    Morning everyone.

Out early-ish and finished the outdoor jobs on the list for today. Just as well as it is now raining. Started just as the washing was nearly dry of course and I didn't notice for the first few minutes... How irritating.

@floralies - ouch! hope your wasp stings settle down fairly soon. A few years ago I had to destroy a wasp nest in a raised bed before the landscaper would work in the area. Thought I'd do it myself rather than paying someone. Think I was stung about 9 times in very quick succession through my clothes. Fortunately all the stings were around my thighs rather than around my head.
Immediately took a double dosage of antihistamine tablets and put OH on high alert to keep an eye on me for the next couple of hours in case there was any allergic reaction. Fortunately there wasn't but I was very uncomfortable for several days afterwards.
I found that applying a cold compress (wet flannel which had been in the freezer for an hour) was very soothing.

I "iced" my leg after the stings with frozen soup wrapped in a tea towel @Topbird!

        Ouch. Hope that eases soon!!!

@Topbird … that reminds me of the time I tripped in the Stationery cupboard at work and the designated First Aider iced my knee with the other Team’s Manager’s Findus lasagne … very naughtily he’d removed the medical ice pack from the small freezing compartiment the office fridge in order to keep his supper frozen … the First Aider said ‘serve him right’ … but she put the lasagne back in the freezer afterwards and apparently he never knew his supper had been wrapped around my knee!

          Good afternoon,

We keep heaving heavy showers today, but at least it’s not windy as well. In between times, the sun attempts to make an appearance though not very successfully. It’s too wet to do any gardening today. I did manage a bit of pruning yesterday and had hoped to continue today, but never mind, it’ll wait.

I hope those wasp stings soon ease, @floralies, they sound very uncomfortable. Very innovative using the frozen soup as an ice pack :).

So sorry that you have been targeted by wasps again @floralies. Not nice at all.
I watched Trooping the Colour after my gardening and it was a marvellous event. As the Royal party were on their way back to the palace, the skies opened. Last time I saw rain like that was up here the other day. I felt very sorry for all of the soldiers as their bearskins were starting to look very bedraggled and I imagine that the uniforms would have got heavier and heavier. The King looked well, poor Camilla looked perished with cold and it was nice to see the Princess of Wales out with her children.

Ooh, sorry to hear about the wasp stings. When I had my altercation with a sunken nest in the garden, I too had stings over both thighs. The hay fever tablets I used made no difference, but the nurse at the minor injuries unit recommended Piriton, which I had used for years because of the drowsy effect. I now keep a pack in the medicine cupboard just in case, but am very careful to ‘observe’ my proposed work areas for a few minutes, for any busyness of bees or wasps before I start swinging the mattock.

When I was nursing years ago we used Piriton as a mild sleeping tablet, but it's really meant for stings. I hope your wasp sting is easing @floralies.

We watched the second half of The Trooping of the Colour. It was all done so well despite the rain and the Princess of Wales was looking so pretty, not ill. I hope she makes a full recovery. At least the sky changed to blue and it stopped raining for the Red Arrows.

                    Hi all

Not a great day, we had a horrendous hail storm last night, which has flattened, and shredded the garden.
Moira was supposed to be away today, but doesn't feel I am ready to leave alone, so I am disappointed for her.
Are we ever going to have a summer??

We've had lots of heavy rain this afternoon so being stuck indoors when I would have liked to be outside in the garden has been frustrating. But at least all plants are ok, so sorry that @Punkdoc's garden has had such a battering. I can understand the heartbreak.
As for summer, the weather people are suggesting next week will be better temperature wise and summer will kick off. I hope so. In the meantime, I am being a bit of a wuzz, clutching my HWB at bedtime!
I did laugh at the various ice packs used for stings, I hope @floralies you're not suffering too much- you seem to be a bit of a target, unfortunately.
                      Have a good evening, all.

                        Evening everyone.

Making a curry here and bought some samosas to go with it.

@Busy-Lizzie - nurses and emergency workers sometimes use piriton as a sleep aid after night shifts. I could always sleep, but wasn’t so good at the waking up bit. Horrible doing nights - I haven’t done them for years as they made me feel ill and run-down. Ok when you are young and can still function at any hour. In London we did 6 on:6 off and all went out for a trucker’s breakfast and a pint after the last one. I missed my tube stop home a few times!

Have a lovely Saturday evening folks.

I missed Trooping the Colour yesterday morning, as I did my first stint in the local museum. I've clearly got a lot to learn. I'm not sure that my dodgy memory is going to keep up with what's required of me.
But, I will return for more sessions, and maybe I'll retain more than I expect to.
