Evening everybody, that's a bit of a bummer @Dovefromabove , about £800 if my experience last year is anything to go by! I, too, am trying to make my 30 year old crowns last as long as possible - they were only insured for five years.

Glad you enjoyed your celebratory meal @Punkdoc, sounds very interesting but far too 'faffy' for me. Shame the weather wasn't very good though.

Having said that, our weather today was much nicer than yesterday. We enjoyed our usual walk but on the way back, found a rather squished bee nest on the road with lots of small agitated bees either trying to hoover up the honey or find the queen bee, or both. It looked like it had either been blown or blasted off by sheer volume of rainwater from the tree overhead. Nothing we could do as a car/tractor was likely to run over it (it's a single track lane).
Spent the rest of the day just pottering in the garden.

 

Thanks to so many of you. @redstar I used to play chess, but that was many years ago. (I played for my school, but also for college and my first employer. Maybe I can find a club locally. But I'll be very rusty!!

Poor you @Dovefromabove. I do hope it won't be too costly - but I suspect it will be. Saw a friend this pm and she is spitting nails. She's just downgraded her Denplan insurance because she felt it wasn't giving her value for money. Did it two weeks ago and now (of course) she's developed a dental problem which, so far, has necessitated 2 dentist visits which would have been covered on her old policy, but aren't under the new one.

@Punkdoc - it's good to hear that Lisa G-A is as nice in real life as she seems on the TV. I know some famous chefs can be real prima donnas. Marco Pierre White had a restaurant not far from here for a short while and I heard he wasn't always the most pleasant person to work with.

 

@RowlandsCastle , I remember the guy that taught me, a high school chum and top of the class, his goal was to program robots. Looking him up, he is some well published science guy. And we had one date. LOL. Back then who knows what I was thinking. Life is funny.
Usually at my chess club meeting, if I am playing a novice I hold back and help them understand "what the heck are you doing" and let them redo moves.

@Dovefromabove, so sorry to read about your dental troubles. I am due to go to the hygienist myself but until I get rid of this persistent cough I have, I have to stay away. I already know it is going to cost me £75 just for that joyous experience!

We should have quite a nice afternoon so I should be able to do some weeding and planting. I'd hoped to do more but I got too rained on yesterday, which wasn't forecast.
