I agree the veg is all late this year @Goldenlily26 - (and my sweet peas) but maybe the seasons are shifting and September becomes the last month of Summer.

I’ve embraced the Spanish bluebells after years @Ladybird4, and the crocosmia is some green covering other weeds at least!

This is very true @AuntyRach and I must admit that I do actually LIKE the crocosmia flowers. I am becoming more tolerant - but definitely not of mare's tail and cleavers :gaah:

Morning all, wish me luck folks, I'm starting Michael Mosley's 5-2 diet today - so no lunch - crikey! OH is joining me as we're both overweight for our height. Hopefully I'll make it till 7 pm and dinner! Taken all our measurements, bit of an eye-opener.

Enjoy the sunshine @Punkdoc, we have the same here.

@Goldenlily26, that all sounded jolly hard work so all credit to you. We seem to have lots of cleavers this year as well as the dratted bindweed, a never ending struggle to pull it all up. Just as well we don't have any nettles though.

@Obelix-Vendée , I do hope Possum isn't too distraught, she must have had your lovely dogs for most of her childhood?

Right, must get on and do something to take my mind off food or the lack of it

@lizzie27 I started 5;2 last Friday. I had great success with it about 10 years ago, but a combo of lockdowns and hub's ill health meant that I wasn't getting the exercise I should have. I have set myself the goal of 10lbs loss by hub's birthday, mid August.
If you want to PM me and we can support each other/share tips, that's fine by me.

We started the grandkids' dog on agility in the garden last night. He's a natural and they are keen 'handlers' at 11 and 13.

I have one baby tomato on my Black cherry. Yay! Reaches for the feed....

@Penny_Forthem, I am growing a cherry tomato called Crokini this season - as well as two of my favourites (bought as plants) - Gardeners Delight. I have grown the Crokini from seed, given away 5 plants to friends and kept 5 for myself. I've got teeny tiny toms on the GD but only flowers so far on the C. I've also grown mini cucumbers for the first time - an all female variety called Mini Munch - because I absolutely love these and having bought them regularly at the supermarket I decided to give it a go.
Good luck to both you and @lizzie27 with your 5-2 diet. Might have a go at that myself.

                Good afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen,

Firstly - my condolences on the loss of Bonzo @Obelix-Vendée . I have no doubt that he enjoyed a happy well-cared-for life with you.

Today I am migraine-free after a monster which lasted days and days and days. I'm going for another M.R.I. scan of my brain on Thursday.

Continued best wishes to @Punkdoc as he battles with coming off meds.

Hope the new diet is a roaring success for you both @lizzie27 .

I have sad news and happy-ish news, and I suppose I might as well get the sad news over with first. A 13 year old child who was related to me recently passed away. She had a genetic condition and had spent a large part of her short life in and out of hospital. On many occasions when her Parents were at the hospital with her, I looked after her Brother and Sister. It is a very sad time for that family. They are all good people.

There was a storm on Thursday last week which wouldn't have disgraced Winter, and it hammered my (self-seeded) Shirley poppies.

On a happier note, there were four bumble bees (simultaneously!) visiting the poppies while I was watering them this morning. Additional good news is that some other flowers have appeared as well. I'm intending to post photos of these additional flowers here tomorrow; a couple I'm guessing the names of, but one I can't name at all.

As always - best wishes to all.

@Badly_Maintained, I was so saddened to read your news about the little one who passed away. Far too soon. I hope that treasured memories of her time spent here will help to soften the pain felt by all her relatives.

                    Hello folks :coffee1:

Hope everyone’s having a good day. I’ve been AWOL … I slept in, then took OH to work, came back and did laundry and housecleaning and paperwork and phone calls and lots of stuff like that … then got tonight’s meal ready and chuntering in the slow cooker and listened to a sculptor friend being interviewed on local radio. Now it’s tennis time …

I’ve just read back … my sincere sympathies to you @Badly_Maintained on the loss of your young relative.

Before I retired my work was with the families of children and young people with severe disabilities and life limiting conditions. I have been to too many children’s funerals … it’s a sad and difficult time and my heart goes out to all who loved and cared for her.

I do however have such warm memories of remarkable families and their young people who I truly miss. They used to tell us ‘try not to get involved’ ,.. but you can’t do the job properly unless you do.

I booked the second week of Wimbledon off at the beginning of year… so I thought… but Wim is the first two weeks of July this year! I thought it was last week of June into July?? Oh well, I’m off for the first week and both weekends at least.

I nipped out for a few household bits and happened to find some decent pelargoniums (a chocolate one and one called Saleron) and a Heuchera ‘Tapestry’.

                            Hello all.
Gorgeous sunshine this morning and feeling very warm- but now the heavens have opened... oh, hang on a minute, the sun's out again... but there are more ominous clouds skittling across the sky.
                            That's so sad, @Badly_Maintained. I'm sorry.
My near neighbour has now lost two stones in weight, following some body builders diet; no breakfast, four eggs and an avocado at 1pm, something at 7pm (he forgets what, but it includes olives) sounds mad to me.
Gorgeous photo of the beach at Cromer(?). What a beautiful place- I visited it many moons ago.
