Really? how is he threatening you, wow. Guess your older than me, or age requirements are different. Got my driving license in 1968. Over here, with AARP (a senior citizen group) you can take senior driving refreshing course, when you get the passing certificate it can also lower your car insurance.

Recall, when I worked as a Social Worker/Discharge planner in a local hospital, I would come across a family visiting their grandmother/father who had dementia. The family would say "I don't allow her/him to drive my children in their car in case of and accident. With that I would respond, but its ok for them to drive and have accidents with other peoples children. They'd look at me. OR---some would say, "am I allowed to take the keys away"? SMH.

Thursday morning. a nice crisp 65 degrees here.
Still plugging away at the long trip planning starting the end of August, started from home in PA, on 8/25 got to Mass. then to Maine, then to New Brunswick, Canada, ferry over to Digby (that is Sept. 2). Whale watching on 9/3, exploring about. Finally on Cabots Trail 9/6, rounding it out to the other side, 9/8. Carefully doing the mileage calculations / time ---thank goodness for mapquest. And that is where I am at now. Next is planning to cut across and get to Prince Edward Island, two or three days, then start down toward Maine, to Portland, I believe, unless some else I find more interesting. We should be back home on Sept.16 ish.

And, just locked down a week for October in Key West, Florida. That will be a plane trip/with car rental situation. We will be meeting up with some friends then.

Anyway. Outside soon to garden etc. have a good day all.

Afternoon all, sounds a very interesting (if long) trip @redstar. I bet you're enjoying the planning/researching it all as much as the actual trip. Very much like we were before our 5 week trip to Australia. Couldn't do it now though, haven't got the energy nor the inclination for long trips away.
Hope Bressington helps to keep the children occupied and tires them out @Busy-Lizzie.
A touring caravan is a good short term fix for Rob @Dovefromabove. Like the tidy job on the runner beans! I really must get on with mine, maybe tomorrow.
I haven't done an awful lot today, just swept all the paving around the house, the terraces and steps but that took about 2 hours. Would really like it all power washed now, it would look so much cleaner. Then after lunch I had a go at constructing a plastic cover for my potting table which I hope will keep it cleaner. I used All Weather Tape, a clear one to tape the four corners, hope it lives up to its hype.
Tomorrow I've got a trip to the tip booked then coffee with a friend which I'm looking forward to.
I've just cancelled my 7th Covid jab because I feel slightly uneasy about it this time. I have an autoimmune disease at present and also had blood clots in my lungs last year so I'm taking quite a lot of medication and didn't feel like adding anything else at the moment - rightly or wrongly.

Went out for a walk in the sun this afternoon, heading for the, er, . . . . .

          Strawberry and cream today.

It's the peaceful walk across the fields that relaxes the soul.

Another glorious day here. Started off with our usual go-to of breakfast out and a couple of hours walk, which did include a short rest on a bench, being serenaded by a linnet in the tree above! Lots of baby blue tits around, following their parents to be fed, easy to spot them with all the cheeping and calling!
My afternoon has been no fun though. I’ve been going through the house insurance renewal documents, the premium has jumped up again, so although I was sorely tempted just to pay it, and make it go away, I thought I’d better do some comparison. First on line quote was substantially cheaper, so I’m going to have to put the work in now, and move insurers. I find the whole process really nerve racking, what if I forget to mention something and any future claims get rejected? How far away is the stream across the road and at the bottom of the hill? We’ve only made one claim in 20 years ( which was paid in full) but the whole business gives me a real headache.
I think I’m going to pour myself a drink, and put all this to one side!

Good afternoon all. It was lovely catching up with my friend today and she was delighted with the rooted apple mint plants I took her, in fact she was planting them into their trough as I was leaving. Mental note to self: leave friend's place before the rug rats are released from school!
@pattie, that is such a nice thing to say, thank you very much!

Oh my goodness @PatE that does sound very worrying. Hope your driving practice pays off!
@Busy-Lizzie, it sounds as though you are having a joyous but exhausting time. Bressingham Gardens may still have that wonderful horse carousel that I remember from my visit many years ago

@Ergates, I have just renewed my house insurance. I don't ever allow auto renewal of any insurance as I like to do the research online. As it happens, the company I used last year proved to be the cheapest so I was happy to sign up with them for another year. In September I'll have to go through it all again when my car insurance is due!

                        Good evening,
Well it’s been another glorious day and we were once again able to sit out to eat our sandwich and drink our coffee.
The garden is really coming to life now, and looking fresh and green. I’ve got some lilac coloured phlox in a pot which is looking glorious right now. OH trimmed some spindly bits on the hedge yesterday (not too much as we don’t want to disturb the nesting blackbirds). It hasn’t put them off, they’re still flying in and out with tasty titbits for their chicks. No gardening today other than give a few pots a drink; instead decided to just sit back and enjoy it. Did catch a lily beetle before it got chance to do real harm, though. (I wish the birds found them a tasty morsel, but I suppose that red body of theirs is a good deterrent, so the birds leave well alone). I don’t know of any way of discouraging them, so unfortunately, they get squished if I catch them.
Another fine day is forecast for tomorrow, so hope to make the most of it whilst we’ve got it.

@Ergates, you deserve that drink! House insurance is a nightmare to negotiate, isn't it?
Your walk sounded lovely, as did @RowlandsCastle's. I walked from town with the dog, but we had to go the long way along a difficult road, which neither of us enjoy. It was out of necessity, because to go over the fields was a big risk, as one field has a few cows with their calves. Pooch is terrified of cows and I am too when there are calves with their mums.
@Dovefromabove, what impressive work with your bean planting. I wish I had the space to do likewise... I particularly love broad beans.

It's been a lovely sunny day. We went to the SM and bought loads of fruit and bread. Iwas amazed at the quantity of both that the children eat. We walked around town and bought books for Edward's birthday, he chose them. 10 today.

Then we had lunch in a local pub before visiting Bressingham Gardens. The children loved the steam trains and the carousel and they had a good run in the gardens. I hope they sleep well tonight as we will be visiting Cambridge tomorrow. Bressingam was looking lovely, despite being early in the season and the weeds. There were 3 gardeners working away to get it ready for the summer season.

I have posted photos on the Garden Visits thread. @RowlandsCastle have you found it yet?Gardens and Pretty Places we have visited

Thank you @pattie … it does look nice when the beanpoles are up … we know that summer is on its way.

I’ve collected my car … it’s has had the cam belt changed, plus auxiliary belt and water pump … all in the price I paid for the car.

I’ve just heard from WonkyWomble … son was near her home just now so he’s called in to see her and have a bath (he’s got a shower at work but he likes a good soak) and she’s given him a homemade ‘Cornish style’ pasty. He’ll probably come back here sometime over the weekend but we’ll miss him as we’ll be with MIL. Next door will be keeping an eye on things here, including any watering that needs doing. They’re very good. :)
