Hello all, a cold wind here today, not at all pleasant for gardening jobs so I've been in the GH potting on the S Amistad cuttings that I took earlier in the year, they have all taken really well. I hope it turns out to be flaming June @Dovefromabove and not a flaming washout!
We are looking after the cat of one of our neighbours for a couple of days, he just eats and sleeps most of the time, they are away playing petanque.
I think it might be a watch Roland Garros afternoon.

I went back to sleep this morning as I took more strong pain killers as my knee hurt.

Then I pruned the lilac, ladder job, it was getting much too tall with the flowers right on the top. It tipped with rain and I got wet. was sunny when I started.

OH has been brilliant. He's edged all the rest of my beds, they look really good. The gardening club vegetable group are coming to tea on Tuesday, including their president and organiser of the French version of the NGS in this area. He's English. OH mowed yesterday.

Saturday, an awesome 71 degrees here. its 10Am. Happy New Month.
Just finished writing 9 checks out, put in mail, my brain is fried. Anyway, need to get to some errands. Need to get gas for the ridding mower before I start cutting all the grass today. And a few other things to get while out. Used the small push mower yesterday for the areas the large one can't get to.
Nine more days and we sleep at our Airbnb, just read a new review a past guest posted, all 5 stars.
@Busy-Lizzie , knee pain is the worse, my right knee is also nuts, but knew I'd get arthritis as my parents had it. I keep moving, seems moving helps. its tough at our airbnb, cause of all the steps, have considered getting a steroid shot, but still doing research. And trying some exercise to build up my thigh muscle which will help the knee area.

        Take care all. Later.

          Good afternoon all.

The weather isn’t too bad today, but the breeze is on the chilly side. Despite all the rain we’ve had, I’ve had to give all my pots a good drink today, so hope they’ll soon perk up.

I’ve spent the morning washing, drying, ironing and hanging the rest of the curtains. The weather has been ideal for getting them outside to dry. That’s them all done now apart from a door curtain which its label says to hand wash :what:. I think I might risk a gentle machine wash as it will become ridiculously heavy to handle when wet and I don’t have the strength in my hands I once had to wring out a sopping curtain. Once it is washed it can be stored away until the winter.

:coffee1:time now, then I might pop out to do a bit of dead heading. I *could* dust and vacuum the sitting room, (it could do with it), but the deadheading sounds more appealing at the moment :).

            Hello all,
Just popping into say that I usually sow foxgloves around mid June @Debs64 , but as you've got time today I would definitely sow some now. The seeds are so tiny so it's quite tricky to space them out in a seed tray but I use the "crease" in my hand to try and feed them onto the compost.
I keep them in my coldframe and find it takes around 2 to 3 weeks for them to begin to appear. When they're big enough to handle I pot them up into 9cm pots and grow them on before planting out around the end of September/ beginning of October.
Last year's are just coming to the end of flowering, I could leave them to self seed but I need the space !
            Hope this helps .

            Best wishes to everyone :).

Thanks @AnniD i have sown them in trays. With the amount of slugs around I wouldn’t risk sowing outside although I imagine that could work if those slimy critters were not so prevalent. I have done white and apricot foxgloves and white and lemon wallflowers and will hope for some success.

I have had quite a productive time in the garden today. Cut back some of my shrubs that were joining the world domination gang. Got a lot of green stuff into the compost bin and the more invasive mares tail consigned to the council green bin. I've planted out a lot of white London Pride and primulas (thank you again @Topbird!). Tomatoes and cukes in the GH watered plus the white hesperantha I have been growing on prior to planting out. I have already got a jobs list for tomorrow but I'm finished outside for today.
Good luck with the seeds Debs. I am waiting for 24 mixed foxglove plug plants to arrive. I've let someone else do the fiddly work
Signing out for this evening. See you all in the morning.

Evening all, seems most of you have had a busy productive day, whether inside or out.

Best wishes to Wonky @Dovefromabove , hope she likes her new car. It's always sad to get rid of an old favourite one.

My son arrived last night and had a good sleep in this morning, he's exhausted with a very big project he's currently working on. Still, he'll be pleased with this afternoon's rugby results - guess who will be going to Twickenham! Goodness knows what time he'll roll in tonight.

We picked up the paper and a large crusty baton for lunch, still warm from the baker's oven - yummy with cold roast chicken, tomatoes and salad, followed by a fruit and nut flapjack.
I was able to finish concreting the wonky post in, I find the Postcrete stuff really easy to use and it sets quite quickly. Fortunate, because at one stage about 4 ish I thought it was going to rain!
I also emptied out 3 pots of gone over tulips, two of which I planted in our 'orchard' under the long grass as an experiment and the third, this year's tulips I planted into one of the upper terrace beds where the drainage hopefully will be better. I will also be able to see them (if they flower!) from the bedroom window.

Hope all goes well with your garden opening @Busy-Lizzie and that the weather is good. Fingers crossed that the knee recovers.
@redstar, I've had 3 or 4 steroid injections over the last few years into my shoulder which was giving me a lot of grief. Worked well for me initially but the effect seems to wear off after 6-9 months. Worth it though for the relief from a lot of pain.

Right, time for a glass of something cold and a think about dinner.

Chicken and leek pie is in the oven and I'm just sitting down with a glass of sherry.

@redstar my doctor said it's tendons, I had a skiing accident years ago and should have had it seen to after seeing the sports doc on the ski resort, but I had 4 small children and OH was at work so I didn't do anything about it. I had an Xray and arthritis was starting but not ready for an op.

@lizzie27 it isn't as grand as a garden opening, just the veg group coming to tea, but I wanted the garden looking nice, especially as the Open Garden organiser is one of them.

I did a load of ironing this afternoon while I watched GW from last night and an episode of the Chelsea Flower Show.

                      Evening everyone.

It’s been a ‘sunny intervals’ type of day, which makes for a good gardening day in my opinion. I’ve been to an open garden event today and met @Valleysgirl! I really enjoyed the event, and meeting a fellow GC member.

Plenty of gardening pursuits going on with you all.

Enjoy the rest of the evening folks.

                          Good morning all :coffee1:
It’s 10C, bright and dry, and they’ve promised us a sunny day with temperatures going up to 19C
I think I will plant the courgettes and squashes out … maybe even the tomatoes too!!! The poor things look hungry … I’ll get some more beer for the slugpubs first tho.
Ive checked the traps … for the third day running there’s no mice been caught under the airing cupboard floor. None in the greenhouse either this morning. There was one in there yesterday, but not the day before so that’s slowing down a bit too. Hopefully we’re over the worst of it now. :fingers crossed:
OH is at home today … we need to pop out to pick up a prescription and a few bits and bobs but apart from that it’s a quiet at home day with an easy Spanish chicken traybake for supper.
Now, where’s he got to with my coffee … is he wandering around the garden communing with that pair of woodpigeon squabs that’ve taken up residence on my potting table on the terrace … :coffee:

Good morning all. Got some of my offspring here for lunch today, fiancé is planning a day out on his motorbike and I have some bare roots to plant up that were delivered at 8pm yesterday. Some sale goodies from Farmer Gracy.
Hope the sun shines and we can spend the afternoon in the garden.

                              Morning all.

I had a quiet afternoon yesterday ironing, sitting in front of the TV watching GW and The Chelsea Flower Show. I had written gardening instead of ironing in my post above, changed it now, but it looked strange to be gardening in front of the TV!

Knee still hurts but I have 3 dahlias and 1 Lantana waiting to be planted.

                                Good Morning everyone :hotsun:

Beautiful here, apart from some power tool on full pelt on the street. I hope it’s a quick job, whatever it is, as the noise is particularly whiny.

I did wonder about gardening whilst watching GW @Busy-Lizzie!

                                Have a lovely Sunday all.
