Morning all. 60degrees here, almost 9AM. still on my coffee.
Hope all who have aches/pains or illness get better and/or find the way to work with it.
So sorry @Goldenlily26 , about your dog, its tough when they get sick. Right now we are absent any fur babies, lost our last one Dec. 8.
@Badly_Maintained, have you tried the pressure point on your palm for the headache?

Today, looks like it will rain later. Might do some more weeding or pruning about outside. Chess Club meeting today later, such a nice group of folks they are.
Still puttering about regarding the Nova Scotia trip, on week of Sept. 9th to decide where to stay for two nights on Prince Edward island, but do I want three nights? Small island, have to see what there is to see etc. Fun.

We've had a mixture of sunshine and showers so far today. I did my usual walk in a hurry then drove OH to our local hospital for a routine appointment. He buses back. The roads were chaos at the hospital entrance as ingoing cars were queuing for the car park and blocking the internal roundabout as well. Whilst I was near, I dropped in a paper prescription request to my surgery as I found out last night that my NHS account isn't showing some of my repeat meds any more which is rather a nuisance.
Back home I had a quick coffee then managed some weeding before getting rained off.
Sounds like your migraines might be stress related @Badly-maintained, do you have a long journey between your parents residences?
Sympathises re the sinusitis @Punkdoc, it's a horrible condition to get.
@Ladybird4, glad you enjoyed the quiz.

 

I have had a sort and cull of my indoor seed trays and waved goodbye to the failed courgettes (wasn’t warm enough plus the compost was looking dry on top but I had clearly over-watered as it was soaking inside (peat free seed compost). On a positive note - I have loads of sweet peas ready to plant out (will give them a week of hardening-off first).

A bit more pottering then in for a tea and to watch last night’s Garddio A Mwy (Welsh gardening prog. It’s on iPlayer with subtitles).

 

How very annoying for you @Rosie love nature. More hanging about I'm afraid. They should give you money back for inconvenience.

 

Ooh, it's wet! I've been pruning my forsythia (again) in between the showers but have now given up.

I have sweet peas to plant, too. I will probably put them in a large pot on the patio as they are a bit small and they'd probably get munched. I'm hoping some rich compost will kick them on.

OH has come home from work now as he is playing in a match (golf) this afternoon. Hope he has plenty of gear for the rain!

I used to watch that when we lived in England @AuntyRach but since moving to Wales I have forgotten all about it!! Blame the stress of moving etc! Thank you for mentioning it, off to iPlayer pronto

My new hardy orchids arrived yesterday. I braced myself and donned the waterproofs to get them straight into the garden. I'll check soon to make sure that all is fine with them. Meanwhile here is a glimpse:

There are three different types. The one at the back is a Dactylorhiza hybrid - should have F1 vigour, the one in front of that is a Dactylorhiza foliosa and the one to the right is a Dactylorhiza praetermissa. My established orchids are not quite open yet but once they are I'll post a picture of them.

Oh dear heaven! I have just seen some dreadful news and pictures of an attack on a police van in Rouen. Distressing to watch as some policemen were shot and killed.
Apologies for this post as I was so shocked by what I saw that it was just a gut reaction to express my feelings.

Shocking indeed @Ladybird4 … we saw it on the news yesterday. I was surprised that the police and prison vans had to pass actually through the tollgates when doing such dangerous work … it makes them very vulnerable to hold up exactly as happened yesterday. You’d think there’d be a fast track route straight through for them so they dont have to slow down.

Another grey, wet day here.
We were supposed to be away this W/e meeting up with Moira’s family, but that has been cancelled due to a death, very sad, but we are all getting older, and deaths are becoming more frequent.
