Its Friday. about 7:30Am. 67 degrees.
Just busy. Going to a car show today in Dover, Delaware, about an hour drive. Meeting up with some friends there. One of them, Ed a car builder has 8 of his cars in the show, he builds one a year for a million dollars, certainly a work of art. The actual owners of the cars may or may not be there, met a few of them in other shows.
Will be leaving on Sunday for the trip. So home all day Saturday, packing etc.

Yesterday the outlet water hose on the washer sprung a pin hole leak, they certainly do not make things like they used to, never had a hose do that ever in all the years I've had a washer. What a pain cleaning up all the water. Nuts.

Hope to spend a couple hours in garden today and Saturday. Take care all.

Evening all. I seem to be all over the place, can’t remember what day it is half the time. Just had too many disruptions to our usual routine, nearly all good though.
We took our trip up to Bath, but only stayed for one night, rather than two. Handed the dog back to the family, but they had all come down with Covid after their half term trip away. Still, we had a night in a hotel near the centre, and revisited some of our old haunts.
Since we got home, OH has made a start on the ‘lawn’. Wasn’t quite as bad as we thought it might be, the mower coped pretty well, and two thirds of it are now a better length. ( I made OH keep his shirt on, no point in posing as we don’t have a scythe for him to use) The green bins are well on the way to full.
It’s nice to be home too, after two recent trips away, made us appreciate the peace and quiet so much more.
Keep hanging in there, @Punkdoc. Hope the migraine is easing off, @Badly_Maintained. Thanks for the heads up on the roadworks in Bath, @lizzie27. Son had mentioned the road by the cricket ground was closed, but it didn’t cause us any problems. In fact, it seemed quieter traffic wise, maybe drivers avoiding the area.
Had to do a mercy dash to the RSPB shop, can’t keep up with the demands for sunflower seeds and suet pellets. There appear to be a couple of families of coal tits visiting, as well as the usual siskins and bull finches. They are getting through a lot of food.

Hello all … back from a busy day with son and now I’m trying to familiarise myself with my newer phone. I’m getting there ….

I hope everyone’s had a good day … hugs to @Punkdoc and anyone else in need of them.

oh. and no the new remote hasn’t sorted the problem. A new tv it will have to be …

Evening folks. Welcome to the weekend!

I’m flagging tonight so easy tea of ‘pizza’ (garlic flatbreads with cheese and mushrooms) and salad.

          Take care all.

It's been a hard week at Obelixx HQ.

Bonzo doggy (Labrador aged 15) had an ecocardiogram on Tuesday followed by X-rays on Wednesday. He has a lung tumour and 2 months max. Nevertheless he is still a joyful, affectionate creature and will be spoiled rotten till the time comes.

Rasta doggy (17) had to be euthanised this pm and then driven to a crematorium 40kms away as it is now illegal to bury pets in your garden in France. She was a wheaten terrier type dog we adopted at 11 months old so she's had a really good life but was the kind of character that leaves a huge hole.

They bring us such love and joy and fun while they're with us so it's hard to say goodbye but we do have precious memories.

Hello again all. Just trawling back through today's news on here but first I must express my condolences to @Obelix-Vendée. Having lost my beloved pet, Lily, last December and still missing her greatly I can truly say that I - and other pet owners - know exactly how it feels to have to make that final, kind gesture.

I had a really lovely lunch with the quiz gang in Crewe today but oh my did Madam 6 live up to expectation. Don't ever tell me that 'smart' motorways are just that! We were held up for ages whilst a stranded car was rescued. Noone had told it that it was supposed to get stranded near/in one of those laybys. Where is a hard shoulder when you need one? Rant over. Coming back was as slow due to it being Poets Day today. I was extremely happy to get back onto my drive, having dropped off the other three people.

So sorry to hear your sad news, @Obelix-Vendée .

I don't know if this is of any interest to any Brits living abroad (@Busy-Lizzie , perhaps) but I've just read that the "15 year rule" preventing anyone who's lived abroad for longer than this, to vote in UK elections, has been scrapped. You have until 18th June to register at Gov.uk if you want to vote in the General Election.

So sorry to read your news @Obelix-Vendée, our pets are so much part of the family and I loved reading about the antics of your two.

@Ladybird4 , oh no, we've got to travel on the M6 soon, not looking forward to it.

Thanks for kind words re my BIL, not so good today, so his GP sent him straight to another hospital in Leicester which has a cardiac unit. They are still waiting there now, Sis says it's going to be a long night but they've been given free tea and sandwiches. She'll ring me in the morning with an update.

I thought of you yesterday @Badly_Maintained , opened our bedroom curtains and there was a bright red poppy looking at me! Quite poignant really, given the date. I just love them although they don't go at all with my colour scheme! Hope your back pain can be sorted, I suffer too following an accident over 15 years ago so you have my sympathy.

I'm so sorry @Obelix-Vendée, it's bad enough losing one much loved dog, let alone two. I've enjoyed hearing about them over the years.

I'm sorry to hear more bad news about your BIL @lizzie27.

@Liriodendron I know about the 15 year rule being scrapped. It's a bit complicated for me as I've been in France for so long. I can vote in French elections as I have French nationality so I'll leave it to OH to vote for UK elections.

                                I have a conundrum.
My wife has kindly booked us a two week holiday in a self catering property in Scotland in October, but has now realised a little problem.

We will be five miles from the nearest shop, one mile from the nearest bus stop, will not have a car, but will arrive late in the day with a suitcase.

How do we get food to the property?

She just hasn't thought this one through.
It'll be October, and she's fretting. Any ideas from you wonderful people?

This is supposed to be a surprise holiday for me for a special birthday. I don't drive, and she won't hire a car. We will be coming from Kent.

I have a couple of ideas, but wanted to see what you might come up with. Thank you.
