We had a lovely seafood lunch in Charlestown before crashing out back home.

About an hour after the family had left my dog flushed out some of next door's chickens in my garden. He chased one over the bank into the field and then total silence. I waited, called and rattled his treats tin. Nothing. I put on shoes, found his lead, took treats and ventured forth to the field.
It is completely overgrown with nettles and brambles so very difficult to force your way through. It was some time before I found him lying on his side at the bottom of the bank, tied by one leg by a bramble. Initially I thought he had a broken leg but he was intact, too heavy for me to carry I managed to post him back over the bank into my garden.
It was ages before he calmed down after the excitement of the chase while I was in a state of exhaustion.

      Good morning all :coffee1:
Sorry I missed your offer of coffee @AuntyRach … unusually for me at that time of the morning I was sound asleep! I have a coffee now tho :)
Today looks to be marginally better than yesterday … it could hardly be worse …there were floods and lightning strikes in Norfolk yesterday afternoon. Don’t think I’ll be gardening tho … I hope it stays fine for the second day of @Angie Jones (nut) ‘s gorgeous Open Garden :fingers crossed:
      Have a good journey @Busy-Lizzie.

Hello everyone. My sister’s funeral went nicely today. We watched it on the TV. Our son and daughter drove down to Ulladulla for it. They enjoyed meeting some cousins.

The weather is getting colder here. Minus temps every day and dropping by a couple of degrees each day. I’m fully expecting snow in the district.

Oh my goodness @Goldenlily26. That must have been a real stress for you. Glad to hear that your chicken chasing dog is unhurt though.
Hello @PatE. It was good to read that the funeral went as well as these things do. I am going to a funeral tomorrow. A lovely lady who was a member of our coffee and tea mornings. She had had a brain tumour and was responding well to the treatment after her operation but then she developed sepsis and had nothing left to fight with. She is much missed.

Im glad all went well @PatE and that you we’re able to attend, even if remotely. We did that with a friend’s mum’s funeral during lockdown. It’s amazing how moving it can be.

That’s sad @Ladybird4 … it was sepsis that did for my brother … his multiple tumours had been slowed but his body had no fight left.
My thoughts are with all who loved and cared for your friend.

                Hi all

Terrible weather again, so I have only just bothered to get up. Will have a check round everywhere, but otherwise a lazy day.

Chilli for tonight’s supper made and chuntering on the hob, and rough puff pastry made and resting in the fridge until tomorrow when I’ll make some sausage rolls.

Half of me wants to plant the toms, courgettes and squashes out as they’re obviously hungry, but with a week of rain ahead according to the forecast the thought of slug and storm damage is staying my hand.

Hmm think the heavens are about to open … decision made for me … I shall spend the afternoon at Roland Garros

Well so much for a lazy day, rain stopped so out I went, did what I do best, supervised Moira planting out some more Dahlias.
                    Now it is raining again.

Afternoon all, it's not too bad here, much the same as yesterday, a mix of sunshine and frequent showers so I'm in and out of the house like a yo-yo. I've sowed some carrots in a large pot by the back door and some dwarf French Beans in the raised veg beds. OH's runner beans have survived out so far so I might sow some more in loo rolls as a back up.

Glad your sister's funeral went okay @PatE.
Sorry to hear about your friend @Ladybird4, hope the funeral goes well.
@Goldenlily26, that must have been quite worrying for you so glad your dog is okay. Sounds a bit dodgy fighting those brambles by yourself, perhaps think about phoning somebody from the village to help next time?

Right time to get out in the garden for another stint, I want to cut back a rather large pittosporum which is beginning to touch the house roof.

Not a fluid ounce of soured cream in Wrose … we’re having to have yoghurt with our chilli. Is everyone in Norwich having chilli tonight?

Monday, Memorial Day for USA to remember all those who gave the ultimate for freedom. My uncle Joe was one of them. Over in France on the beach in WW2. So young.
Raining some here on and off. Trees dropping lots of stuff all over, the deck was cleaned yesterday, could not tell right now. Oh, well.
Just doing laundry. Finally was able to hook up on phone with an old friend, Glenda, had a lovely chat.
It was unbelievable---husband over heard me say to Glenda that I'd never live down at our airbnb fulltime, he took it so unbelievably crazy wrong. Like the list is endless why we can't ever live there, no room for all your cars first off, we love our garden up here, Amish is here for fresh veggies etc, stores are 6-8 miles away. And he says I am negative about it, nope just realistic. Nuts.

@Goldenlily26 , yes, stress when a dog takes off like that. My GSP took off after a deer once, though the woods etc. I was able to get up the road and get into the 10 acre field where I saw him way on the other end, he saw me yelling from there and ran quickly to me. Thank goodness he lost the scent.

Anyway, on to whatever. Take care all.

Seizures - fall - hospital - enforced absence from computer screens.
More scars and bruises, but no broken bones. Improved my looks no end. Now I have to see my neurologist at London hospital on Thursday. Wife NOT amused!!
