    Good morning all.

I hope the visit to your GP is helpful and optimistic @Punkdoc. The Scottish cottage sounds idyllic.

I glad that it turned out not to be cancer for Fizz @Tui34 and that's she's back to normal soon.

That sounds a good lunch @RowlandsCastle, glad you enjoyed the day.

Sounds as though you are leaving East Anglia just as we arrive @Topbird! One day do you think you might come to Dordogne when we are there?

Today we are going to the Gardeners Club picnic. It is to celebrate their 20th anniversary and will be held in a local French garden that is often open to the public. Then had expected around 40 to accept the invitation but it was 68! Parking may be a problem but the garden owner has arranged to borrow a field. The committee will be making up the picnic baskets, free to members, 10€ to guests. I hope the weather stays fine. It's sunny but slightly chilly at the moment.

Good luck @Punkdoc at the GP appointment. We're off to Scotland, but not until October, near Oban. I hope you can get to the place you love.

@Tui34, great news about your dog Fizz.

I'm celebrating today, although it's not quite as significant a one as next year. I have had Happy Birthday played already and that will be my earworm all day!

It's 8C and the forecast isn't promising. What I call my Green Garden at the front of the house is lush with all the rain! My seedlings are not.

Have a lovely day, everyone whatever is planned.

@Dovefromabove, I did not know that and that is most dispiriting. I used to have a mobile library stop in my Crescent once a month on Tuesdays but thanks (not!) to Council cut backs, this wonderful service was removed.
@Punkdoc, I agree about all these cold nights and days. I hope you get some positive assistance at your Doc's.
@Tui34, such lovely news about your little Fizz. It must have been a major relief for you.
Happy Birthday @pattie. Have a wonderful day!

I hope that you have a wonderful day too @Busy-Lizzie. Fingers crossed that the weather is kind to you all at your picnic.

Hope the chance to talk things through with the GP is helpful @Punkdoc x

I don’t want to bring overt political discussion onto this thread … so please forgive me, but @Ladybird4 have you seen this How Britain became a food bank nation :ouch1:

Good news about your dog @Tui34 :)

          happy travels @Topbird :blue thumb:

Who’ve I missed  better read back … enjoy your day everyone, whatever you’re doing. We’re having new rad valves :blue thumb:

Morning all. Sunny and dry ATM so hoping to put the lawnmower back together and chop up some stuff for the compost bin.
Yesterday I planted a few things into their permanent spots but very slow growth rates this year means the remaining plants are still too small to plant out. I've 'planted' those still in their pots in the nursery bed. If I give the soil a good watering before we leave they'll hopefully get enough moisture while we're away. Crossed fingers we get some rain in that time.

@Punkdoc - think you know how much we love that area of Scotland. I do hope you feel up to going - can't think of anything better to improve your mental health than waking up to views of the mountains across the water. We had a wonderful week on Islay last November. We visited several of the 9(?) distilleries on that tiny island but some days we did little more than drink in the views across the bay and wander along the tiny beach. Incredibly restorative and relaxing. A visit to Inverewe is always uplifting and inspirational and the thought of good seafood in a nice pub.... How lovely.

@Tui34 - so pleased to hear the vet thinks nothing sinister for Fizz. Hope the infection clears quickly.

@Ladybird4 - your sister has an exciting year lined up! Love NZ so quite envious of her trip there. We're going to Japan in Nov. OH is very keen and went last year on a photography trip. Enjoyed it so much he wanted to go back and take me. I'm just glad he went first and worked out how to use the transport and cash card systems etc. Apparently it's not completely intuitive!
Hope your foodbank day goes ok.

                  @Ladybird4 and @Tui34
I did enjoy the lunch. Sadly, I couldn't partake of the wines. I do like a smooth, red, but they play havoc with my medication - and balance. As does the grapefruit - which my wife really likes, but on this occasion, it was not possible to pass mine over to her.

We've been supporting this charity since at least 1997 - I couldn't find my earlier records. We were asked what caused us to support them in the first place. Neither I nor my wife could think back that far. But I understand that is a useful piece of information for the charity to have.

Amusingly, we were encouraged, with a smile, to visit the gift shop. I guess even the Lords like the extra income to help keep the place running smoothly.

                    Happy Birthday @pattie

Thank you @lizzie27 for your kind comment about la Fizzette!!

Getting warmer here. Sunny. NO wind!! Done some flower deadheading and tidying up and of course the proverbial weeding. I even had to cut back a few branches of my grapevine. It was getting carried away with itself! Got lots of grape flowers. Apparently, it is a bumper year for raspberries and strawberries. Must be this cooler weather.

@RowlandsCastle -your day at the Lords sounds great. I wonder if they had a veggie option? I got taken round the House of Commons about 20 years ago, the lot, into the bowels of the earth and up into the gods. It was clear then that the place should be condemned. Bits falling off the ceilings and so on. I think they should build a new place, more in the middle of the country, say Durham, and make it accessible to all and fit for purpose.

                        Good morning,

Just finished Pilates, so feeling suitably stretched.

It’s good to hear you feel you might be turning a corner @Punkdoc, and I hope your GP can offer you some constructive advice moving forward, and also that you make that trip to Scotland as I’m sure it will be a wonderful tonic.

Glad your dog is free of any tumours - it must be a huge relief for you @Tui34 .

The menu looks delicious @RowlandsCastle. It sounds as if you had a wonderful day.

I agree, it’s a very sad state of affairs when there are more food banks than public libraries. What a terrible state we are in.

I hope everyone has a good day.

There may have been a veggie option, as we were asked in advance if we had any dietary requirements.
I was fine with most things, but forgot to mention grapefruit. Thankfully not hard to rectify.

                                Happy Birthday to fellow Yorkies.

Seen the GP, to be fair he would like to help, but he says, and I agree, that I have lived with this for 26 years, have been on multiple medications [ getting rid of them one by one over the last few years ], that I am in the best position to judge what to do. A psychiatric opinion might be helpful, but even with the fact I would be seen quicker than most, it would be at least a year.
