    Good morning all :coffee1:
it’s a misty morning and 10C. Glad you got some rain @PatE :)
As you say @Anna42 … that does sound like exciting times!
We heard last night that all had gone well and MIL was back at home with SIL looking after her.
We’ll get things sorted and packed and get on our way mid morning to take over from SIL … but first coffee is needed …

Good morning everyone. That is good news about your MIL @Dovefromabove. Safe journey today.
The Travel Show this weekend on the Beeb brought back memories of @Topbird's trip to Antarctica. I only caught the end of it but it showed the travellers pitching their tents at Leith Cove and there were some spectacular films of humpback whales feeding. The sounds of the glaciers calving was quite amazing. If you get chance to glance in @Topbird you could maybe get the programme on iPlayer when you get back home from your trip to Croatia.

@RowlandsCastle, I'm glad that the mis-firing of the alarm clock yesterday didn't make your OH late for her first day.
@PatE, pleased to read that you have finally had rain - despite the fact you missed it!
@Anna42, :goodpost:I was fascinated to read about the water buffalo. Does your neighbour produce mozzarella cheese from their milk?

Good morning all. Finally it's weekend. Sunny and warm morning. After I finish my tea, might visit SM, and afternoon is booked for cottage.
@steephill, sorry to hear about your health issues. Hope you will have relaxing holiday.
I'm lucky that @Topbird also has a nice weather, and now can come out from hiding. God knows what could happen if she had a rain for few days.:phew:
Wish you all nice and relaxing Saturday!

Good morning @Ante1. I'm glad that the weather is good for you, a) to avoid @Topbird's vengeance if it rained and b) so you can get your work done at the cottage.
Apparently wide swathes of the UK were treated to shows of the Northern Lights last night. I didn't see them unfortunately but have seen some wonderful pictures. Tonight there may be another chance between 22:30 and 23:00. I will try to keep awake!

I missed the Lights too @Ladybird4 … I was sound asleep … perhaps we’ll be lucky tonight ag MIL’s … we’ll be a bit further north and there’ll be less light pollution there.

Hi @Loofah. @steephill is on island Hvar in southern Dalmatia. It's also known as sunny island because they have around 300 sunny days per year.

                      Morning all.
I didn't get time to post yesterday. I've read back but can't remember what I was going to comment on, except I hope @steephill enjoys the rest of his holiday and I'm glad that @Dovefromabove's MIL is back home.

We went to Cambridge yesterday. Started with a guided tour of the colleges nearest the river then we went on a big punt on the river and the young man who punted the boat told us more about the history of the town. We walked quite a lot and the restaurant that OH had booked for lunch was 20 minutes walk away from King's College and the car park so that was another 40 minutes on top of the 1h30 of the tour. I was glad we had 2 pushchairs for the children. My gammy knee hurts this morning. I really enjoyed the punt, the ruver and back of the colleges are beautiful.

Today we are going to the Broads. I have rented a boat for the afternoon. Lunch in a pub by the river first.

                        Good Morning everyone.

Plenty going on with you all. This warm spell is a real tonic and it’s so lovely to be outdoors, whether it’s gardening, pottering or just sitting.

                        Have a smashing Saturday folks.

                          Hi all

Glad your MIL is ok, @Dovefromabove.

Another beautiful day, and I am home alone, so no excuse for not cracking. Need to remember to have dinner ready for when Moira returns, we are going to have confit duck legs, left over from the Christmas duck.

Morning everyone, have not posted for a few days, I have been trying to catch up in the garden, on the plots and on here. Typical we missed the Northern lights as well several neighbours have posted pictures, apparently you couldn't see them with the naked eye but they showed on camera. @steephill I had to see a doctor in Japan, very efficient, though I had to pay it was not worth claiming on my holiday insurance, consultation plus antibiotics, less than £50. All these politicians that drone on about how our NHS is the envy of the world, need to look at how well things work elsewhere. The longest part of the process was filling out the registration form.
More gardening, and plotting to do, before rain returns next week.

                              Morning all.

Sorry to hear of your health troubles @steephill . I hope you are able to enjoy your holiday nonetheless (in what looks like a very beautiful place).

Hopefully the water buffalo won't damage the fencing on your land during their visit @Anna42 .

Glad to hear your Mother In law's surgery went OK @Dovefromabove . Hopefully she will have a speedy recovery.

@Ladybird4 you bring the sunshine - your Aunty Gwendoline comment amused me greatly :)

For a few weeks now I have been waking at 4am and have been unable to get back to sleep again. It is unhelpful, but I suppose it will eventually sort itself out.

This morning I'm off on a toy run. This involves me distributing toys, books etc. to the parents of children who live in this part of the village. I tend to favour those who have suffered bereavement, economic hardship, divorce etc. It has two benefits for me: it tends to make me happier and it is also a useful salvo fired in my ongoing war against my strong reclusive tendencies.

I hope everyone is able to enjoy today. Best wishes to all as always.

Thank you @Ante1 I really appreciated the efficient health treatment I have received. My first consultation cost 40euros as I hadn’t received my health card before we travelled. That is less than the excess on my insurance so no point in claiming. For the second consultation I found the online Provisional Replacement Certificate service which was accepted so it only cost me 1 euro 30! And the second treatment was potentially life saving, old men’s plumbing problems. I will spare the details but I am very relieved.
