He was also telling me that the Bulmers (now owned by Heineken) orchards in Wales have been grubbed out as people are no longer drinking cider. Don't tell my nieces that!

British Gas fitter returned this afternoon to assess the damage. I'd already provided some photos, but encouraged him to take his own, so he could see for himself.
He knew about the light fitting falling into the bath - he caused it!
He knew about the pipe falling out of the loft hatch, so couldn't deny it. He was genuinely surprised about the damage caused.
          He knew about the carpet.
I actually got an apology. That's a start. Now to have the repairs done.

Thank you @Fat Controller … now we can recognise our ‘old’? friend … can I interest you in a sausage roll or three? There’s a smidgeon of home made chilli jam in there …

              Evening all.

Those sausage rolls still warm @Dovefromabove?

Welcome @Allotment Boy - how was Japan?

What a nightmare @RowlandsCastle - I hope all damage is rectified swiftly and smoothly.

I hope everyone is doing ok. Early night for me as need to be in work by 7am.

Believe it or not, I have just had sausage roll, beans and chips... but cheap frozen rubbish, and nothing like as good as those! :)

In all seriousness, if you have a recipe/method could you share, I'd be grateful.

@Fat Controller :) I just use good sausages from our local farmer/butcher, remove the skins, smear them with homemade chilli jam (the chillies were homegrown ‘Blue Christmas’ ) and then wrap them in homemade Rough Puff pastry. Sadly that was the last of that batch of chilli jam as I didn’t get round to making any last year due to my sons accident so the next lot of jam will have to be ‘shop bought’ … I’m sure it’ll be fine tho’.

Thanks @Dovefromabove - I'll bet they are better than the frozen Greggs ones we've just had; and I think we've got a wee jar of chilli jam somewhere, so I will give that a try at some point.

Spent a quiet evening on the sofa with OH listening to some of our favourite music … that’s something we’ve not done since my son’s accident … little by little we’re getting bits of our life back. :)

Night night folks … sleep tight :snooze:

Thinking tomorrow might be an ‘interesting’ day ………….

A very good morning one and all. What a change from yesterday's sunny start - I've had to turn lights on as it is so dark. Going out for lunch today with my quiz friends - we do this every first Friday of the month trying to find a new venue each time. We have been doing this for almost three years now. Its always nice meeting up for a good gossip.

                            Good morning all :coffee1:
Overcast here too … but the temperature is still in double figures so I’m not complaining … and it looks as if there are other reasons to smile today …

Thank you for your kind words @Punkdoc … your kindness and knowledgeable support since my son’s accident has really played a huge part in my ability to cope with all that’s happened … I hope that one day we’ll be able to meet and I’ll be able to give you a huge hug and buy you the beer I’ve promised you … and it’s not all been on me … my wonderful OH has supported me in caring for my son who is no relation and almost the same age as him and who, when he came here from the hospital, couldn’t even sit up without help and who needed total care 24/7 …
and the support from WonkyWomble and her Lovely Hub especially in the early days, was invaluable … driving up to do waking nights so that I could get some sleep the nights before I had to drive son to Broomfield for weekly outpatients visits at the burns unit. And of course my son’s courage and determination has been amazing … this time last year I could never have imagined we’d have come this far.
I’m sorry to go on about it yet again, but people’s kindness should be celebrated … if only I had big fat shiny medals to give … but I don’t, so all I can do is say thank you publicly so that everyone else can celebrate all the kindness in the world too.

Good morning all. Grey and damp here hope it’s the last fling from the Rain Gods before a dry and sunny bank holiday weekend as I have only outdoor activities planned and longing to spend that extra day off in the garden planting up all my pots and hanging baskets

                                Good morning folks!

The day has dawned sunny and bright after a few days of steady rain. Windy yesterday so the clouds have been swept away (more or less).

Yes @Dovefromabove It has been some 18 months for you and proves a mother's love and instinct is strong. So glad Rob is on his way up. The sausages here in France are nice and tasty but I would give anything to have a few good Brit sausages. Same, yet different!!

                                I reckon @Punkdoc !!

Hello @Allotment Boy Glad you found your way here. How was Japan?

I can start hardening off my tomato plants that are singing out to be planted. My peppers are too young yet. I can probably sow some courgette and cucumbers directly into the soil in a few days' time when the soil warms up. Had a lovely lunch with my American friend yesterday. Too cold to eat outside. Unfortunately, she picked the wrong week to spend here but the weekend promises to be better. She leaves on Sunday.

To all my friends whose name is Jack, Jacqueline....
Si Saint Jacques l'apôtre pleure, bien peu de glands il demeure.

                                May your day be pleasant.
