    Good morning all!!

The rain has ceased but the skies are a steely grey. Very windy which should blow away the clouds.

Glad you had a good stay in York for Moira's birthday @Punkdoc and that the weather was clement. We don't see many buskers here, just homeless people stationed at the supermarket trolley depot. @RowlandsCastle I hope you get those problems sorted - properly!! Glad you arrived safely for your family fortnight @Busy-Lizzie

Here in France, next week is going to be a bit of a one-off. We have Armistice on Wednesday the 8th and then Ascension on the 9th which is normally a long weekend and falls around the end of May. It's because we had Easter earlier this year. So a short working week with only Monday and Tuesday as being "open".

Lunch today with my friend who is over from New York and then a "reunion" dinner tomorrow evening as she goes back Sunday. A short stay, but so lovely to see old friends (as in long time...:heehee::cat-kittyandsmiley:

    Have a pleasant day everyone.

      Morning all.
Glad you had a good break in York Punkdoc (belated congratulations to you both BTW). We lived there for 10 years, not far from the University and it is a beautiful place. Last visited a couple of years ago over a sunny August bank holiday weekend and I was quite shocked to find it full of drunken hen and stag parties. Seems York is now known for being a bit of a 'party' city. Bouncers on the doors of most bars in the middle of the afternoon and way too much wobbly flesh on display - yuck. During the week it reverts to being a lovely place to enjoy the medieval surroundings.

@steephil - enjoy Hvar. Dalmatia is beautiful. @Ante1 - makes sense to have the party at yours if you're in the middle. I'll bring the biska ;)

@RowlandsCastle - I've just read your post on 'Moans' detailing the damage done to your property. A bit of scratched paintwork is almost inevitable but what you've listed suggests a real lack of care and respect. I really don't like the 'compensation culture' but, in this instance, you are justified - go get 'em!

Need to send a couple of business invoices and then I'm off out to weed the 'big border'. Lots of little weedlings popping up now the weather's turned.

I bought the pushchair, just a cheap one. I can always sell it eventually.

            Good morning all ☕
I'm glad you enjoyed your trip to York @Punkdoc. Last time I was there i took a guided tour of the Minster. I'm not at all religious but it was very interesting from the historical viewpoint.
We sent in our postal votes last week so we don't need to go to the polling station today. Can't say I was particularly impressed by any of the candidates, going by the blurb in the leaflet, but I always use my vote anyway.

I loved the Minster. Like you, I am not in the slightest, but sitting quietly for a few minutes I found very moving.

I am a great fan of O. Coppard the S. Yorkshire Major, so I will continue to support him.

A cooler morning after yesterdays sunny weather. I’ve had an early lunch of lemon chicken risotto via the microwave so just a light meal, reading through your posts and enjoying a latte. Hoping for more sunshine. Cannot really believe it’s May already. Have a good day. Rosie

Morning all, we had a thunder and lightening storm in the early hours so overslept. Bit of a scramble to get ready before the cleaners arrived! Looks very gloomy out there.

We had a lovely day out yesterday in Oxfordshire with temps up to 17c - I'd worn a jumper over a frilly neck top and was boiling. Enjoyed lunch at our favourite pub, a scrumptious warm crispy duck baguette with salad - very filling. On the drive up, we passed a beautiful, ancient bluebell wood which is one of my favourite places. Fortunately there are absolutely no parking spaces nearby so it hasn't been spoiled. Got back at 4pm just in time to meet a delivery driver with a large parcel for OH - talk about good timing!

Good to see old friends @Tui34 - enjoy.

Glad you enjoyed York @Punkdoc, it's many years since we stayed there but would very much like to go back.

                  Go for it @RowlandsCastle !

Hope you get your rads sorted @Busy-Lizzie, not what you need right now.

Do you design your own cards @Ladybird4? they are very cheery.

                  Have a good day folks.

Morning all, local elections today and as a Londoner I worry if the divisive rhetoric will elect the awful Susan Hall...hopefully I won't be here for too much longer but it is embarrassing if someone as clueless will be the representive of a world city. It was bad enough with BoJo. On the positive side hope many more green get elected as councillors, we need a meaningful change.

Morning all. almost 9Am here. Thursday.
Have Yorkshire Tea in my Amazon cart.
Nothing major here. Just a list of this and that to get done. Funny how now in retirement you get to fill in the hours you were normally not at home with stuff.
                      Later.

                        Ha ha @redstar.

Personally, I have no idea how I found time to work 5 full days a week, keep house, maintain a garden, decorate rooms on a regular 4 year cycle and even manage a bit of socialising. Getting up a couple of hours earlier every day probably helped...

It turned out really nice, so managed a fair bit in the garden, it was lovely not to need a fleece.

Been and voted, so it must be nearly time for a little drink in the garden.

Now I know I'm officially an old lady! I was having a short 5 minute rest in the defunct bus stop
before I tackled a steeper bit of the path home when a younger woman walked out of the nearby polling station, came across to check if I knew the bus didn't stop there any more, asked me where I lived, then very kindly offered me a lift home. There's a first time for everything!
However I declined with a smile and said the exercise was good for me but it was very good of her to offer.

I had popped into the polling station but (a) had forgotten to take the polling card with me and (b) had also forgotten you now need ID. The clerks wouldn't accept photos of my passport/driving licence on my phone and I didn't have anything else. Really can't be bothered to go back again, we were only voting for a Police & Crime Commissioner and I haven't a clue who the present one is, let alone any of the others.
