I forgot to tell everyone yesterday, that one of my friends was showing us pictures of the 100th birthday card her Mum had received from King Charles. It showed a picture of him and Queen Camilla on the front with his signature inside. Her Mum is still as chirpy as ever and shares accommodation with her 95 year old sister. We were all pulling our friend's leg about coming from a good gene pool!

        Hi all

Well my plans for the day have gone pear shaped, I wrote a long list of jobs I was going to do in the garden, but it is raining. Looks like I will be in the g/h.

          Good morning all,

Very grey sky here today, but it’s supposed to remain dry - we’ll see. It certainly rained a lot from yesterday afternoon well into the night.

The rain put paid to any work in the garden yesterday so contented myself by watching Gardeners World, which I enjoyed. It was a shame that there was no Beechgrove though - snooker took precedence .

          Another Trekkie fan here .

Hello @Cheyngel. Nice to see you here on GC.

Morning @Blue arbour. Like you, I missed Beechgrove last night. Its always a joy to watch the gentle presentation of that programme. I enjoyed GW too but sometimes I feel it is a bit jaded. I do like Adam Frost, when he is on, and enjoy seeing other peoples' gardens.

Morning all. Not much sleep last night so feeling very weary and with a splitting headache this morning. I have to do some jobs today but I'll not be pushing myself beyond the minimum.

@Busy-Lizzie - if you already have the alstromeira you want, it's very easy to take a bit of root and pot it up to make a new plant. Won't do much this year but next year will be ok. Must take my own advice and take some bits off a favourite I have. Divisions have followed me around 3 gardens over 30 years and there are a couple of spaces where it would look ok.

@Ladybird4 - I'm the other way. I've been quite enjoying this season's GW but struggle with Beechgrove. As you say, gentle presentation and some good knowledge but it seems incredibly dated. Reminds me of watching Percy Thrower (which I didn't because he was too old fashioned). Would be good to see a couple of reruns of his programmes though. Seem to remember he was quite keen on pesticides and was always spraying stuff. Geoff Hamilton was a breath of fresh air and he got me into gardening.

And to you, @Ladybird4, May the Fourth be with you! Loved the original Star Trek, which we saw in a cinema in Minneapolis, a month before it was released in the UK, and before it hit the headlines, it was quite mould breaking at the time. Loved the early Star Trek too, but I have to say, The Expanse, both the books and the series, must be one of my all time favourites.

A lovely sunny morning here, quite a bit of cloud but it’s white and fluffy and doesn’t look threatening! Keep forgetting it’s a bank holiday weekend, probably a good idea to stay round the garden rather than venturing near the touristy hot spots! I do need to replenish the fridge and freezer though, so might have to brave Waitrose, even if I just get a top up shop.
The place will be full of people in shorts and flip flops - seems to be obligatory to wear holiday gear even if the temperatures would advise against it. The car park will be full of 4x4s with top boxes and bike racks on the back, and the local roads will be a bit dicey, as non locals hurtle round the bends in their Chelsea tractors, oblivious to the fact that there might be a real tractor coming the other way.

Good afternoon all - I didn't quite make it on here in the morning. It's cloudy here but dry with a fair breeze so the washing is out and I'll be doing some gardening later. Grass needs cutting and I spotted some lurking weeds, plus there are a few plants I want to move and some to plant. I've been to the post office and came back with two trays of petunias from B&M for my hanging baskets. They're in the cold frame for a couple of weeks now. I must remember to close the lid if we get cold nights. Nothing doing outdoors yesterday because we got a decent drop of rain - 7.5mm in the gauge -so the soil should be nicely damp today.

                        Good afternoon!

@AuntyRach yes luco is my almost 8 year old furball who thinks he's still a kitten, meaning I have to get him down from high shelves regularly!

Grey here and threatening rain, do I risk walking to the SM anyway?

He sounds like fun @Cheyngel. From your avatar pic he looks similar to my Charlie (aka Chief Inspector). I also have George, black and white, (aka Detective Inspector).

Just having a cuppa break midway through Phormium pruning. I have a circular welt/graze where one old flower cane accelerated towards my arm.

Thank you @Topbird. I've just been looking up about dividing alstroemerias. It's just that my plant is now the size I wanted it and I wanted another decent size plant.

@Busy-Lizzie - Hayloft are selling it but, from my recent experience and the ongoing saga for LB, I can't really recommend them. Based on what I received you'd probably get a piece of recently rooted division - the sort of thing you could produce yourself for free in a few weeks.

Sarah Raven seems to have it and she's much more reliable. Enjoyed watching her talking about dahlias on GW last night.

Great result in the local Mayoral Elections, + we have now had Labour 2 MPs in my constituency, which had been either Conservative, or Lib Dem. forever.
