Good afternoon,

Not long back from another nearby GC (not the one we go to frequently), to buy some more compost. Also came back with a couple of solar lanterns in the shape of hot air balloons. They look nice and cheerful and will go in either the front or back garden - I haven’t decided yet.
Although our usual GC is open, there are long lasting roadworks en route, so we’ve decided to give it a miss for a week or so as we don’t fancy being stuck in traffic. No doubt we’ll brave them soon, as we quite enjoy our occasional fish Friday there .

It’s more like an autumn day today than early summer, with a very chilly blustery breeze and occasional sharp showers. I wish the breeze would disappear though, but if it did, I suppose the rain clouds would come back .

I've been shopping in town this morning and bought an echinacea plant from a supermarket to cheer up a border and me too!
@Blue arbour, your lanterns sound lovely and just the ticket to light up your garden.

Afternoon all. No call from the boiler engineer @lizzie27 but then am I surprised?
I did manage to get a washload pegged out and dried even though it hasn't been terrific here.
Yet again the Cadent workmen who are laying a new gas main down my lane parked across my drive. They soon came running when they saw I had taken a picture of the van. This is the second time I have emailed their head office - with pictures - about the cavalier way they treat the tiny crescent I live in. Tonight I am going to park my car outside my house to ensure I don't get a repeat blockage tomorrow - especially as it is bin day. Having just typed that and given it a little thought I might abandon that idea for tomorrow morning as I don't want to make it difficult for the binmen. Back to the drawing board!

I'm with @pattie in thinking your solar lights sound lovely @Blue arbour. I have solar lights in my garden. Two of them are shaped like light bulbs with a string of micro LED lights in them and I have a bigger one that looks rather like a standard ordinary lantern. They are quite cheery to see in the dark.

 

Time for me to sign out and get my dustbins trundled to the end of the drive. Have great evenings all of you. Catch you all tomorrow.

Thank you to those young men 80 years ago! We will not forget. My uncle who was in the NZ Navy was there on this day. Mum said he had terrible nightmares when he came back home - as did they all.

I went to Normandy with my sister and a friend many years ago. We visited many of the cemeteries and the museum and I'm including just a few pics. Two inside the museum are not brilliant but will give you a flavour.
