You've shouldn't have said not to look @Dovefromabove! Of course I had to look - yuk!

Welcome to this thread @Valley Gardener.

Forecast was wrong. It tipped with rain and was only 14C! Picnic was in the village hall. We were saying goodbye to a couple who are moving north. We've known them for 8 years. There were quite a lot of people.

It reminds me of the sort of plot Midsomer Murders would be keen on!

I’ve a feeling there was one with that in the plot.

on a more serious note, a shopkeeper in the village where I used to live refused to sell Maltesers Ovaltine or Horlicks or anything that smelled like that … she told me that she was a child when her father, who worked in a small brewery in Halesworth, Suffolk, fell into a vat of malt and drowned. She said she could never bear the smell after that … she wouldn’t go to Southwold either because the smell from Adnams brewery in the town centre reminded her of those sad times.

There was a New Tricks episode called 'Couldn't Organise One' where a man is drowned in a vat of beer. There was also an episode in Midsomer Murders about a man who died in a pickle factory which put Barnaby off his favourite meal accompaniment.
I am signing out now. Hope I can stay awake to see right through the next episode of 'Red Eye'. Catch you all tomorrow.

                      Good morning all!!

Cool and cloudy. Some sun forecast today but rain has eased off. I think the rest of the French contingent are getting drenched !! @floralies @Busy-Lizzie @Obelix-Vendée @Dordogne Damsel
We were happy with the rain down here despite the slug and snail brigade!!

                      Hello @Valley Gardener !!

Today is a bank holiday for many, but there are some offices and shops open.

I have to contact my opthalmologist tomorrow as I have been waking up in the night with cloudy vision. The bedside clock seems to be behind a thick fog!! It clears after some blinking. I wonder if it's the BP pills I have been taking which apparently can cause dryness. I have the onset of macular disease but opthalmologist says it hasn't progressed at last appointment.

                      Great photo @Ergates !!

I hope all danger of frost has passed - if it hasn't.....
S'il gèle à la Saint Bernadin, adieu le vin!

I hope you all have a lovely start the week.

                        Morning all.

It's raining again! OH is fed up, he wants to mow but he's being forced into No Mow May!
Daughter 1 lives further north of us, a bit south east of Poitiers, and she said that yesterday was a lovely sunny day.

I may go to a GC and buy some tomato and courgette plants - if there is one open. It's Pentecost Monday but I don't think it is an official bank holiday anymore. Some shops close but not all.

EDIT Yes it is a bank holiday. It wasn't one between 2005 and 2008 but changed back to being a bank holiday because of objections from the French.

                          Hi all

                          Dry but dull.
Starting to feel overwhelmed by the sheer amount of work I have to do in the garden, it is a very labour intensive garden and I really ought to be reducing the workload, but instead, I seem to be increasing it.
On Wednesday we are off to Sunderland to see Bruce Springstein and it looks like it is going to be torrential rain all day, fun.

                            Good morning all :coffee1:

@Punkdoc my son will be soooo jealous … The Boss is his hero …

Hope we’ve all slept well … I did which is good … I think I’ve mentioned I’ve got bit of infected otitis externa in one ear … I get it from time to time and it usually clears up with a bit of Savlon and some aspirin, but it’s been a bit more sore than usual over the weekend … but it didn’t disturb my sleep last night which it did the night before so [IMG]
We’ve decided we will pop over to MIL’s Thursday/Friday for a quick visit and to pick up my courgette plants (I did tell you we’d left them there didn’t I? Duh… I use the word ‘we’ advisedly … I wasn’t loading them … but I should’ve checked). WonkyWomble was going to get me some replacements from the nursery but they’ve sold out. They had hundreds … it seems everyone is growing courgettes this year … apparently they’ve never sold out before!
OH is working today but just an 11-3 shift … I’ll pop to Wrose on the way back from taking him and pick up a small bacon joint or fish to have with our broad bean tops and parsley sauce.

And in other news … two more mice this morning and nearly as many slugs in the pub last night as the night hefore! I shall have to buy more beer as well. :paladin:
