      Good afternoon everyone!!

Lovely photos @lizzie27 and @redstar of your views. Enjoy your holiday @Topbird Hopefully some photos along the way? Hello @PatE or should I say Bon Appetit as I suppose it is dinnertime for you.

Got bits and pieces done this morning. A trip to the tip with weeds (what else?). A trip to the laundrette with the duvet and there was a big machine free, so didn't have to wait. While that was whirring, I did a quick shop and got that done. Came home and took the dog for her run (on my bike). Back home for lunch - a nice piece of fish and some salicornia which I adore. These are salt water plants called sea asparagus. Delicious!!

A strong Tramontane wind has whipped up and my duvet is flapping gaily on the line!

So while I am on this run, I will go to the nursery this afternoon and pick up some green peppers and aubergines etc. to harden off. Tomorrow is Armistice, Thursday is Ascension Thursday and Friday will be closed for some places to have yet another long weekend. In a couple of weeks it will be Pentecost and Monday again is a bank holiday for many.

Enjoy your day in the garden those who are able to.

We’ve had a busy morning in the garden … normally the bean trench would’ve been dug and filled with semi-rotted compost etc ages ago but as you know we’re all behind as life stuff has been getting in the way over the last 16 months … but we’re catching up … OH has dug a good trench and started barrowing the contents of the bin into it. Whatever made us decide two years ago to move the compost area so far away from the veg patch?
He’s done enough for today as his knees are objecting but he’s done much more than I expected. With any luck we’ll be able to plant the runner beans out before we go to MIL’s on Saturday.

I’ve made a good start on the area where I grow apple mint and spearmint in large sunken pots … it hadn’t had any attention for a couple of years … the mints had escaped their allotted area and the alpine strawberries had invaded the mint area. :yikes:
Now that area has been dug over … the mints have been dug up and replaced with sections of young runners and they’ve had a handful of BF&B and a good watering.
Just a bit surprised that the normally rampant chives haven’t made an appearance yet …

I’ve also given the pulmonarias and ferns a haircut (had to be careful with the ferns cos the new croziers had begun to unfurl quite quickly now the weather is warming up.

I’ve also given the permanently planted containers a thorough watering … it’s amazing how quickly they’ve dried out now that the weather is warming up.

Now it’s time for lunch … sardines on toast … yum.

We call them Laundromats--here. So glad I have one about 1/2 mile up, can put in the big machine, and go back home, then return in 60 mins. The one I used last week cost me $6.00, just saying.

And its Tuesday, 68 degrees and sunny. Some garden stuff today.

Maybe I will go to the chess club gathering at noon, depends on wanting to leave the garden or not.

Tonight going to a township meeting to join the group that are fighting to re-open a bakery that some "fool' neighbor complained about being too much traffic in and out to purchase baked goods, they are only open 2 days a week. Shall see the workings of the government at its best, LOL. The thing is---the township approved the business, and the baker put out his money renovating his garage to make it commercial for baking etc, got that approval also. The township should have not approved the business if there was a possible "traffic" issue. Should be interesting.

                    Ok, later.

Had a look through that list, @Badly_Maintained, plenty to make me chuckle!
An ice cream van, how exciting! I might have to dig out a tub from the freezer, now you’ve put the idea in my head, @Dovefromabove.
Our nearest laundrette is miles away in Exeter, and apart from the parking issues, I imagine I’d be having to fight my way through the hundreds of university students ( although may be they don’t actually wash their clothes too often?) On a side note, evidently the charity shops in Exeter do very well out of the better funded foreign students. Having splashed out on designer gear, they can’t be bothered to pay the excess baggage fees when they go home at the end of the year, and donate lots of it.
Ooh, @Punkdoc, that’s put a picture in my head I can’t get rid of! I might have to go and have a lie down!
It’s been a glorious day here, sunny and warm. The ground was a little damp, after a horrendous rainstorm at about 9pm last night, but we had a wonderful walk. Saw a pair of yellow hammers, and some wildflowers I haven’t identified yet.
Must remember to get the recycling and the bin out tonight, a day late after the bank holiday, that’s put my routine out of kilter.

I've potted up/planted out in my border all the marigolds. As I was doing this, my helpful neighbour exclaimed "Slug food!" "Slug food"! Right, will have to put up barriers to stop 'em.
                        Wanna ice cream now...

I did smile at those wonderful, clever names @Badly_Maintained as in the neighbouring village there is a chippy called 'Oh My Cod' similar to the one in Belfast. I would find it extremely difficult to rate them as I think they are all worthy candidates to take the prize. Please let us know, if you get the result, which is the overall winner.

We used to have a ‘Chris and Chips’ van visiting our village every week, but sadly they went out of business, now we have the ‘Codfather’ instead.
Not a pun as such, but a local firm, Sidmouth Scaffolding, has the tagline, ‘Securing pole position’ which always brings a smile to my face.

Evening all, rather late posting today as I've been busy in the garden all day making the most of the dry sunny weather to finish off my compost bin area. All done and tidied up just as OH came home from his canal trip. Enjoyed a cuppa together catching up on each other's news. He's exhausted with walking to and from all the locks on the canal but did enjoy the long weekend.
Friday though wasn't so great as they all got drenched in heavy rain!

Many thanks for all the compliments on the front garden view - I have to admit it doesn't always look like that! I love the heucheras at any time of year as they provide a welcome splash of colour.

We actually had dinner out on the terrace for the first time this year. The weather station said it was 25.3c which fooled me a bit as it certainly didn't feel that hot at 7 pm. Beat a hasty retreat indoors for coffee and biccies - OH bought home some leftovers of Bourbons, haven't had those for ages.

Must dash, DIL is expected any minute now so I'd better go and load the dishwasher!
