    Good morning all :coffee1:
Huge hugs for you @Punkdoc … hold on. :grphg:

I’m awake, showered and dressed and ready for my coffee … it’s on its way …
It’s 14C and dry out there … but looks like we may have some rain this afternoon.
And as for the mice … I’ve checked the indoor traps and they’re still empty … that’s 4 days … have we done it? :fingers crossed:

Good morning @Punkdoc, @Dovefromabove and all joining in later. Starting off really dark this morning. I had a phone call last night at silly o'clock and as it was an unknown number I ignored it. A message was left for me and it was from an engineer (genuine) from my newly joined gas boiler coverage company as he wants to make an appointment to do the annual service. Once I have had my breakfast I'll call him back.
Hope all goes well at the Dentist's today @Dovefromabove.

        Good morning @Dovefromabove and @Ladybird4

Beautiful morning here - no wind - sunny, so I went out early (6.30) on my bike with the dog before it gets too hot. We had the pathways to ourselves - just a German Shorthaired Pointer having an early morning wee in front of his gate!! No devoted dog walkers.

So I can bide my time over breakfast - read messages etc and listen to the morning news. The swallows are swooping and chattering on my pergola!

Today's expression: A la Saint Clothilde, de fleurs en buissons, l'abeille butine à foison.

        Have a pleasant day.

I am not sure how to create a thread "Off the Subject" but .... has anyone heard of or had, interocular lenses?

I was thinking of @Allotment Boy with his AMD as I seem to be in for at some time.

My brother went to Kuala Lumpur some years ago and had this operation. He is now 65 and doesn't need glasses and apparently, this operation is for life. His lenses are plastic.

I attend this clinic https://www.clinique-causse.com/ which is renown for ophthalmology. They do great things with cataracts by laser surgery which I think, is not the same as getting plastic lenses inserted.

          What do you think?

Morning @Tui34. Interocular lenses are what are put in place after cataracts are removed (I'm hoping I get one of my eyes done soon). My Mum - before she passed away - and a few of my friends have had them done and are thrilled with them. My ex cat sitter Jack had one of his eyes treated at the beginning of last year - at the tender age of 92 - and the second one done later and he is delighted with the results as it has improved his vision greatly. He was quite nervous about having it done but, having taken my mother to have her eyes treated, I was able to reassure him before his first op that he shouldn't be worried. He agrees it has certainly improved his mind set on life.
I have to confess I have no knowledge of lasers being used for cataract treatment though another friend had laser treatment to help with her myopia.

I think it’s quite common now to have new lenses inserted following cataract surgery.

Ah @Ladybird4 has beaten me to it … :)

Lovely Dove and Ladybird! Thank you. I have an appointment early September so I would like to go with some questions and not leave the appointment thinking "I should have asked him this or that?"

I rang the engineer and told him that coming today was out of the question. He is going to check his diary and get back to me with an alternative. Braved the rain and went to the post box at the end of the lane to send a card off to my brother as it's his birthday on Sunday. I found a £5 note on the pavement - noone in sight. Its horrid outside so I might have to brace myself and get some HW done.
@Tui34, the opthalmologist, showed me one of the replacement lenses. It was teeny weeny. He described it as being like a tiny umbrella that pops open once it is inserted. Absolutely fascinating.

                  Morning all.

It's sunny outside, hopefully we can have tea outside when the vegetable group comes. I'll make some sausage rolls. I made a fruit cake yesterday.

                    Good morning,

I might have to put the grass cutting on hold as it’s gone very dark and rain is forecast. Such a shame as it was nice and bright earlier (too early to start cutting grass, though). Tomorrow is forecast to be better so it might have to wait.

I potted up the petunias for the window boxes yesterday (fence boxes, really, as that’s where they are hooked :)). Unfortunately, I’ve run out of compost to put the begonias into their containers so a trip to the GC to get some more is required - the bag size has reduced considerably, but not the price, so it soon runs out. Do they think we don’t notice these things? Another case of shrinkflation .

I hope it doesn’t prove to be an expensive visit to the dentist @Dovefromabove.

Sorry to read you’ve had a poor nights sleep @Punkdoc. It must be very difficult for you at the moment, but we’re all behind you.

Dentist says nothing urgent to be done. He’ll do an extraction … I’ll phone to book when I’ve checked some dates … we’ve a lot on between now and summer. The hygienist has given them a good scrub and pronounced herself satisfied with them ‘for my age’. I’ve done some lingerie shopping :heehee: and am now in Cafe Nero with a coffee and a Cinnamon swirl waiting for my bus in about half an hour.

I’m home and have done some paperwork, picked broad beans for supper (pappardelle with summer veg, goats cheese and basil) and now it’s lunchtime. I’ve also phoned and hooked an appointment for the extraction August … my dentist is busy then away until the end of June and we’ve got lots on in July as OH has an exhibition… if it causes any problem before that all I have to do is let them know and he or a colleague will do an emergency extraction.

Managed to get the grass cut before the rain came .

At least, @Dovefromabove, leaving the extraction until after all your events means it won’t hinder any of those plans.

That was my thinking @Blue arbour … OH doesn’t drive and the exhibition is a bit of a distance from here so there’ll be quite a bit of driving for me … I need to be firing on all cylinders in July

Afternoon all, cloudy and now raining so gardening on hold- good job really as we're both exhausted after yesterday's efforts. Just had an eye-wateringly expensive new satellite dish installed, I reckon the lad took one look at the house and OH's limp and promptly doubled the price! Oh well, there's no way OH can climb a ladder at the moment so had to be done if we want to watch TV again. Evenings have been very quiet for the last 4 days!
Just been looking at the price of new sheds, another job we couldn't do but think that might have to wait till next year. Hopefully our patching up will make it last a bit longer.

I'd give my right arm to have a cinnamon swirl right now @Dovefromabove , one of my favourites. I, too will be on driving duties from end of July for 6-8 weeks whilst OH recovers from his hip operation. We shall be entering purdah from early July to ensure he doesn't catch anything before the op! I think my birthday treat will have to be postponed as well. We do have two short breaks lined up soon however.

Sounds like early morning hugs and walkies with a canine friend might be just the ticket @Punkdoc -just saying!

Do hope the weather stays good for the garden visit @Busy-Lizzie.
