Do you think that beer actually attracts slugs from far and wide @Dovefromabove ? Something I've considered in the past when I caught loads that way :roflol:

Good morning. It's a dull and cloudy start to the day and looking at the forecast, it may well be the same all day. Never mind, I enjoyed the sunshine over the weekend.
The sweet fragrance of lilac is wafting through the open window and the birds are in fine voice- particularly the baby starlings around the many nesting sites- I just wish they'd hurry up and fledge, leaving us all in peace!
Domestics are done, just our walk in a while.
Ha, I planted up my sweet peas at last.
          Aunty Rach?

Hope your vision improves @Tui34 one strange side effect I suffer from infections is my eyes de-couple. Normal stereo vision doesn’t work so I need to close one eye when I need to be sure of 3D positioning like pour a glass of water or using stairs. On the upside I know that when my vision clears up I am on the mend.

Hello all, the weather is quite depressing, a cold wind and no sun, OH wants to cut the grass but it's too wet. I spoke to my daughter yesterday, she was in shorts and t-shirt and I was wearing a thick jumper with a fleece gilet, I feel so sorry for anyone on holiday down here, very disappointing for them. How are your slugs and snails @Tui34? My lettuces are holding up well at the moment!
              Fabulous picture @Ergates.

:sign0016: @Craig John. Forgive me if you have posted on here before and I've missed you. As for the weather it's dreadful. We get a lovely day and get cautiously optimistic and the next day it pours down. You can even get the variations on one day.

How are you doing @steephill? Hopefully you don't have any more medical emergencies.
When I went across to see Jack (ex cat sitter) the other day I took him a cucumber plant. He is a marvellous 93 year old and he had planted up the tomato es I had taken him earlier. Anyway, it is his daughter's birthday on Wednesday and he asked me if I would get him a birthday card for her. This request gave me the marvellous excuse of visiting my nearest garden centre as I know that they stock cards - they have several franchises within the centre.
I had only been in the GC about 5 minutes when all hell broke loose. My eardrums were almost shattered by a fire alarm I just happened to be standing by. The very few customers (I'd gone for opening time) had to evacuate the buildings and head for the car park. It turned out that it was just a practice. I picked up a lovely card for Jack and it just so happens that this leapt into my basket:
                  Primula vialli.jpg
This one should split into 4-5 individual plants once it has finished flowering. Very happy with my purchase.

                    Afternoon folks.

I have an extended weekend day today, so will recharge my (solar) batteries ready for the working week ahead.

I planted out the sweet peas yes @pattie! Beer traps caught a few slugs by dusk but not many more through the night - maybe because it was dry? No munches on the sweet peas yet though…

                    Have a good Monday everyone.

Afternoon all. Come in for a shower and hair wash after cutting the grass and doing some hedge trimming. It's getting quite warm again now the sun's come out. Spent much of yesterday afternoon just lazing in the garden as it was the first warm day (while we've actually been at home) and because the forecast was for it to cool down a lot. Hasn't happened yet!

Two more mice Dove. That's quite a little population you've got going on there. Have you found out where they're getting in yet? My neighbour had a rat get into his loft by chewing a plastic air vent and then scrambling up inside the cavity wall. The thought of that gave me nightmares so I now do a regular inspection of the areas around air bricks and keep them completely clear of vegetation and objects which might give them cover.

All my lupin flower heads have disappeared overnight - slugs or muntjac. The 'pruning' of some of the hardy geraniums suggests the deer are visiting again - grrr.

@Ladybird4 - lovely primula. I can't grow that particular type - my garden is too dry for too much of the year. Suspect yours provides perfect conditions...

Monday morning, 64 degrees here, 8:27 Am. On to my second cup of coffee.
Thinking about what to do today.
@Topbird also pruned out some Hardy Geraniums yesterday. And I think I have someone who wants some, hate tossing them to the burn pile, but they just keep going. Cleaned up another area of the spent Virginia Blue Bells.
Always something to do in a garden.
In about 10 days we will have Memorial Day weekend here, should check about and see if there is something interesting to go to for a day trip.
                        Take care all.

Thanks for asking @Ladybird4 I can feel the antibiotics working thankfully but my a*** is beginning to resemble a pincushion! A couple more doses of that to go but I only have one left so I have to hope the pharmacy gets a delivery on Wednesday as promised. So far the local A&E, the medical centre and a local doctor have all had a go and as the doctor is next door to the pharmacy it looks like they will be given the honour.
Then of course once I get home I will need to get my own doctor and hospital consultant up to speed.
