Oh my goodness @Tui34. I do hope that there is nothing sinister about the lumps on your little dog. Our pets are so special aren't they? I have to confess that I did not know of Françoise Hardy but I did do a bit of Google research after your post.

 

An odd day for me today. Putting on a suit and tie, which I've not done for more than ten years.
And the suit still fits!!

Going to lunch at the House of Lords today. Very nervous. I don't meet people in these circumstances anymore. At least I'll have my wife by my side - unless she runs off with one of the upper class!!

A day of mixed emotions today. Our twin Granddaughters are 21 today (where did that time go?).
Unfortunately it's also the anniversary of the sudden pasing of my brother.
At least the weather seems to be picking up.

I was going to mention RIP Françoise Hardy. It's in the French papers this morning. She was 80, had cancer. I liked her, gosh time does fly!

SM shop today. Then I must do a bit of weeding. We go back to Norfolk on Tuesday and there will be rain from Saturday. I wish the broad beans would get a move on.

Morning all, cold and wet this morning. I would put longer trousers on but the wasp sting from a couple of days ago is is not playing nicely with my leg, sore painful and swollen.
I hope your dog is ok @Tui34 they are so precious.
We are waiting for a chap to turn up from the company who are going to install new electric shutters, a balustrade for the balcony and a new door in our studio. It would seem to be something to do with the quote which we have accepted and paid a deposit for, well he needn't think he's going to change it unless it's to be cheaper!!

I’ve just been out and picked some more Broad beans @Busy-Lizzie … ours are doing well despite an invasion of blackfly which we’ve normally managed to avoid. But there’s loads of native ladybirds on them so presumably the next generation are getting a good feed.

@Allotment Boy - a bitter-sweet day indeed for you. I felt a little like you about time flying when I heard about my identical twin (yep, still can't tell them apart!) great nieces taking their driving tests. I have a picture of them both in the hands of their Uncle when they were both no bigger than rugby balls.
@floralies, I hope that the chap is just coming to tweak some measurements and not up the costings.

Good morning everyone. Sorry I've not been around for a couple of days - been busy with jobs, and plotting and planning.

This week the lawnmower has broken - leaking fuel and carburettor completely flooded. Fortunately OH's skills as a go kart engineer have come good and he's been able to strip down & clean out the very dirty carburettor, which may have solved the problem. Currently awaiting delivery of a new set of gaskets before he puts it all together and we cross our fingers.

Also had chimney swept and a new heating oil tank installed (the tank was an expensive but well overdue job!). Now we're getting things ready for going away next week. Not sure where yet . We'll turn either left or right when we disembark the ferry depending on the weather forecasts. There are 4 birthdays in the 14 days we're away so next job today is wrapping and sending cards and presents. Then I'll make a chicken rendang for dinner tonight.

Wanted to say well done to @Punkdoc for making it this far withdrawing from his medication. Sorry to hear the last few days have been so difficult. Could one of your many medical contacts help you assess whether the symptoms you are struggling with are more likely to be due to illness or withdrawal? If the latter, I wish you all strength in your continuing battle. If the former, I guess a rethink may be needed?

Sorry to hear some of you are struggling with wasp stings and the like. Think we all have gardens not behaving quite as we expect at the moment. Fingers crossed there's nothing sinister diagnosed for your collie @Tui34 .

 

The chap turned up from the window/blind company and it was just to make sure they had the correct measurements for everything . I have just put a heater on!

The plants there can be a bit hit and miss, but decent Begonias today, so that’s my hanging baskets sorted.
