts for 3-6 days depending on the tasks your doing. Oh, and forget the bras, I do what I can to not wear one. And high heels, mine are all tossed. Yep, small ships for me only. Flying is OK, if I had to, but rather drive. Back outside, its 83 degrees here, hate it. too hot.

The weather has been great today - just as well, with three British Gas engineers running back and forth, all doors open, plus loft hatch.
What a mess, but the old boiler and tanks (3 of them) have gone. What a lovely piece of wallpaper found behind the old boiler.

I can't imagine having that all round my kitchen!!

Workmen will be back tomorrow - and beyond. Parquet flooring will need to be re-sanded and polished after, especially after a metal pipe was dropped out of the loft, resulting in a large gouge. But at least I'm not in Ukraine or Gaza, having my home demolished deliberately.

We were wearing our winter padded coats today, @redstar! Slightly warmer when the sun came out, but there was a very chilly wind. I don’t like wearing shorts, by the time I’ve got them long enough to hide my legs, they’ve turned into trousers!
@Tui34, I don’t have a kindle, but I can download library books free of charge, onto my iPad. Do French public libraries have a similar facility, with English language books available? Or do you have a helpful friend in the UK with a library ticket they don’t use? The system Devon libraries is currently using is BorrowBox, but there is no charge through the library. I’ve been able to download new titles from the catalogue when I’ve been abroad, so maybe that could work for you? Hopefully not illegal, if so, please ignore me.

@RowlandsCastle, that wallpaper looks like the one in our downstairs loo when we moved here! It wasn’t on the priority list, but every time I used the loo, I would pull a few more strips off the wall.
It also looks not dissimilar to the paper we chose for one wall in our bedroom, back in 1972! The height of fashion!

There is "walking shorts" which are a nice conservative length, they hit at the top of your knee. I pack those for trips, or wear in the summer to restaurants. My normal about the house and local errand are about 3 inches above the knee in a light weight fabric. Hate being to warm. Even in the winter around the house I will wear shorts.

For a bedroom or lounge, I can understand - we had something similar in the lounge of the first house we bought in the 1980s. It didn't stay long. I couldn't face that every day.

                  But in the kitchen??!!!

I'd lose my appetite - possibly even the will to live!!

@RowlandsCastle lots of interesting styles back then. Not my cup of tea either. My house has no wallpaper at all, we like hanging pictures, can change those about.

I don't like wearing shorts. I wear jeans and jumpers in winter and dresses in summer. I find dresses freer and cooler.

We are going on a river cruise up the Danube in the autumn. Sea cruises in huge ships don't appeal at all.

                      Gorgeous wallpaper :roflol: @RowlandsCastle!

This afternoon I put up the electric fence at the unfenced end of the garden to keep the deer out :fingers crossed: while we are in Norfolk.

@Busy-Lizzie, seen those river cruses advertised, they do look interesting. Dresses, not against, just have not gone there.

                            Thank you @Ergates and @Busy-Lizzie
Even the workmen said I should replicate it. It would be too dark, too flowery, and just too much pattern for me. I need a kitchen to be light, airy, and plain, as well as wipeable.

Not something to hit you in the eyes. Something calm.

@RowlandsCastle, once I put my Raybans on - looking at the wallpaper - I had a thought. Maybe, just maybe, the person who stuck that to the kitchen wall was a very messy cook!
