I read this and it really is the most wonderful thing I’ve read in a very long time … I’m quite damp around the gills … a member of my extended family had hereditary deafness and while she coped incredibly well I watched her from the age of four and realise how isolating deafness can be and how it impacted on her education and every aspect of her life … this is nothing short of miraculous …

        Morning all.

I read about that too @Dovefromabove, such exciting good news. Another medical advance is in treatment for for cystic fibrosis, which my great nephew has. A new drug has made a big difference.

I didn't have a very good night. Charles, nearly 3, was awake and chatting to himself at 1 and 4 and calling for Mummy at 6am. He is a bundle of excitement and energy. The children were up early as it's an hour later in France.

We are going to the local town and the SM this morning. The grandchildren ate all the bananas and grapes and a loaf of bread soon after arriving yesterday. We'll have lunch in a local pub then go to Bressingham Gardens for the afternoon. They have little steam trains there.

          Morning all.

Continued best wishes to @Dordogne Damsel , Charlie and Laurent. She (Damsel) is like @Dovefromabove , i.e. a thoroughly good person who has had to endure a lot of misfortune in her life. I can only hope that much, much better days lie ahead. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the surgery.

At some stage I'm going to get a photo of my honoured guest (the ladybird), who I spotted again yesterday evening.

Have a safe and happy day out there ladies and gentlemen.

Dordogne Damsel hope things improve steadily and very well for your guy.

I’ve had a very refreshing wash, dressed and having some tea. I had the munchies early hours.

                Hi all

                Another beautiful day here.
Early start as I had my latest COVID jab, at a pharmacy in a very out of the way place in Sheffield.
Now I think I shall relax in the sun, well I will until I spot some jobs that need doing immediately.

                  Good morning all ☕.
Warm and sunny again, but work calls so I won't get more than the occasional 5 minutes outside. The medium weigh duvet is out on the line to air, and I'll put the thin summer one on tonight because it's been too hot the last few nights.

Good morning to all. The sun is rather reluctant to show itself as yet. I'm getting more and more tired as the week goes on. I've put out the washing and cleaned the bathroom and am having a cup of tea as a reward. The rest of the day will be more relaxing, I hope. @Punkdoc I think all of us gardeners recognise that moment when we sit down in the garden to rest and then spot something that needs doing! I hope you won't be too sore after your Covid jab. Is this latest one for the over 70's?
My best wishes to @Dordogne Damsel that all will be well.
Have a good day everyone, may the sun shine on you and your loved ones.
ps @Ladybird4, your posts do cheer me up- thank you.

I was back here just after 9 and OH was getting the beanpoles up. Now the beans are planted, tied in and watered. It’s about a week earlier than I would normally plant them out but the forecast is congenial and as we’re going to be away next week so I’ll rely on you lot to keep an eye on them for me

No, @pattie, I am still a baby, but sadly with chronic health conditions which enable me to have regular COVID jabs, for which I am grateful. I would pay for them, if I didn't get them free, because I believe the threat from COVID is still very real.

                        Beans are looking good, @Dovefromabove

Hello all. I’ve been practicing my driving because the doctor is threatening to say I can’t any more. I got my first drivers licence in 1960.

@Punkdoc is it possible to pay for COVID vaccines now? I haven't heard anything about it, but I wouldn't be surprised if the government was not publicising it to keep demand down and play down the risk (which I also believe is still real).

Last year I was offered (and took) an autumn booster but not a spring booster, and I haven't been offered one yet this year. My guess is I'm in the "GP's discretion" group, autoimmune disorder but not taking immune-suppressing drugs, and they offered me one last autumn because they had some left after offering it to the over-70s, people with health issues that definitely qualify, etc.

Yes, @JennyJB, you can now buy the vaccine, £95 from Boots, I believe. Very poor if it has not been publicised, might need to speak to someone.

                                Thanks @Punkdoc.
I hadn't really looked for any info on private COVID vaccines, but I certainly haven't heard of it on the news etc.
At that price I think I'll wait a while and see whether the NHS offers me one. Meanwhile still being diligent about hand washing etc. Costs nowt, not particularly inconvenient, everyone should do it.
