Good morning all. Back to work for me today after my lovely week off. Dry here but cooler so I don’t mind too much. Got a busy June and lots to look forward to. Garden is looking good I must admit my slug problems are not too bad especially compared to others on here.Maybe the slimy devils have heard about the slug chomping tortoise who lives here. My son got me a big bag of used coffee grounds any idea if they repel slugs?

Good morning @Debs64. Coffee grounds will deter slugs to a certain extent but they are better put into your compost bin if you have one. I am just trying to visualize Graham - wired all day with the caffeine input. I must admit that I didn't know tortoises ate slugs, I thought they were herbivores.
        p.s. its raining here!

Good morning everyone. I heard the very sad news about Rob Burrows last night and it brought a lump to my throat. What a wonderful, inspiring man.
My OH completed a month's golf challenge to raise money for the MND charity. I was very proud of him and he was delighted at how much his golf improved!
I'm having a coffee right now before I begin my morning tasks. I've spent the last few days pottering about doing enjoyable things in the garden and sitting a lot, reading and enjoying the sunshine. I feel it necessary to concentrate on indoor jobs today boo hoo, but the sun hasn't made an appearance yet.
May you have a wonderful day.

@Ladybird4 I have seen him eat 2 slugs both times they were on his lettuce and really small but he definitely seemed to enjoy them. Tortoises do eat carrion in the wild apparently. I don’t have a compost bin so will try the coffee round my poor petunias

Good Morning everyone. I’m doing ‘funny’ shifts this week, so off today - which extends the weekend a bit.

I have tried coffee grounds to deter slugs and it doesn’t stop them, but worth doing in combination with other measures (beer trap, sacrificial plants etc).

Have a good day all, whether it’s productive, working, doing chores, social, quiet or something else.

Managed to grab a few minutes to read back, hope everyone recovers from their frustrating and worrying medical conditions. Sounds like many of you have finally been able to get going in the garden, with an improvement in the weather.
I’ve been busy recovering from the bug I picked up on holiday, while dog sitting at the same time. The dog is going home tomorrow, and we were recovered in time for a visit from daughter and son in law over the weekend. Enjoyed the wonderful weather, and too much food and drink.
The garden is a nightmare, no mow May has drifted on into June. If I win the lottery, I wonder if I could hire that nice looking young man from Poldark to come and scythe the long grass? I know he isn’t a professional gardener, so I’d obviously have to keep him under close and constant observation while he was working.

Hello everyone. We had lots of heavy rain last night. (21mils). I’m sure the garden is happy. Snow at Thredbo, so cold all day here.

                  Hi all

Been absent for a few days, really suffering as a result of medication reduction. I spent most of yesterday crying, for no obvious reason.
Anyway need to crack on with it, I really don't want to spend the rest of my life on those pills, 25 years is already far too long.

Hello @PatE I have to admit that it seems odd reading about you having snow but then when we are getting any you are toasty warm. Having said that there were slight hints that the high ground in Scotland could have a few snow flurries this week.

                            Good afternoon,

not long back from coffee morning group, so I’ve had a quick read here then must crack on and plant some plants and make a sandwich for lunch.

It seems to be brightening up a bit now after a dull, but not too cold, start.

Sending best wishes to you @Punkdoc.

Thank you all for your kind comments.

Actually @Busy-Lizzie it's been a while since I was there too. Gone are the artists with their easels, painting the dhows - in fact gone are the dhows. Only those 2 hanging around. The spot has been replaced with restaurants and eateries with the tables and chairs gaining more and more space. The little village streets are now full of clothe shops, art deco or the proverbial bracelets and necklace shops.... Very disappointing but we had a nice day out anyway.

Sending warm sunshine and "midi" smiles and joy to you @Punkdoc Hang in there mate!!
