Good morning all. Brightening up here but I am back to work after my lovely long weekend. At times like these I so long to retire but I do feel I still need some proper structure to my week and I am such a lazy person I am sure it wouldn’t be good for me just yet.
I heard about that attack on the radio @Ladybird4 so shocking and a thoroughly awful person involved some sort of “drug baron” I think. Those poor police and their families.

Our train was cancelled. We are on the one nearly an hour later. OH always books an early one so we should still be in time for the plane. Can't rely on the trains any more

Sad news from Ulladulla (my home town). My sister has passed away. She’s only been in the retirement home for a couple of weeks, but apparently she faded quickly. She’s 88, going on to 89. We won’t be travelling down for the funeral. The drive is too much for us nowadays. . Never mind. Her children will be there to see that everything is done well.

Oh @PatE I'm so sorry to hear about the death of your sister. They are precious things - sisters. I only have one but make up in the brother department. My sincere condolences.

Golly!! @Busy-Lizzie Hope you make that flight!

I agree @Ladybird4 what a ghastly thing to happen in Rouen. I would have thought the same thing @Dovefromabove and I imagine they did get waved through, but the van would have had to slow down anyway to go through the tolls. Most likely an inside job. Police work is such a dangerous job, even taking statements at the local constabulary is dangerous these days. Poor families.

That's bad luck @Punkdoc but you are right, as we get older we seem to diminish in numbers.

Hope you have a good day @Debs64

My x-rays show up that there is little cartilage left. There is no one these days to explain the x-rays to you. You just get a ticket and told to wait. In - out. Wait for the results, pay and get out! BUT - the appointment was on time (I arrive 15 minutes beforehand), and the waiting time for the results was only about 20 minutes. Not so bad.

@Tui34 they should send copies to your GP with a recommendation for the next step - prothèse?? - and a referral to a suitable surgeon. Shop around as some are better than others, as are the clinics.

Hope you get your plane OK @Busy-Lizzie.

I'd expect police and prison vehicles to be equipped with a badge dooberry like we have but you still have to slow down to less than 30kph for the technology to identify you so the barriers opens and the system can then bill your account. I expect they'll be having a re-think about routes to take and safety precautions at likely danger spots and not just in Rouen.

                    Sorry for your loss, @PatE

If you believe you can interpret the figures to tell you which is the best surgeon, then you are a better man than me, @Tui34. Even as an "expert", I would not have dreamt I was capable of doing that. Asking your referring clinician, or physiotherapist will give you a far better idea. I was more than happy to accept pot luck, joint replacement is pretty straightforward.

That be done @Obelix-Vendée and @Punkdoc I have an appointment with the surgeon (who did my left hip in 2017) next month. The op was successful and the "after sales service" is/was excellent.

I'm sorry @Punkdoc you had bad news and @PatE, my condolences to you and your family.
I can barely watch the news these days, it's heartbreaking how people around the world suffer through the evil actions of others.
No gardening today as I've spent the day so far shopping and dog walking and I'm crackered of the cream.
Safe journey @Busy-Lizzie, I crossed my fingers that you caught your flight.
It's showery but not cold, so I am spending this afternoon reading a Monty Don book outside under the canopy.

                            Thank-you for your very kind words @Dovefromabove , @Ladybird4 , @Tui34 & @pattie .

I hope that you and your OH have a wonderful time on the cruise @Ergates

@redstar Is there a pressure point on my palm for headaches? I honestly did not know this.

Best wishes to your canine companion @Goldenlily26 , and I hope you will be able to get your car MOT'd soon and regain your four-wheeled mobility.

Hopefully your back will settle down again soon @floralies , and I hope your new hearing aids are a great success.

You are having a stressful time with the missing parcel @Rosie loves nature . With any luck it will appear on your doorstep soon.

Safe journey back to La Belle France @Busy-Lizzie .

Hope your OH's hospital appointment brings him good news @lizzie27 . I also very much hope they are able to sort out the situation with your repeat prescriptions. It is about 36km (22 miles) between the village where both my Mother and I have our houses and the nursing home where my Father is resident. Roads are almost all terrible in this district unfortunately, so it feels much farther.

@Tui34 with luck now someone will be able to take the x-ray results and formulate some sort of treatment plan to help you.

                            Beautiful orchids @Ladybird4 .

Very sorry to hear of the bereavement @Punkdoc . My best wishes to all concerned.

I'm also very sorry to hear of the passing of your Sister @PatE My sincere condolences for you and your family circle at this very sad time.

Cloudy and dry today with brief (but welcome) sunny spells.

Have a safe day out there folks.
