@Blue arbour we found matching wine glasses to ours in a charity shop so good luck. They weren't expensive glasses. We also had luck, @Dovefromabove, after about 3 years, from Chinasearch. They found dinner plates for the Royal Grafton set that OH bought years ago. We had 5 and now we have 8

Thank you @Dovefromabove, I have used China search in the past for replacement China - never thought about glassware, but I’ll have a look. My problem is that I don’t know the brand of the crystal glasses. We bought them from an auction type place years ago as a set of 4, but the brand wasn’t listed. They are a decent weight, though, so they’ll be something like Edinburgh crystal I’m guessing.

Hello all. Thanks for the good wishes of a safe trip.
Yep, we made it safe, Sunday night. Just busy with stuff here.
Discovered I have a large Gardenia shrub on the property here and she is blooming, smells lovely. But can see it needs to be fed. Yes we have some good fertilizer with us. The soil here is nuts, layers of sand and then some type of soil. Even the grass is different, it is more of a roaming low thing, first I thought it was some stupid vine, but the landscaper person says that's grass. Go figure.
There were some other shrubs that finally look better. We brought some large ferns with us to plant. The biggest problem here is the deer, lots of them, so all plants to pick have to be deer resistant. Crazy part is the folks in the area don't want to cull, nuts.
We brought another object with us to install as a decorative feature in the house, I am setting a small framed sign near it to tell folks what it is. Lets hope no stupid people sit on it. We run across stupid now and then, just now, someone stepped on the hose end and bent it, now ---come on folks. Anyway here is the item .

Maybe being restricted to deer resistant plants is a better option than trying to overcome nature, which rarely ends well.
A mix of sunny and overcast weather here. We went down to the coast at Budleigh Salterton this morning, to see an area of the Otter estuary which has been restored to its original wetland nature. The cricket ground, which was regularly flooded, has been relocated to higher ground, with a smart new pavilion, and the original pitch is now under water. The footpaths have been upgraded, with new bridges, and lots of viewing areas and information boards. We saw a grey heron and some ducks, but we have resolved to visit frequently during the winter when the place will no doubt be alive with avian visitors.
There was a pretty chilly wind so I needed my jacket, but then got overheated in the sun and had to take it off for a while! My sunglasses spent as much time in my pocket as they did on my face.
Poor @Punkdoc, it’s a quandary to know whether you are suffering withdrawal symptoms from cutting back the medication, or a return to the condition they were treating in the first place. All you can do is try. Best of luck.

I get that folks want "matching wine glasses" but for me I like having unmatched ones, so if I give a house party no one wonders which glass was theirs. We have picked up a few sets at estate sales for our Airbnb. so cheap. and we keep a box of extra's up in the locked closet should some break.

Good afternoon all. @Ergates, that is the sort of walk I would have enjoyed. There are several places near me that are wonderful to spend time in. Martin Mere, Leighton Moss and Formby - where there is a red squirrel reserve, are three of the places I like to visit.
@redstar, my friend has wine glass charms to help everyone identify their glasses when she has parties at her house.

Re wine glasses, my cupboard is full of different glasses, I think there are only a few that match. TKMaxx used to be a great place to buy interesting and individual wine glasses, and I picked up some really lovely ones over the years. Unfortunately our cats put paid to a few of my favourites. I do have happy memories of inviting dinner guests to choose a glass for themselves, and very pleased that instead of turning their noses up, seemed to get great enjoyment from picking one that appealed to them.
It’s probably why I have a collection of Portmerion Botanic Gardens tableware, all different flower pictures on them, so I never get bored!

I am signing out for today. The plants I am expecting haven't arrived as yet so I have been seed sowing hardy perennials today. Some may need stratification but I will leave them for a month before I think about it. It does make interesting views inside my fridge whilst I am doing that.
See you all tomorrow. Have wonderful evenings.

                  Evening everyone.

I have the botanic china range too @Ergates. My favourite are little side plates with narcissus on them.

Trying something different with sweet potatoes tonight - sliced into rounds and baked; will have with leftover chicken and salad.

Have a good evening all. May any aches, pains or other PITAs improve.

Evening all. Another Portmerion Botanic Gardens household here with a growing collection - we acquired all the crockery OH had bought her mother over the years as well as our own set. As is so often the case it was all kept for best and rarely used, usually just for Christmas. We ended up buying her a set of plainer Denby crockery which she was happy to use daily even though the price was the same as the Portmerion!

Hello there everyone. Despite waking up really early I did feel like I had a better sleep last night. Not sure what the weather has in mind for today but so far (kiss of death!) no rain. I agree with all the posts made the other day about 'flaming June' and it being more like 'hello Autumn'. A friend of mine has just got back from 12 days in Italy and she says that the weather in the Med. during her stay was similar to here.

                        Good morning all :coffee1:

I hope we’re all well rested. 9C and cloudy out there … the app says it might get up to 16C if we’re lucky, but no real sun.
I really have no hopes of a crop from my tomatoes or squashes this year … and the runner beans need more warmth than this.
Best not to think about it .., choir this afternoon … :spinning:

And so it is @Ladybird - as I am on the Mediterranean coast! Good morning all!

Early start this morning, unfortunately I have to take my wee Border Collie to the vet as I found 2 lumps on her tummy when I was cutting that fine white pink tummy hair on Sunday morning. A little blood secretion too, so I have an earlier morning run for an early appointment. She is in fine fettle. Wet nose, bright eyes, eating and excreting! So......we'll see. She's 8.

Cool nights and mornings for this time of year but today is cloudy yet sunny so far. Windy as usual but more like a good breeze.

I think we all have the wine glass syndrome as we have our favourite glass which gets often broken and replaced.

                          Have a pleasant day.
