Good morning all. I'm at school, but never have first class on Tuesday. Think I might take a hide in next two days, because I promised @Topbird beautiful weather, and rain is possible today and tomorrow morning. At least it's warm, more than I like it.

              Morning all.

I hope your journey is smooth and you have a good time @Topbird.

The sun is shining. Hope it will be a nice day as the washing is in the machine. Want it all done and dry before Son 2 and family come.

Shopping this morning. I won't have to cook a lot as we will be lunching out and they like salads. The main meal that I will cook will be tomorrow after they arrive.

Good morning all! I missed a day or two and so much has been going on that I haven't caught up. Cloudy today but still quite warm after a muggy-feeling day yesterday. I spent most of it out and about doing various shopping errands, including looking for 14" hanging basket liners for my parents. No luck, everywhere around here just seems to have 12" ones, so I've ordered some online - hope they're OK.

                  What a glorious view, @lizzie27.
Glad @Topbird didnt oversleep! A friend of ours had an early start to a holiday, and set the alarm. Woken by a phone call from the airport, from friends they were travelling with, wondering where they were! They had set their clock radio, without realising that the usual channel they listened to closed down during the night, and the gentle sound of static wasn’t enough to wake them. Amazingly, they were able to pull their clothes on, grab their bags and two kids, and made it to the airport just in time to get their flight! It’s haunted me ever since, we now set at least three different alarms, and I’m usually so stressed that I can’t sleep anyway!
Luckily, not a particularly early start for us next week. We are visiting Flam, Geiranger, Ålesund and Kristiansand, plus a stop off to visit Bruges. Only one new to us, looking forward to the scenery.
We have relatives in Sweden, and found it strange to only be able to buy wine in the government wine shop, very unattractively laid out, and with metal security bars on the windows and doors. We were told that they rarely saw any elderly drunks or vagrants, as they didn’t survive trying to sleep out after a heavy drinking session in the winter. And that the tendency for heavy drinking was in direct proportion to the lack of daylight during the winter.

                    Hi all

Rather damp and murky, but I have plugs to plant on. They arrived this morning, in the dreaded TEABAGS.

Just had a pot of chicken noodles for an early lunch. Earlier popped out to put some recycling in the recently supplied green bin. I keep a couple of bags from the online shopping, the paper ones, as a mini recycling area before transferring to the green bin. Hope all have a good day.

Egged on by @Busy-Lizzie, the sunshiney morning (and having taken a mild sedative!) I got the bed changed and did one wash load. The second washload is halfway through it's cycle. Of course because I have a line full of washing, the clouds have started gathering. I might just be lucky!
@Rosie loves nature, that is an early lunch but hey, why not, I like to be able to just graze when I feel like it.
@Ergates, I was amused by the tale of your friends and the early morning 'Where are you?' from the airport. I would have been in a state of collapse and well done to them for making it in time. What time do you leave for your cruise?
I was intrigued to hear about the alcohol laws in Sweden too. I knew nothing of that so thats my new bit of knowledge from you and @Topbird over this week or so.

I’m sure I remember back in the day when alcohol was only available from an “Off-Licence” … not many ordinary shops had a licence to sell it … but that was before the arrival of supermarkets of course

You both have very, very beautiful gardens @lizzie27 & @redstar Love the rolling green countryside behind your garden as well @lizzie27 .

I have one piece of good news folks - yesterday evening I saw a ladybird in one of my flowerpots! This has pleased me greatly. I'm hoping the ladybird sticks around to battle the greenfly which I'm expecting soon on my patio roses. Things may be looking up :)

Hung the washing out at 6am in broad daylight. Cloudy with very light winds, but no rain forecast today.

There is presently a competition to find the business in the UK with the "punniest" name. The link below lists the ten finalists from each UK region (just keep scrolling down). You can also vote for your favourite if you so wish:
