I'd just got into my gardening gear and cleared the greenhouse out ready to put the tomato seedlings when we had a sudden phone call from an Irish guy we used to know, but haven't seen for about 8 years (he works abroad) - could he and his son drop in for a cuppa - eek!
A quick dash in for a shower and change of clothes, a hasty tidy up of the sitting room ensued, fortunately they were half an hour later than they said. It was grand to see them both and we had a good natter.

Just had a chat with Wonky Womble … she says hello to everyone … she said now she has some new reading specs hopefully she’ll soon be using them to find her way around GC. In the meantime I can reveal how much she’s enjoying her part time job at Katie’s’ Garden … the problem is that there’s a lot of temptation … 1ac300e9-9f88-4349-aa23-d28d5e7c1721.jpeg

Whoops! It’s on the wonk … but that’s Wonky for you :loll:

So sorry, @Obelix-Vendée, it really hurts. But happy memories that they had enjoyable lives with you.
I keep feeling tempted to plant some roses, but then I read the posts on here, @Punkdoc. Lots of roe deer and other critters round here, so probably not worth the effort.
We have had a lovely sunny day here, with no sign of rain. OH cut more grass, and trimmed the hedge. I did the sweeping up and tidying away, plus boring jobs like laundry, bed changing and putting the recycling out for the morning.
We did have a lovely walk this morning, light cardies and short sleeved shirts. I’m now sitting watching the birds on the feeders, and the rabbits trimming the grass. OH appears to be watching some football match with his eyes closed! I think the fresh air has got to him!

So sorry to hear your sad news @Obelix-Vendée, you gave them a loving family home which they would not otherwise have had.
@Tui34 the wasp stings are subsiding but my foot is still quite swollen and itchy, I guess that will go down in time.
Best wishes to all, I'm off to bed now, see you in the morning.

A very good morning everyone. I was awakened (rudely!) at 02:13 when Cricket the cat decided that this would be a very good time to wrestle with my head. Gee thanks Cricket.
@Dovefromabove, your picture of East Runton beach brought back many happy family holiday memories spent there. We stayed in Sheringham.
We didn't win in the quiz last night but had a great evening. Thanks to @Ante1, I was able to answer the question 'What country is known as Hrvatska in its own language?'
                      Now for tea and cereals!

                          Hi all

I have a feeling I may have woken in an alternative reality, it is sunny and seems warm, I may go wild and have coffee outside. I hope this isn’t a pill withdrawal thing.

                            Good Morning folks.
It’s a lush day here too.
Make the most of it @Punkdoc - get some freckles and Vit D.

I’m just waiting for the garden bin to be emptied so I can fill it up again! I already have a pile of ivy that needs to go out as I don’t compost that.

                            Have a lovely day all

Saturday was given over to a visitor all day. (The other mother in law".) My son in law's mother.
                              Sunday I was wiped out.
Yesterday I planted out the petunias into 3 containers for a bit of colour. Heavily dosed with slug pellets.Poo picked the garden and moved the runner beans outside for a final hardening off. My main goal was to cut down the bracken in the veg. plot which I did. I sat on my gardening stool in the middle of the veg.plot and cut the foliage up, I do not not have a mechanical chomper, it was somewhat blissful sitting in the sun, listening to the birds and destroying such an irritating plant. The tough stems have gone on the bonfire. I also found quite a few stinging nettles so have cut them up to go in a bucket to make into stinky nettle plant feed. My next challenge is to prepare the ground and wigwam for the runner beans. I have lost my final root of artichoke to the wet winter and the storms. The remaining stumps are huge so I think I will have to leave them to rot off, the 2 new plants I purchased earlier are slowly recovering from being chomped by slugs, they each have a new leaf. I have lost another squash plant to damping off but the tomatoes are beginning to move, very slowly, they are so late this year.
I also did some more path clearing of dead grass, the weed matting now needs a stiff brushing before it rains.
I treated myself to a slice of rib eye steak for dinner.

@Goldenlily26 I also have nettles growing in my garden and this year I seem to be inundated with cleavers (goosegrass). Its fairly easy to remove but it sticks to everything and it is a bit tingly at times when I pull it. I have no clue how it arrived in the garden but along with the croscosmia, mare's tail and Spanish bluebells it is a never ending task these days. I have been trying for years to get rid of those but they defy all my attempts.
